blow up a gas station and -- threaten to blow up a gas station and set off a five hour stand off is due in court. >> nick giovanni is live in taunton where the man will be charged this morning. nick. >> reporter: chris, and kate, rehobeth police chiefmentioned nothing of this mag -- chief mentioned nothing of this magnitude has happened under his watch. he barricade himself in a suv for more than be an xbox controller according to police. >> scary because we all have kids in the town and it's scary. we go to cumberland farms every day. >> reporter: investigators say benjamin kimbell was behind the stand off that ensued after he threatened a clashing inside the couple -- a clerk inside the cumberland farms claiming he had a bomb and parked at gas pump and locked himself inside his suv. police arrived and they say he

threatened to blow the place up. >> he told the police officer to back up because he what gun and bomb and would blow the place up. two other officers arrived and he he pulled the gas hose off a pump. >> reporter: police responded with armored vehicles. boxing kimball in. after gas pump wrps shut off the store evacuated -- were shut off -- pumps were shut off the store evacuated. he was bitten by a police dog and shot with a bean bag >> i saw him run out of his car and heading towards this way and they threw two like grenades to try to slow him down and the police came from this way and they captured him. >> reporter: by the time this was all over we understand the only injuries the suspect kimbell walked away with stemmed from the dog bite he was treated and is set to be

nick giovanni wbz. this morning a police officer and the man accused of attacking him with a meat cleaver are in the hospital. police say this began yesterday when 32-year-old man tried to remove a boot from the wheel of the car. as officers approached him he he pulled out an 11-ch meat cleaver and -- in-- 11-inch meat cleaver. when a off duty detective tried to stop him he slashed the officer in e officers fired 18 rounds at him and that's was a decision defend by the chief bratton. >> he was waving a cleaver and officers approached him and sought to take him in custody during which time one of them received a very significant injury to his face. >> three officers were injured in that incident. the man was brought to the hospital in critical condition. sentencing is expected for
