>> oh wouldn't that be nice danielle we are thinking of friday. >> no it's monday but we like looking ahead to the weekend right? yeah it's one of the things. after the weekend here we had the summertime temperatures andhumidity in police as well and now we are tracking some areas of rain. we had a couple showers yesterday and now there are a few thunderstorms too focused through the interior. in some deeper reds it's absolutely pouring. so it's blinding in terms of the rain coming down so hard you can barely see in the deeper reds from amhurst to orange and that's where we have a few rumbles of thunder rolling through as well. that rain extends into jaffrey north of fitchburg and a lot of it has been lifting northward into southern new hampshire and southern maine. so a lot of eastern massachusetts is dry for now. you notice the motion of it lifting to the north but also from west to east. so we will get into some of the wet weather as we head throughout mid to late morning. temperatures in the 70s right now. 72 in boston and the dew points

feel it when you step outside and humidity is going to be staying with us today. hour by hour mid to late morning a. lot of it weakens as it comes into eastern massachusetts. there will be some downpours around midday early afternoon. and isolated rumble of thunder through the afternoon and early evening with leftover showers after that. and planner goes this way only rising into the mid-70s for highs today. have the wet weather gear with you. we will take you to the rest of the week to a soggy start in some places like the north shore. you might notice some roads are wet like 93 south into the city. we have a live look at the zakim bridge and we have maps. these are the areas that you will want to keep an eye out for. you don't have a lot of company on the roads and no accidents. just keeping the rain in mind so we will track that and let you know of any changes kate. >> thank you. we begin with breaking news

monday morning. the fbi investigating several suspicious devices found inside a backpack near a train station. one of them he can plod as bomb squad robot tried to disarm it. some passers were why -- explode as a bomb squad row boat tried to disarm it. some passengers were waiting for hours. >> reporter: authorities in new jersey suspended train service overnight after a backpack in elizabeth. city's mayor says one of the devices went off unintentionally as a bomb squad began to inspect it. development came as the fbi and nypd took several people intocustody curing a-- during a traffic stop in brooklyn in connection to saturday's explosion in new york's chelsea neighborhood. the video obtained by nbc shows people running for cover after

nearly 30 people were injured a second pressure cooker devicefour blocks away was disasim belled. they are not calling the incident an act of terrorism. >> we have a lot more work to do to say what kind of moat vyings was behind this -- motivation was behind this a political or personal motivation. >> reporter: they are trying to figure out if the the chelsea bopping is connected to another explosion in new jersey that may have used a cell phone trigger. hena daniels. >> and security has been stepped up outside the united nations in new york as leaders from around the world attend the u.s. general assembly today. there's no specific threat in massachusetts but state intelligence officials are communicating with each other. state leaders say they are increasing security and taking extra precautions. >> we are monitoring the situation in new york city and we are taking some safety precautions in boston to make sure everything is okay.

and making sure it's a safe road. >> see something say something may sound corny but the simple truth is that's a ton of eyes and ears paying attention to this stuff and it can make a difference. >> the second bomb that didn't go off in manhattan saturday night was similar to the ones used during the boston marathon bombing in 2013. wbz security analyst ed davis says there's a concerning difference though. >> these things were detonated with cell phone detonators. that's a sophistication from what we saw in boston. that gives them the ability to detonate from anywhere and it's troubling. >> mass state police say the commonwealth fusion center is monitoring information and will determine if there's a connection to massachusetts. the motive is unclear for the explosion in new york. the fbi is investigating an attack in minnesota as a possible act of terrorism. a 23-year-old somali man dressed as private security guard stabbed 9 people at the

witnesses say he made references to allah and asked one person if they were muslim. an isis linked news agencies says he was a soldier of the islamic state and a off duty police officer killed the attacker. 6 of the 9 victims have been released from the hospital and all are expected to recover. police searching for a suspect after a shooting outside a nightclub. this happened after 10 last night outside the club known as the garage. police say a man was shot multiple tis bullets grazed his head. investigators say it started with a fight. >> it started with an altercation apparently inside the club that spilled out into the parking lot and onto the street. and when the gunshots range out -- rang out. >> the club is on linden street and officers say the victim got around the corner onto prat street where he collapsed and was taken to the hospital. police saying the victim is expected to survive. today counselors will be on hand at three local schools

by a train. 14-year-old eli pilat was 9th grader at lincoln sudbury high school. he was killed walking along the tracks. the death remains under investigation this morning. he and his siblings used to go to school in newton. counselors will be on hand at newton north and newton south high schools today. a newton man accused of crashing his car into a restaurant and killing two people is expected in court today. police say brad march. two victims were killed there. 7 others were injured and casler will be arraigned at middlesex pierior court. -- compo. superior court. hillary clinton will head to philadelphia today before heading to new york to meet with world leaders. at the -- she will appear on

for us. up and down 93 soaking rain in southern new hampshire and back into northern massachusetts and we are drying out although we had rain a couple hours ago. there will be wet roadways tocontend w moisture out ahead of a cold front is slowly pushing through the region today. notice there's more wet weather back to the south. so it's a day you want the umbrella and raincoat on stand by. it's not going to rain the entire day. you notice the actually weak ann bit coming into eastern massachusetts. we need the rain. by late morning and midday additional showers and downpours fire up. during the course of the afternoon there's pockets of rain and embedded thunderstorm can't be ruled out and as we head into the evening commute most will be lighter at that point but scattered showers still left over particularly north of boston and that will linger through the evening hours and some of the showers may linger into early tomorrow morning as well. so high temperatures today.

4:53 we are following breaking news more suspicious devices found in the the new york city area. right now the fbi is on the scene over the hudson river in elizabeth new jersey. the city's mayor says five devices were found inside a bag in a trash can near a train station last night.
