investigators. >> the lights went off and people started screaming. like, it wasn't a jolt, it was like completely thrown from one area to the next. >> reporter: jamie was in that packed first car as the train careened into the station. witnesses say the commuter train slammed through a barrier into a wall at full employee was inside of the terminal about 30 feet away from the crash. >> i observed him coming at a high rate of speed. it went over the bumper block, through the air, and traveled about another 40 feet and came to a rest. >> reporter: people were standing on the platform waiting to commute into new york city. >> there are folks hobbling around, people holding their limbs, holding backs and things like that. definitely bad injuries.

collapsed on top of the train and debris littered the reception area. >> these people were, like, you know, holding on to each other. >> they reached passengers trapped under mangled metal and this turned into a triage area. federal investigators will try to figure out what happened here. they will look at various factors including the condition of the track and the speed of the train. >>we the accident. the fact is that we're in the midst of an investigation. >> reporter: new jersey transit service has been suspended at the hoboken station indefinitely. now, engineers are also looking at the structural integrity of that nj transit terminal. that is, of course, because the train took down part of the roof of that terminal when it

shields who is right on the scene. bill? >> reporter: police are looking for two guys at this point. how they got those two, two still out there. the white house you see there is the one they broke into. two of them got away. of the two they arrested, one of them had a gun. >> yeah, just a little bit and dogs and cops with rifles. yeah. >> reporter: residents in this quiet town were on edge as heavily armed state and local police searched the woods. schools were ordered to shelter in place. police were posted there when classes ended. >> the response is gratifying. i don't know if we're being looked at. >> reporter: it started at mid- morning when four men broke

suspects ran. two were quickly caught. one of them had a gun. at this point, police believe it was a random break-in. >> what we are looking at is maybe a b&e ring, so to speaks is there have been house breaks reported just over the line. >> reporter: in the afternoon, a state police s.w.a.t. team re-entered the building that had been broken into in the first place. they came out empty handed. still, local residents watched it all >> and seeing the policeman with the assault rifle coming from the back of the church, and you know it had to be something heavy duty going on here. >> reporter: 40 minutes ago, police including the s.w.a.t. team rushed to a house down the street. something led them there, but they didn't arrest anybody. as you can seat traffic in back

two suspects out there. reporting live from hampton, i'm bill shields, wbz news. brookline police are searching for the man who exposed himself to minors. police say yesterday afternoon he was in a car and in at least one instance, he got out of that light colored four-door sedan without any pants or shoes. a new hurricane spinning in the atlantic. its name is matthew. we'll need to watch this one closely. chief meteorologist eric fi just came out on this eric. >> 75 mile-per-hour winds. the pressure is down to 993. it's strengthening over the last 24 hours. it's now clear the winward islands are off to the north side and it will continue this westward track over the next couple of days. it's eventually getting to category 2 status as it moves its way off to the west. then it's all about this

right in here. you can see the weather. there is a whole mess of active weather moving our way as we head into friday and this weekend. timing it out, tonight's going to be chilly. upper 40s and low 50s across the area. the clouds will be thickening up. tomorrow morning this particular model will have showers in the morning across the south coast, the cape and the island. then the showers will spread their way northward as you head through the afternoon so a raw day will stay in the 50s. we have the wind and will get the rain as the day goes on. so mainly cloudy for the morning rush, temps in the low 50s with the showers becoming more widespread. the east-northeast wind at 12 to 24 with higher gusts and scattered showers as we head toward our friday night. it will be a good one as we check out the movies and hang out indoors.
