police arrested a man they say threatened to blow up the police station there. officers say early this morning, warn bares was armed with a machete. police found an open, leaking propane tank as well as a bottlele of gasoline. he told police he would use the items to blow up the station. beverly police say a teenager stabbed a man during a home invasion. officers say the 17-year-old suspect went that livingsstone avenue, demanded money and stabbed the man inside. paramedics took him inside where he is expected to recover. police and k-9 units tracked down the teen? n. a nearby backyard. and someone trying to extort the show "top chef" has pled guilty. he admitted he tried to intimidate the crew into hiring union labor for a local shoot. he will be sentenced in

charged in that case. gloucester's police chief has stepped aside from his role with a nonprofit he created to help drug addicts. the chief is suspended with pay during an internal investigation there. we don't know what that inquiry is about, but his attorney said he is cooperating with the investigation and that it has "nothing to do with his duties as chief of police." gloucester's acting chief says the angel program will continue. >> no bond for the ex-convict charged with in a florida mosque. police charged michael shriver with arson and hate crimes. investigators say he admitted he set fire to the mosque which the pulse nightclub shooter once attended on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. he has a long past with two sentences for robbery. settling a wrongful death lawsuit. blands died in a texas jail cell days after police arrested

violation. the exchange turned confrontational where she was forced to the ground where the officer pulled a stun gun. the death was officially ruled a suicide. a surprise endorsement. the new hampshire union leader is supporting libertarian candidate gary johnson. this is the first time in 100 years that the paper has not backed a republican in the presidential race. in an editorial, the paper's publisher called donald trump a liar, buffoon and says the status quo. jon keller is here. jon, does this matter? >> reporter: well, i kind of doubt it in the short term. with all due respect, the union leader endorsed chris christie in the new hampshire primary, and he finished sixth. it may be significant if it's part of a successful push to keep right leaning republican and independent voters away from the trump column.

poll shows that 91% of voters claim their minds are made up while 8% say they might change their minds. back to the 4% who say they are completely undecided, that makes about 12% of the electorate that says they are still persuadable. who are those voters? that's the crucial question for these two. some of them are relatively moderate republicans who have been alienated by trump but don't like clinton them. you can see trump's campaign desperately trying to win at least some of them back by muting his tone and promoting more mainstream republican policy ideas. most appeared at the independence who had been -- the independents who had been turned off where gary johnson comes in. some polls suggest he draws voters away from clinton a bit more than trump, especially among young people. if johnson and jill stein, the

excluded from the debates as seems likely, will their backers hold their noses and go for clinton or trump and which one would benefit most? that could wind up being the key to an election that for now at least seems to be a dead heat. the latest polling across the country, it just couldn't be any closer. >> it's colorer and, in fact, hillary clinton polling is better against trump than the other two. are they taking more from her question. some people believe that johnson in particular hurts her because younger voters who tend to be more libertarian in their outlook are being drawn to him. in the long run, that's a question these campaigns have to tray to answer. i suspect you'll see some of that support for the minor party candidates fall away if they are excluded from the debates as we get closer. that's been the pattern in the past.

well, scary momentfo some people on a bus in australia. they were on the sidney harbor bridge during rush hour when the bus caught fire here. paramedics had to take the people to the hospital. they all had smoke inhalation. a good samaritan saving a driver after a wild crash in north carolina. the man's pickup truck collided with a school bus. somehow the truck got wedged underneath and caught fire. a tow truck driver happened to be nearby with the help of police, hooked that pickup truck up, pulled it free from

the dry day heading out into the orchard. if you have a painting project outside of the house, saturday would be the day to do it. then the increasing risk of showers and downpours into the afternoon and evening. if you are going to the patriots game, a, i'm jealous. b, it looks like the rain gear. the rain will be scattered about. i'm not expecting it to be raining all day. then the biggie kicks off tomorrow. if you are going out to eastern states exposition, showers are likely there on sunday. when it comes to humidity, the temperatures are rising here on sunday. sunday and monday will be quite sticky. a tropical air mass in place before we dry out heading into tuesday of next week. i think our best chance for a steadier rainfall, a heavier rainfall would be toward sunday night into monday morning. that's what we're hoping to squeeze out over an inch of rainfall. i'm relatively optimistic we could see an inch in at least

done that because people wouldn't be commenting and talking about it all evening. >> oh, the property owner is now suing his neighbors in hopes it will prompt them to clean up their act. i just feel bad for them. >> he's so angry he had a cow. six harbor seal pups are now safely back in the wild. animal teams from the mystic aquarium released the seals in charlestown, rhode island. the pups abandoned after birth were found in maine. since the sp misters animal rescue clinic have been nursing them back to health. they are doing well. tonight, adele will play the second of two shows at the garden. last night as she was about to start singing, rumor has it she got distracted by two young girls in the audience. after the song, she pulled them and their parents up on stage. today their mom tweeted this picture to adele writing "thank you so much.

report shows the extreme drought affecting new england is getting much worse and it's impacting far more than our yards and farms. tonight massachusetts and all of the surrounding states desperately need water. >> our reservoirs sore dry some cities and towns are now forced to pay for water from the state. we have team coverage tonight beginning with our chief meteorologist eric fisher and a look at the brand new drought maps that just came out. >> it continues to grow across the region. the worst of southern maine, and all of eastern and central massachusetts has been spreading north, west, and south over the course of the last couple of weeks. we've seen big changes. nor towns including concord to new bedford and plymouth. week to week, 52% of massachusetts now in the extreme drought category. it expanded by nearly 30% from massachusetts from last week. very little rain in the forecast. we have showers for sunday and

here and what do we take to end the drought in a few minutes. david? >> thank you, eric. the drought is so bad that some places are asking for emergency supplies. >> the city of ashland just got approved use for state-supplied water at a cost to taxpayers. beth? >> reporter: well, the cost of not paying for emergency water could be even bigger. this is the water supply for the town of ashland. while it may look plentiful, it drought. we are standing amid exposed rocks and mud making ashland one of at least ten communities looking for help and willing to pay for it. >> we'd be standing in water up to about here. >> reporter: roy thinks a lot about water these days and is watching the levels that the reservoir for the town of ashland continue to drop. >> so a lot of the rocks, the big jutting rocks you see there would be under water. >> reporter: at least 5 feet around the reservoir is exposed.
