cloudy weather here in southern new england. it's cleared out the berkshires and broken clouds in southern new hampshire. it's scattered clouds in portsmouth. it looks like it's cleared up to boston. we have a lot of lower clouds in place. so a lot of the clouds happening this morning. it's still kind of on the damp side, especially south of boston. we'll have the sunny evident weather this afternoon so we will go through a breaking for sunshine. afternoon high 68. a little cool breeze. tomorrow there will be a gusty breeze. bright and crisp tomorrow morning. i'll have more coming up. we do begin with breaking news this morning. four people are dead, at least one more badly hurt. a manhunt is now underway for the person who opened fire at a mall in washington state. is this a photo of the suspect taken by mall surveillance

washington state patrol. they say he's wearing a dark-colored shirt armed with a rifle and last seen walking towards the highway. law enforcement believes he acted alone. around 7:00 last night, their time, the man just started shooting. witnesses say the shots seem to be concentrated near the macy's store. the mall was evacuated about an hour and a half later. the fbi, seattle office has also been assisting in the investigation. they say there is no reason to think there would beth this has been an active scene all night long, residents are being told to stay indoors until the shooter is arrested. >> this is a pretty rural part of washington. so there's a lot of places to run to. there's a lot of houses. it's a big commercial area to the east of us. so there's -- there's spots for him to go. >> at some point today, police will begin allowing mall employees and customers back on to the property to collect their cars, but not until the crime scene teams are finished. again, four people are dead.

in a shooting in a mall in washington state. wbz will of course continue to follow this breaking story through the morning. and now to a developing story, demonstrators have ignored a curfew for a second straight night in charlotte, north carolina. staying out well into the morning to protest the shooting death of keith lamont scott. as was the case last night, police let them stay as long as the d out of hand. coming up in our next half hour, a closer look at the video of keith scott's final moments and why some say it will not end the controversy over his death. the mbta police could be wearing body cameras pretty soon. the superintendent plans to sit down with the various police unions to discuss the camera program. he also wants surveillance cameras on every train in the mbta system. so far no rollout date has been

a mother who almost died of an overdose right in front of her little 2-year-old daughter now says she believes video of the incident may save her life. wbz katy brace spoke to that mom in an interview you'll only see here. >> reporter: a mom passed out as her 2-year-old daughter shuffled around her. the store employee took this video in the toy aisle of the lawrence family dollar. that woman on the floor doesn't want to show her face knowing >> it shouldn't happen, period. it shouldn't have happened. i shouldn't have taken anything, i shouldn't have been where i was or who i was with. >> reporter: mandy says over the past year, she has struggled with i aserious drug problem. she says she had just senioritied he want nil when she got a call to pick up her car. >> if i -- pick up her daughter. >> i knew i was going to be like that, i wouldn't have been like that. that's not what i want my daughter to see.

that was a cool summer. well we've had a pretty hot summer, there's no question about that and extremely dry one. we're still dealing with the extreme drought here and the recommend fictions from the dry weather is continuing to mount around the region, even though we had some more rain last night, it was nice to hear that rain falling last evening. and the rain is gone now. we have leftover clouds and the chance of precipitation pretty low today. in just a moment a goose egg. ramps up monday night and tuesday morning it's perhaps pouring again with thunder in scattered spots. 50s right now. let's open the shot. all this cool air is going to be draining right in the northeast. 39 degrees this morning. won't be long before you folks will be seeing some snow. down here, we have 60s to the south but our air is coming right from canada. so we have a cool shot coming in here. the clouds that we have now are going to start to break up during the day.

and even places that it doesn't, become totally clear in some spots this morning, they're going to be filling up with quite a few clouds. so a changeable sky today for sure as we go to the mid to upper 60s for highs. that's it. after yesterday's lower 80s and all the warm days we've had this week, this will be quite a change. overnight tonight, we have temperatures falling off into the low 50s to near 50 in boston by 6:00. we have 40s in all of the suburbs. we have 30s out here wooster county, westward. western wooster county. we have a frost advisory in some out there for potential pockets of frost. the temperature will go up tomorrow. the wind will be stronger tomorrow 12 to 25 miles an hour. so kind of a cold breeze as it gets up around 62 to 64. that's all. so below average temperatures with a few passing afternoon clouds. and as far as going through the period here, here's what we have. we have the clouds breaking up today to give us some sunshine.

so it's going to warm up a little bit today. but not like we have had. cool weather, not too much wind today, it gets really cold tonight as the blue shades indicating. then it starts warming right up during tomorrow. but not all that much. lower 60s and it gets very cold coming up for sunday night into monday morning. in fact, the monday morning lows will be about 46 in boston, 40s on the cape, but 30s in the nearby suburbs and a few mid-30s it could be a few touch it's of frost. i think the frost be expanded by monday morning, because it's going to be pretty clear and pretty cold out there. here is my seven day accurate forecast, 68 days as it becomes partly sunny. 64 lots of sunshine with a few scattered afternoon clouds tomorrow with a gusty cold or wind. cold start on monday morning, then warming up to 66 to 68. some high clouds late in the day. pouring rain tuesday morning for a bit. then it ends, then the end of the week and next weekend is definitely uncertain. i'm not sure how it's all going to pan out right now.

