and police are looking for her ex-boyfriend, emilio de la rosa. they believe he killed her and took the couple's 4-year-old son and dropped the child at a relative's home. stars and stripes stole friend a highway overpass. investigators believe that it was removed from the overpass but that the person was caught bill shields has the report. >> reporter: this man, david hickman, decided one banner should be taken down, this one, the black and blue, honoring police officers. >> the state property is not supposed to become billboards for the general public. anybody can put something there. >> reporter: he said he supports police and yesterday on 9/11, he was caught taking

unmarked taxicab last night in chelsea. police found the driver bleeding in his minivan on congress after avenue 6:30. policesay that the driver was hired to give the teenager ace -- teenagers a ride but slashed him about the fare. police are investigating vandalism at a mosque. someone threw rocks through the window of the islamic society of greater nashua while people were inside. the muslim l organization is asking police to investigate as a hate crime. three juveniles were seen throwing rocks at other locations, too. and the mosque where the pulse nightclub shooter worshiped was destroyed by fire. lisa? >> reporter: david, police say that someone intentionally set fire, with surveillance video showing a man walking with a

flash. apparently, he drove off on a motorcycle. that much they know. muslim leaders say this is a sad day. >> the message we want to send to the public is an attack on any house of worship is an attack on all houses of worship. it's unacceptable. there are people in this country that want to divide us along religious lines, ethnic lines, racial lines, and we as a community have to stay together to reject this time of of bigotry and hatred that exists in society. >> reporter: investigators don't know with certainty if this has anything to do with the shooting. omar mateen killed 49 people and wounded 53 others. his father attended that mosque. >> lisa, thank you. to the crisis in syria, a cease-fire is in effect.

webster police say they caught three people in the act spray painting a bridge over perry road. theysay every time it was cleaned, new graffiti appeared, so they started to monitor the area more closely, and at 1:30 on saturday morning, they spotted three people with spray paint. and fitchburg police say this k-9, alex, is and -- responsible for tossed drugs from the vehicle. alex chased him through the woods and caught up with the suspect. we are getting closer to a debate with another ballot question. voters will decide whether or not to legalize marijuana in massachusetts. both sides will hash it out on a live debate on my tv 38 tomorrow during the wbz news at 8:00. tweet us your questions.

every time a new charter school opens in massachusetts, it takes funding away from regular public schools in that area. this year alone, charter schools will take more than 400 million dollars away from neighborhood public schools. that's not right. instead of draining even more money from neighborhood public schools and giving it to charters, let's devote public resources to all of our students... not just a select few. don't lift the cap on charter schools.

but the wind out of the southwest, 7 to 14 for tomorrow at the water's edge. this front will be arriving on wednesday evening and with it, similar to sunday. the biggest, gusty winds and we could have thunderstorms that will slide across the area wednesday evening into the first part of the night, not a soaking rainfall but some rain and cooler air will in thursdays thursday. thursday, the coldest day of the season so far, dry air, and many towns in the 60s. the air changes, a bump up in the humidity on wednesday, not oppressive, and then it gets really dry towards thursday and friday to end out the week. one of my favorite events, the big east friday, opening day will be perfect. it lasts for a couple of weeks

researchers looked at 25 years of data and found 330 children are treated in the er each day for sprains, strains, and fractures and the number of concussions skyrocketed. >> we are seeing 24 concussions a day. >> reporter: researcher says that the reasons behind the injury include more awareness, new athletes learning the sport, and kids playing year round at high intensity but there are ways to prevent participating in pre-season conditioning programs that have a program to build core strength and neck muscles and hip and thigh muscles. >> reporter: josh sat out for a few weeks but said it probably should have been for longer. >> i wanted to come back to the game. i faked my last test. for people who have concussions, don't do that. >> reporter: earlier this
