fascinating brissett is going to get the start. garoppolo is not even going to dress. he suffered an a.c. shoulder strain in the second quarter and never returned. he is apparently not red to go. as for rob gronkowski, all signs point to a big tight end of the regular season. the owner robert kraft thinks he's playing. he said that would be wise to think that way. gronk hasn't been on the field since an injure last month. gronk did not play last week after getting injured in the opener. we all know how the patriots handle injuries. it's always, always close to the vest. patriots are looking to go 3-0. paula, that's the story. back to you. >> thanks so much.

ready to go. football is a team sport. one player is not going to make or break a win or loss. roche, lots of story lines with this game tonight. >> reporter: yeah, liam. let's give you what i think may be three keys to a patriots victory tonight. let's begin with determination on defense. the patriots struggled through the second half sunday against miami. they got torched and lit up by ryan and e they need to play better. we all thought they would be coming in, maybe win the game that way tonight, win it for the offense. number 2, jacoby brissett needs to step up literally. if you watch the texans pass rushers, they go straight and inside. if brissett can jump up, he will be fine. finally, wins the turnover battle. three kansas city fumbles last
5:32 pm
turned the bull over. three interceptions for the quarterback. if the pats can win the turnover game, i think they will be in good shape here and the addition of lisa hughes is said go a long way in helping jacoby brissett get the job done on offense. through go, we'll have more coming up at 6:00. for now, liam, back to you. >> roche-y, thank you very much. the man watching game, patriots owner robert kraft let's go back to david and lisa. you had an interesting conversation with him. >> reporter: yeah. it went well. we have a little bit of information from the owner tonight. >> it's almost like he was beaming and ready to give us great news for the team. >> reporter: absolutely. if there's anything about him, he exuded the confidence. i said how are you feeling going into tonight.
5:33 pm
>> well, i believe we're growing to win. >> reporter: score? >> no i don't do scores. all that matters to me is whether we win. i don't think too many teams can say, you know, they have their third string quarterback starting a game in the their week and they feel they are going to win. that is ape great credit to our coaching staff and our system and the players that we have. we have a good, year. it's very exciting. i think our loyal fans will also appreciate how special it is. >> reporter: tell me something about jacoby that we don't know. >> he's as cool as a cucumber. this is me speaking without any knowledge. i wouldn't be surprised if he went for it all pep's got a great arm. i've seen him do it in practice
5:34 pm
about both he and jimmy is they're cool. they don't panic. thinking of jimmy in arizona and jacoby coming in last week at the end of the second period. for a guy that never started, third string quarterback, was drafted, he's got a nice demeanor, cool as a cucumber, and the players respect him. when an event like this happens, that's important. so i think they are all rooting for him to do well. >> reporter: is rob gronkowski playing tonight? >> what do you think? >> reporter: i will say yes. >> i think you are a wise lady. >> reporter: i hope i'm right. >> i hope you're right, too. >> there is the breaking news from robertcast. we're joined now by tracy pox.

that gronk is going to play, it is a huge play with especially the backup to the backup playing quarterback. >> i'm glad we now know. i had a chance to see him in practice. it did look like we're going to see him warming up any minute. it gives brissett another option and also between him and benette out there now, you go back to the 2011-2012 season with aaron hernandez, and i think it makes it really tough for the texans defense. >> how much fun is it for the story lines coming into this game? >> i love it. this is what it's all about. we don't know how it will play out, especially here in patriot city. you don't know what exactly you are going to get from bill belichick and this team, right? he can say gronk is going to play and then the next thick you know he's not out there.
5:36 pm
the uncertainty with the patriots and facing this team with the texans it will be a great one. >> we all remember that big game where the texans came into town wearing letterman jacket and the patriots trounced them. obviously different coaching. is this a different team? is this a tougher team? >> i think it is. bill brings a new toughness to the team as well. you have a new quarterback this year. you have stronger. that's what it is guided by. jj watt is finally healthy. i think it's interesting for bill o'brien to be coming back and coming back home. as he says to us, his parents are big patriots fans. he said they are probably wearing patriots uniforms under those shirts today. >> it is so great to have you
