sleeping in the front doorstep of a local bar. investigators say they are trying to completely understand his network. the bombing suspect was reeled into an ambulance after a shootout with police in linden, new jersey. he'd been on the run since saturday's bombing in new york city and the jersey shore. police say the naturalized citizen from afghanistan was caught on surveillance video near the explosion in chelsea that left 29 people injured. >> we have every reason to believe this was an act of terror. >> he was sleeping in the doorway of a local bar. he shot one officer and took off running. >> he did return fire to the suspect striking him several times and taking him down.

his apartment and collected evidence. investigators recovered a backpack filled with bombs at a nearby train station, including one that a robot detonated. authorities say there is no indication he is part of a cell. president obama is urging everyone to remain vigilant. >> i think it's important to remember what terrorists and violent extremists are trying to do. they are tg innocent people but they also want to inspire fear in all of us. >> police have detained at least five others in connection with the bombings. >> last night the fbi revealed that they detained a car of interest and interview some of the people in that car but they ultimately released those people. the nypd is also upping patrols and the mayor is telling new yorkers to just remain vigilant.

checked into ahmad khan ramahi in their databases and have found no connection between him and our state. >> the fbi also doesn't believe there's a connection between ahmad khan ramahi and a man who went on a stabbing rampage in a minnesota mall. investigators say a 22-year-old somali man dressed as a private security guard, stabbed nine people at a mall in st. cloud on saturday night. tn at least one person if he or she was muslim. a news agency linked to isis says the man was a soldier of the islamic state. an off-duty police officer killed him. three victim still in the hospital are expected to recover. we are following every development in these investigations. stay with wbz news on the air and online for the very latest information. now to the storm watch. rain falling for most of the day, maybe not a drought and

belichick. give us some insight into it. >> the shoulder bone connected to the collarbone. because of where it sits at the top of the shoulder, it's really easy to injure and ac joint often from a direct fall onto the shoulder like we saw with ji simple sprain to a complete tear with disruption of the shoulder, which could require surgery. sometimes ac injuries are also called shoulder separation but that's different from a shoulder dislocation. >> what is the treatment? >> we are hearing it's just a sprain. the treatment is similar as it is with any sprain. resting the joint, ice, inflammatory medications followed by therapy.

athletes who don't actually rely on their shoulder to throw, they can quickly return to the game with protective equipment. obviously, he needs to be able to throw. we are talking about likely two to six weeks. this is complete speculation. we don't know exactly what's going on with them but i think it will be a while. >> what does it impair? >> the motion of being able to follow through. >> i have to say, impressed. patriots fans confident that the team can overcome even this setback telling bill shields victories don't depend on a single player. >> reporter: at the patriots pro shop today, there was no sense of what do we do now? the fans were confident the patriot way would prevail over injuries. >> i'm pretty sure everyone is going to pull together, and it's going to be great.

he slowly walks up to the defense table six months after prosecutors say his car slammed into the west newton sweet tomatoes pizza shop. he entered his plea. >> not guilty. >> relatives of two people killed in the crash looked on. eleanor mealy, an office manager who volunteered at church and young attorney gregory moran. >> the defendant accelerated washington street through a red light, clipped two vehicles, then drove straight into the sweet tomatoes restaurant. >> one witness said he was driving so fast a wind blew as the suv passed. seven people were injured. both attorneys mentioned he had multiple sclerosis. >> we have found that multiple sclerosis was not the cause of this crash. >> his attorney said the ordeal

hanging over the harbor. the driver went off the road and nearly onto the beach below . police say the seawall managed to stop the car. no one was hurt. the driver doesn't know how the car wound up with that but police are now investigating. now to an even more odd seaside rescue. a man gets his head stuck in rocks on the rhode island coast and rescuers used all of oil to dropped his cell phone between the rocks when he reached down to get the cell phone his head got stuck between the rocks. >> all of the oil. we managed to spray him down and apply the oil and we were able to dislodge him. >> it took more than two hours to free the man. he went to the hospital with hypothermia but is expected to be okay. lisa? tonight raw meat exposed to the scorching summer heat and

the story is raising serious questions about food safety. we spent weeks doing surveillance at a rare house for small restaurants. watch as people loaded meat and other perishables into trunks and the beds of pickup trucks in 90- degree weather. day-after-day cameras found countless workers making no effort to keep the food cool while they traveled to businesses around the boston area. experts say that can create a health issue >> we know as the temperature goes up, the bacteria love the warm temperature anymore -- they multiply more rapidly. >> i wanted to ask you about the meat you put in your trunk. why not put it in a cooler or something? >> tonight what food wholesalers are doing to try to prevent bad habits like that and how the restaurant industry reacted when we show them some of that undercover video. the story on wbz news at 11:00.

and rain deficits, they are still very sizable. unless you are one of those towns that has three or 4 inches of rain, there's a pretty big departure. i wouldn't expect any big changes to the drought update. for tonight, humid. we'll see some fog and a few showers moving through. we stay through the 60s. very tropical air in place. we are waiting for this on it's going to get here tomorrow and that's going to kick out the clouds and humidity. overnight a lot of clouds. a little more additional rainfall and tomorrow morning the chance for a few more showers across cape cod and the islands. if we get rain tomorrow, that's the best place or best chances of seeing it. we see increasing son from west to east. drying out during the afternoon. a very warm day. 82 boston, 85 in lawrence, pittsburgh up to 84. with some more cloud cover across far southeastern mass.
