. this noon, new details emerging about the man police say planted several bombs in new york and new jersey. we've learned he left a message referencing the boston marathon is hospitalized facing attempted murder charges. police arrested him after a shootout. we have team coverage for you this noon. wee start in new jersey. >> reporter: well, chris, kate, federal bureau of investigation agents continue to canvass the area of this linden bar where rahami was found sleeping yesterday morning. now sources tell cnn, that right after he was arrested, rahami

with law enforcement. we're learning more about ahmad khan rahami, the man charged with the attempted murder of police officers in linden, new jersey, and the prime suspect in weekend bombings in new jersey and new york. surveillance video shows rahami dragging a bag in the chelsea part of new york city the same area where a bomb exploded injury 29 people. another unexploded device was found nearby and that's where sources tell cnn a handwritten note was found previous terrorists, including the boston marathon bombers. >> it's just one more reminder of the extraordinary skill and sacrifice and courage of our law enforcement officers. >> reporter: in new york for the u.n. general assembly president obama preyed law enforcement for their quick work, tracking down rahami and arresting him. two linden police officers were injured in a shootout with the 28 year old naturalized citizen

okay. right now, investigators say they have no reason to believe rahami was part of a larger terror cell. although, sources tell cnn evidence suggests he was not acting alone. a senior law enforcement official tells cbs news rahami traveled to his native afghanistan at least three times in the last two years and also visited pta $5.2 million bail, in connection to the police shootout. federal prosecutors are still weighing what charges they might file in connection to the bombings. wee live in new jersey, wbz news. >> thank you very much inch the attacks have boston authorities stepping up security for some the blast in new jersey and new york are a stark reminder of the attack in our city. nicole jacobs is live at the statehouse. you just smoke with the police commissioner. what is he saying?

certainly, chris he says it brings back memories. but we certainly cannot ignore that the bombs planted in new york and new jersey were very similar to those pressure cooker bombs planted on boil ston street three years ago. this weekend of terror in the tristate was an eerie reminder of that fateful day in boston. the boston marathon where three were killed and hundreds more injured during those attacks, all at the hands of the brothe, made according to cnn by ahmad khan rahami. according to cnn, again, a note left at a pressure cooker bomb mentioning several terrorist attacks, including the boston marathon. boston police commissioner remembers that day and the days following all too well. >> that was five days of hell here in the city, and both -- i think physically and mentally for everybody involved. and, you know, it's troubling

would replicate that. and so you know, again, i think we've gotten a lot of better with the intelligence sharing. i think if anything we learned that day is how valuable it is for us to work together. i haven't seen the note, but it troublings me that we have copy cats and, you know, in the way that played out. we're thankful we had no one killed. >> reporter: the commission says certainly patrols and security is beefed uper but he says really what will help them in any process when there is a homegrown terrorist lurking around is for the public to be their eyes and ears. so again, he took this opportunity to repeat if you see something, say something. we're live at the statehouse this afternoon. nicole jacobs. >> we'll continue following all the developments for you from the investigation. we'll bring them to you as soon

breaking news now at noon. hollywood golden couple are heading for divorce. jolie has filed to end her marriage with pitt citing ir reconcilable differences. the couple has six kids. the attorney told the aspecialed press the decision was made, quote, for the health of the family. turning to the weather now, a great start out there but you can see the sun is trying to break out this afternoon over the city of boston. humidity is high, though. and changes are on the wayor noon with a first look at the forecast. barry, still feels like summer. >> it certainly does. it's still stuffy out there. we have this high humidity. that's what makes it feel like summer. it hasn't turned all that warm yet, but it's almost oppressive humidity which hangs in there. i can't wait to get rid of it. we will be seeing an end to this eventually but we've got to put up through it -- with it for the afternoon as the dew points continue 65 to 70 degrees around

there's hardly any wind out there so that makes it tougher. there's not ventilation. but there is dry air coming in. eventually that's going to push most of the showers which are still occurring on cape cod which is good news, they need the rain down there just as much as we do too. so a few showers have been crossing to bruise ter or leans and up near wellesley. so continuing to have a few more showers throughout the afternoon as it stays cloudiest down here. watch the afternoon as we get some clearing. better weather, mond boston where the temperatures will go up to the low and in a few cases the middle 80s. the air is turning a little bit less humid out there as well. but we have to wait until maybe later tonight and tomorrow before we feel the really comfortable air. i'll have that forecast for you the next seven days i'll see new a few minutes. >> all right. thank you very much. you can get weather updates any time just by dunn loading the weather app.

well in just about 30 minutes, a disaster drill will get underway in downtown wooster. about 200 actories will gather where they will be treated by first responders and then transported to local hospitals where the drill will continue. the drill will run from about 12:30 to 5:00 tonight. this was planned well before this weekend's bombings. and today there is extra security at maynard schools after a threat. anna meiler is live with the latest for us. where did they find this threat? >> reporter: and chris, the threat was found scribbled on shotgun shells outside of a local woman's home. so even though police say the threat is most likely a hoax, they're taking it very seriously. >> every time you hear something like this, you worry. >> reporter: the start of the school day felt different in may marred this morning with police cruisers parked out front of the buildings. they're beefing up security because of a bomb threat targeting school buses.

