daughter's classmates or someone i knew. i don't know. >> authorities have found someone who is related to the teenage suspect, dad in a home near the school and again at the school. two students and one teacher were shot. the students are expected to survive. we do not yet have an update on the teacher but we will stay on top of it. david and lisa? developing story tonight. we have learned the man who was rescued after a week lost at sea had violent episodes as a ch >> carmen was investigated in his grandfather's murder three years ago. court documents show that years earlier he held another child hostage with a knife. christina hager live in vernon, vermont. >> reporter: nathan carmen left his home after talking with us and he hasn't been home since. >> i just want to thank the public for their prayers and for their continuing prayers for my mother. >> as nathan carmen thinks those who rescued him, his father defend him against

were alone at sea. almost three years after her father, nathan's grandfather, was murdered in his connecticut home and unsolved homicide. >> they are the two closest people to my son in the world. let me just say this, there's no way he would ever injure either one of them. >> he was rescued from the life raft he was week. a foreclosure but with the promise of rehabbing it. police left with a computer modem, gps sim card, and letter hand written by nathan carmen. >> i think that it's very suspicious now. >> according to the search warrant, he took his mother

planned and made boat repairs which could have potentially rendered his boat unsafe for operation. then there are documents from connecticut where nathan carmen was the last person known to be with his grandfather the night before john was shot to death. a search warrant says family members were so afraid of nathan they hired armed private security to protect their homes . police submitted a murder warrant for him two years ago but prosecutors said they needed more information. and now this strange turn of events. >> without any other leads, they then hounded him for this for the past three to four years. it's unfair to the poor kid. it's not that type of individual. >> we just learned the associated press spoke with nathan carmen again. he told reporters he had

she was trounced in the primary. the two speaking to college students at the university of new hampshire trying to get support from young voters. after mono live with more tonight. >> reporter: in fact, they seemed brought more comfortable together today joining forces over affordable college tuition. they last appeared together in july, a more awkward even after sanders left the race, but she needs his help getting those voters. taking the stage with bernie sanders underscores hillary clinton's need to connect with younger voters. most of whom were seated together on risers and some admitting clinton doesn't give them the energy that sanders once did. >> she is not new, so she sort of represents everything that we saw was wrong with the way things are going. >> clinton and sanders aligned over the issue of free tuition at public colleges and universities, and with a jab at donald trump's tax cut proposal, sanders tried to make it clear trump is not a friend of college students with mounting debt.

tonight the fbi has identified the two men that it wanted to talk to about the bombing in new york city. they were seen on surveillance video picking up a piece of luggage on the night that a bomb went off in manhattan's chelsea neighborhood. the fbi now says it knows their names. it knows that they were tourists who have already left the country and they are not considered to be suspects. however, the fbi is still traveling overseas to speak with those men. for the first time print since president obama took off,o his vetoes. the senate and house voted overwhelmingly today in support of a bill that lets families of the 9/11 attack victims sue saudi arabia. 15 of the 19 attackers were born in saudi arabia. families think a lawsuit could offer new information and could prevent future attacks. saudi arabia and its allies have warned that if the bill becomes law, there will be repercussions. a high school football coach now on the sidelines.

burlington high school's varsity football coaches of under investigation. there are accusations of verbal misconduct toward his players. >> and the school says he is on paid leave while they investigate. hour jim smith is live with the story. jim? >> reporter: word is spreading quickly here in burlington tonight. sean maguire has been a football coach for years but for now he is at least temporarily

a disturbing allegation concerning the burlington high football program. adversity coach sean maguire placed on paid leave after allegations of inappropriate behavior, specifically accusations of verbal misconduct toward players by the coach. local young people quick to react. >> football is like a really serious sport, so coaches have to get into it to amp up the players. it could be a player is being oversensitive about it, or coach put overstepped his bounds. >> the school superintendent is asking the public for patients and in a statement says, the burlington public schools is a safe and welcoming educational community and we take any allegations of inappropriate verbal actions or behavior seriously. there are no allegations of physical abuse, is alleged verbal. in the meantime, an investigation is now underway. >> you really shouldn't be talking down to anybody as a coach. you should be getting them in a good, happy mood so they can

minutes ago with sean maguire's lawyer. the attorney telling me tonight that she and her client are not aware of the details of the allegations right now but in her words, we are confident that once the investigation is completed, the school system will find that he has not done anything wrong. there is no timetable on this investigation at least that we know of. jim smith, wbz news. >> thank you. several students at newton north high school are going to be pued school property yesterday waving a confederate flag. they then post of the stunt on social media. the principal says it is unacceptable behavior and flies in the face of newton north values of an inclusive welcoming school. >> we were just talking a second ago, this is like fleece happy weather. enjoy the feeling of putting on the fleece because it's cooler. >> today was my first day. >> still feeling good about this weather. >> when the clock changes,