washington state. four women have been killed during a shootout at a mall north of seattle. and now a manhunt is underway. for the man who opened fire. police have released this photo of the suspect that was taken by mall surveillance cameras. the shooting began around 7:00 last night on the west coast. witnesses say the shots seemed to be concentrated near the mace kris's store. >> i heard about one, and then two, and then that's when i turned around and then that's when rounds started 4, 5, 6. so it -- it wasn't all at once, it's more like a shot and then to seconds later, another shot, you know. so.... >> the mall was evacuated about an hour and a half later. the fbi is now assisting and they say there is no reason to think there would be other coordinated attacks. checking our other top stories. the patriots have another injured qb. jacoby brissett who led the pats to a win on thursday, injured

it's unclear whether whether the he will need surgery. the next game is in eight days against the bills. it is possible that garoppolo who hurt his shoulder against miami could be ready to play in that game. and the fourth night of protests in short, north carolina ended early this morning mopping -- in charlotte north carolina. police say protesters were disbursing peacefully. well, their anger stems from the shooting death of keith body camera footage. we are seeing new video from his wife's cell phone. it doesn't show the actual shooting but does record the moments before. >> reporter: peaceful protesters marched friday evening in charlotte hours after new video of keith lamont scott's final moments became public. >> don't shoot him. don't shoot him. he has no weapon. >> ra kia scott pleading with

[ shots ]. >> reporter: it also does not shot the actual shooting.it afterwards. attorneys for the scott family released the footage friday after three nights of violent protests. the scott family and protesters have been calling on police to release their video of the shooting. but so far investigators have refused to make public. >> if i were to put it out inzprim nantly and it doesn't give you good context, it can inflame the situation. >> reporter: scott's mother had this message for protesters.

where there were local downpours. nashua got over .40. so there were someplaces where it came down hard briefly. and there was a couple of flashes ever lightning even in a couple of spots. but what is over with now, so the chance of precipitation really drops off to a big goose egg here tomorrow and monday. then really ramps up late monday night into tuesday morning. we could get another round of rain. but it's going to be fast-moving systems. they're not slowing down and rain pretty hard first thing tuesday morning. that's pretty much it for a while. these are the temperatures right where it is cleared out. at the airport in sanford this is an accurate thermometer. it's in a low-lying area at the airport, plaid, good radiation of cooling. there's hardly wind. the sky is clear. it's 38 degrees. the 40s come down into southeastern new hampshire where it's scattered clouds and may have moved down into a northeastern county. but this is where it's all clear. a few scattered clouds where it is colder. where it's all in the 50s for the most part it's still an

better. we'll see more and more breaks developing. some areas will see a decent ability of sunshine today. other areas which are clearing out for a while this morning will see more clouds forming. so a changeable sky yielding these highs today for the most part between 66 and 69 and not like we had yesterday which was about 78 to 84. and this is where it is still hot from flashville west and southwest ward. all in the middle to lower 90s today. it's cool out in the west. we're watching that storm karl which is side swiping bermudas aa speak to you right now at hamilton burr mu da, winds -- bermuda. so the storm is going just to the east of bermuda. and it's about 50 miles, the center of it is southeast of bermuda at the present time with 65-mile per hour sustained winds mostly off to the southeast of the storm's center. it will take it mostly way out of the ocean.

way. it may become a minimal hurricane in the next 12 to 24 hours. it's way out in the atlantic so say good-bye to tropical storm karl. in the meantime we'll say hello to some sunshine. again as i mentioned, a changeable sky. we'll see lots of sunshine for tomorrow with a few afternoon clouds and the temperatures will be on the chilly side. take a look at the numbers. 68 today. and then we start out tomorrow morning in the upper 30s to middle 40s in most suburbs, about 50 in downtown boston. 68 again on monday after very chilly start. but much lighter wind. and then a wet tuesday morning. at least for the morning commute and then the afternoon some breaks may show up and lots clouds around on wednesday. just not sure how thursday and friday, i want -- i'm leaning more toward a better solution in terms of -- i say better, i mean better -- better would be getting a will the of rain, of course. so it depends on how you look at it. there are some signs that we'll

acted alone. around 7:00 last night in washington, the man started shooting. witnesses say the shots seemed to be concentrated near the macy's store, the mall was evacuated about an hour and a half later. the fbi seattle office has also been assisting in the investigation. they say there is no reason to think there would be other coordinated attacks. this has been an active scene all night, residents are being told to stay indoors until the shooter is arrested. >> this is a pretty r so there's a lot of places to run to. there's a lot of howevers, it's a big commercial area to the east of us. so there's spots for him to go. >> at some point today, police will begin allowing mall employees and customers back on to the property to collect their cars, but not until crime scene teams are finished. again, five people have been killed in a shooting in a mall in washington state. wbz, of course, will continue to follow this breaking story and

now to a developing story, demonstrators have ignored a curfew for a second straight night in charlotte, north carolina. staying out well into the morning to protest the shooting death of keith lamont scott as was the case last night, police let them stay as long as the demonstrations did not get out of hand. coming up in our next half hour, a closer look at the video of keith scott's final moments and why some say will not end the controversy over his death. the mbta police according to the boston herald, the superintendent plans to sit down with the various police unions to discuss the camera program. he also wants surveillance cameras on every train in the mbta system. so far no rollout date has been set. and now to a wbz exclusive. a mother who almost died of anover dose in front of her 2-year-old daughter now says she believes video of that incident may save her life.

. check out this very close call. yikes between a boater and airplane. a man out for a sail near logan airport was recording at just the right moment when a plane came a couple hundred feet from hitting the mast of the boat. a low-flying plane can generate winds powerful enough to overturn a boat. wow. that's scary, huh? >> i've been out there in the harbor and this is quite a while

drinking less sodas. fried foods, control obesity. less red meats more whole grains. so i think prevention is very important. you can do that through a good diet and lifestyle, more exercise, weight loss also very important. but i think we have to look a little bit more and further with technology. everybody has their iphones and phones they can look up ways to eat healthier a tendency to, you know, eat a lot of cashes. >> big amounts also. >> fried foods and stuff like that. so i think creating that change starting this awareness of what is -- what we need. so eating more -- having more health -- conscious diet with whole grains that are prone to help diabetes. and sugar in general.