than that. i think a lot of people hesitant to come in and -- or take the bus. >> reporter: police say a resident called them monday evening saying she found a bag of shotgun shells. messages were scribbled on those shells referencing terrorism and a bomb planted on a bus in town. >> that seems so strange to me. but it also seems somewhat juvenile. you know, which then sort of is a relief because you think it's probably some kids fooling around. >> reporter: police they're taking it seriously. they alerted the massachusetts state police fusion center and federal authorities. the state police bomb squad thoroughly searched the vicinity and all four of the town's school buses. investigators say no danger was found. but the recent explosion in new york city, these patients say no threat should be taken lightly. >> on this day and age, things are a little more real and close to home. you know, maybe not this close to home, but we need to take

their kids peace of mind. but even so, audrey says for today, she's going to stay close by. >> i'm not leaving town today. i'm sticking around home. we'll see how it goes. i'm sure it will be fine. >> reporter: police say they will find and prosecute the person behind this threat and they say even as a hoax, this incident qualifies as a terroristic threat, which is a felony that carries up to 20 years in prison. reporting live from maynard, an ma mile a high school gym teacher accused of assault is back on the job today. the wilmington superintendent says anthony altieri is returning to his position as a physical education teacher and school officials believe he hasn't posed any threat to students or taft. he was placed on paid administrative leave for several days after allegations of assault. developing right now, the united nations stopping all shipments to syria after a

syria and russia -- syria and russia deny responsibility. russia says there is no evidence of an air strike but witnesses say dozens of missiles pound the area from helicopters and land even after the aid team was hit. new at noorngs barack obama has delivered his final speech as president to the unitied nations. he called for world leaders to work together and move forward. >> so the answer cannot simply rejection of global integration. instead, we must work together to make sure the benefits of such integration are broadly shared. >> the president also urged leaders to help millions of syrian refugees later today mr. obama will host a summit with the goal of raising millions. the mbta has plans to improve the red line. they want to replace 86 red line cars instead of refurbishing

planned parenthood votes is responsible for the content of this advertising. . the just tis department is now investigating the tulsa police shooting there killed an unarmed black man. police responded to reports that a vehicle stalled in the road on friday. new video from police dash cam and a police helicopter shows terrance crutcher with his hands in the air. he drops to the ground after being shocked with a stun gun. then a female officer opens fire shooting and killing him.

the family says the video says the police prejudged him. they're calling for peace. well more controversy today on the campaign trail. this time donald trump's son and it's all over this tweet. the donald trump jr. sent out today likening syrian refugees to scuttles. the graph -- skittles. the graphic says three would kill you would you take a handful. that's our syrian refugee problem. critics are firing back pointing out that candy. a former president could be crossing party lines come this november in the election. kathleen kennedy townsend said in a facebook post that george bush sr. told her he plans on voting for hillary clinton this this year's election. a spokesperson for president bush would not confirm nor deny that claim. well we are at september 20th and it is hot and steamy as if we were in the middle of august. >> serious, it kind of feels nice hanging on. >> it is.

although it's still in the 70s now. it's going to get drier. that's the good news. humidity has been stifling around here without much wind to go along with it. we have dew points way up in the upper 60s, 70 or so. we're starting to see some brightness as we look out at boston right now. seeing some sun trying to peek through. there is more and more sunshine breaking out north and west of boston. so the trend is for drier air to eventually get here, but the dew point i humidity when the dew point is between 65 and 70. we have a light sea breeze in boston southeast at ten miles per hour. . it is sunnier off to north and west. so this afternoon, it it will turn partly sunny and the temperature will go up a little bit but that sea breeze is going to continue along the coast. that will keep it mostly in the middle 70s. but the air turns a little bit drier later this evening and then turns a lot drier by tomorrow morning. so that should be very nice indeed. you'll feel the difference

72 in boston. there are areas in western and northwest new england where it is in the upper 70. there is cooler air in canada. and more importantly there is drier air up there as well. we've got the high humidity now, but these are the dew points and lower 60s. it doesn't suddenly crash down, the temperature and dew points drops by ten degrees just like the snap of a finger. it's going to take a while author -- for this to ooze in here. but it will be a lot more noticeable tomorrow. the high temperatures this afternoon could be 80, 84 in boston. there's still a lot of hot air left here. there's still a shot we'll have upper 80s here before this week is over. we have another cold front coming along its way here and that will help to introduce the drier air from canada to a feel it tomorrow, this front here is sort of stationary giving a few

will move offshore. you see, most of the showers will be ending by mid-afternoon or so. because it's going to be still moist into the night time hours, the sky is going to clear out, there probably will be quite a bit of fog formation tonight. it will burn off tomorrow morning and disappear. tomorrow will be a different day. feeling fine, much lower humidity. not too many clouds. i think we will have a few fair-weather clouds tomorrow. its side. so about 66 in the city tonight. 54 to 62 in the suburbs and there will be varying amounts of cloud cover and fog, i should say, with low to middle 60s in many of the suburb. looking ahead, again here with go with some 80s. it's going to be in the mid to upper 80s on thursday. friday should be fine. on thursday evening it should be

. he was rescued from boston's callahan tunnel. this is little callahan. the five-year-old cat found by a state trooper inside the callahan tunnel after he was hit by a car. he's now recovering at the mspcas angel center and will be up for adoption in weeks. his brother is sumner. >> starting tomorrow samsung users will be get new phones. >> customers can get free replacement from samsung, their wireless carrier or the store where they bought the phone. last week they called the phone after dozens of reports after batteries catching on fire. customers were told to stop using those phones immediately. amazon plans to build the story. a post says they're looking to hire staff for a bookstore at legacy place.
