when this man tried to remove a boot from the wheel of his car as officers approached him. he pulled out an a11 inch meat cleaver and ran. police say they chased him and then an off-duty detective tried to stop him and that's when he slashed the man in the face. officers fired 18 round at him and a decision defended by the police commission her there bill bratton. >> we have a character running down the street officers approached him sought to take him in custody during which time one received a very significant injury to his face. >> three officers were injured. the suspect was brought to the hospital in critical condition. sentencing is sectioned sp for -- expected of two people sexually assaulting another

16-year-old in 2014. a third teen pleaded guilty to filming the attack a friend saw the snapchat photos and called police. the victim was too drunk to consent. first body cameras now name tags we have learned the boston police commissioner william evans wants on all officers. officers started to wear the body cameras on monday. evans is now working with police unions to issue the name tags which he says is an extra measure of accountability. most police departments in thestate already wear em in weymouth. first the home was destroyed by fire and then they were involved in a car accident. the flames started inside an apartment attached to the homelast night a tenant admitted a cigarette accidentally sparked the fire and the flames quickly spread. >> said there was a fire and she couldn't get it out and when we open the back door into the kitchen, the smoke was just very, very heavy coming towards us and we got out and i said i need to call 911 right away.

good news but talk about bad luck. one of the homeowners was sideswiped as he drove back to the house last night. there's now an official government recall for one million samsung note 7 phones that comes after dozens of customers reported the devices sudden hi catching fire. samsung says if you have a phone turn it off and stop using it immediately. customers also don't have a choice to get a replace -- have a choice to get a replacement or full refund. we posted that cbsboston.com. the recall is a bad time for samsung as iphone 7 goes on sale this morning. >> die-hard customers are lining up to get their hands on the iphone 7. any cog james -- nicole jacobs is live with a closer look a lot of excited people out there. >> reporter: a lot of excitement. it's time. we see this about every year or at least when a new iphone is rolled out. people braving those overnight lines just as they are here.
