attacked her near campus and tried to take off her clothes. the school even put out a campus wide alert. when officers questioned her about the story, she confessed that she'd made it up. tonight out of cape cod, wildlife workers monitoring a pod of dolphins that they worry could strand themselves. yesterday 20 dolphins were rescued from shallow waters will simply strand themselves again. 38-year-old benjamin kimble was in court today facing several charges including attempted arson and resisting arrest. police say he threaten today blow up a gas station then barricaded himself in an suv, then tried to run before officers arrested him. a second man has died from injuries he suffered in a

collided during a speedboat race and all three operators were thrown into the water. a new hampshire man died at the scene and today we have learned a second died at a rhode island hospital. this morning the coast guard rescued three people in the merrimac river. they were all taken to the hospital without life- threatening injuries. the coast guard towed their 32- foot back to air in months this morning. meteorologist eric fisher is here with more. >> felt pretty chilly this morning, many areas reaching upper 30s. strong sun getting us into the

with an unidentified vendor. the media are suing, demanding to know that. a new york city police officer who was attacked with a meat cleaver is already out of the hospital. officer brian o'donnell was released less than 24 hours after the attack. police say officers approached a man and he started running. o'donnell was off duty but in the area hit him with the cleaver and was then shot twice. he is in critical condition. this weekend is the reach the beach, one of the longest relay races in the u.s. among them, officers from new hampshire and new york, running 201 miles in 24 hours, all to raise money for the family of fallen officer robert

it is so much fun and it will have so much meaning for them. the overnight legs are very interesting. if you have ever run with a head lamp on, it's interesting. looking good for the weekend. saturday is our best day, sunday not a washout but a little rain to talk about. today, perfect. gorgeous outside, in the 70s after that chilly start and a typical mid- september day. right now we have nice comfortable air, nice and crisp. warmer air is knocking on the door, though, 82 in cleveland and that air mass is moving in tomorrow. we are drier than last night,

but not expecting any 30s. low 40s to about 50 in the suburbs and 56 in the city, a full harvest moon overhead. then we look forward the weekend. there's a front here. there's a tropical area here off the coast of louisiana. some of that moisture will get drawn up into that front. then julia centers here and the thunderstorms are way off to the east side. those will all play a role in monday. tomorrow, nice start to the weekend with a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures nearing 80 degrees and no rainfall. tomorrow night starts to get more humid, clouds moving in. then sunday a few showers and downpours, a chance of showers in the afternoon. not raining all day, but we'll certainly take it. partly cloudy skies on sunday and a very warm and humid day.

heavier rain is late sunday and into monday. a batch of heavy rain is expected across new england, some promising news there. as for tomorrow, the dry day of the weekend, temps in the 70s to around 80. we'll have a breeze to the south southwest and it will get gusty across the cape and islandings. heading to the beach, expect a little chop on the water. sun and clouds for saturday, increasing. then on sunday dew points are way up there, decent cloud cover and scattered showers. also we have a risk for a popup thunderstorm in the area. bring the rain gear to the game but don't expect to be poured on the whole time. looking toward monday, these oranges and reds on the map,