>> in the state legislature, you can write to the governor if you are interested in this. >> i have a hard time wrapping my head around this. it would never change the clock. >> stayed the same. >> let's talk about today. cool air going on. 61 the high in boston. not many days of below average temperatures over the course of really the entire year. the whole year has been very chill in the air. temps in the 50s. worcester one of the cool spots at 51. a little drizzle and missed out there. feeling a little more like october. sucked into the clouds here, meanwhile to the north much of maine and northern new hampshire getting into vermont in the sunshine. that's the way much of this week will go. watching this big area of low pressure dives further south today. this is going to create a flood event in the next two days in and around washington dc. that we'll be a storage watch. they are expecting a lot of rain.

couple days. for us it is just drizzle. temps in the 50s overnight. not a lot of temperature movement tomorrow, although one change for tomorrow compared too today. the clouds will be persistent in the morning. as we head toward midday and the afternoon, dryer air will try to nosedown from the north. that means we could get some sunshine across new hampshire, much of maine, even northern efforts to six. still cool but a break from the clouds. i think will stay socked in south of boston. all of southeast mass, rhode island, and nn in those clouds. again, not much rain. in terms of wind, they'll stay out of the northeast tonight and that wind has made it feel cooler. as we head into friday, they'll start to increase a little bit and pulled toward the east. so a very gusty day on friday, some rough seas expected if you plan on heading out to end of the week. we are also going to see some rain start to move in friday. toward the second half of the

from the south. looks like areas of showers on saturday, and a few more still in the area on sunday. a lot of clouds and still cool temperatures. in terms of rain chances, a little drizzle tomorrow is all we are talking about. by the end of friday, showers starting to nose into the area and a good chance of rain on saturday. still a pretty good chance of scattered showers on sunday as well. all told, best chance for a would be across the far southeastern massachusetts. i know we've said that a lot lately. at least a half inch looks likely across much of the area. some drought relief expected. in terms of temperatures, upper 50s to low 60s through sunday. if you took 57 degrees and you went five on either side of it, that's pretty much exactly where we live day and night

if whatever you're wearing, it's going to work for a while. we also have news in the tropics. watching the system which is tropical storm matthew. it is moving to the windward islands. we still have high confidence about its track up until about sunday. that's going to take it very close to jamaica. still very uncertain where it's going after that. it will had more toward the western end of cuba and it will take a quick turn and shoot the gap between cuba and haiti, or right over the nation and up toward the east coast. so what does that mean for you? where do we stand right now? imminent danger is what we would call it. they should be hurricane preps. be on alert if your plans take you to the bahamas or into florida as we look toward next week. and then all along the east coast, nothing to do yet. we are watching and seeing where things kind of shakeout over the next few days. keep a close eye on matthew, but we are in no imminent danger for now. here's your accuweather seven day. very cool stretch for us. hoping to get some sun tomorrow afternoon for a time, otherwise not a lot in the forecast.

the new england aquarium playing let's make a deal.

reality. the aquarium wants to build a park that will stretch from the greenway to the waterfront. however, the developer who owns the boston harbor garage needs to approve that. that developer wants to build a 600-foot tower on the site which the aquarium has opposed. the aquarium now says it could get behind a new building as long as it was appropriately sized but wouldn't give us any more details. just picture a nice little park out there so you can mark from h aquarium. >> i feel like this building project has been scaled and changed over time and now for the first time it looks like maybe all the parties could get behind it. a halloween decoration that perhaps is gone too far. >> the home depot is taking some heat for this scary peeper creeper. it has suction cups so in theory you could stick it on a window and scare somebody. the website describes it as perfect for scaring friends and family during halloween or any other time of year, which might be the real problem there.

live from the channel 4 studios in boston. this is wbz news at 5:30. now at 5:30, a horrific head-on collision killing three people. i'm paula ebben. >> and i'm liam martin. a vehicle crossed the divider, slammed into a car going the state police barracks. >> reporter: the state police are still being very quiet about all of this, but judging from what one witness saw, it sounds like there may have been a medical issue or maybe a mechanical issue with a dodge caravan. the end result, three fatalities. >> so i was in the house and i heard a crash. >> the bank that he heard turned out to be a head-on crash that killed three people. it was about 8:00 a.m.
