not much but a little better. you'll be able to get outside and head to a local farm, do some apple picking, get outside and go for a walk or run. it's not going to be the same type of day. a lot of clouds but a little rain. still damp tomorrow. generally it's a dry day and the big news is watching matthew for next weekend. still a question does it effect our weather or go out to sea and columbus day week agenda one weakens weekends of the year. the traffic coming down from maine to new hampshire is the second most popular travel weekend of the year. pretty amazing. looks like we are going to have a fairly quiet day today. temperatures mostly in the 50s a lot of clouds but not much in the way of precipitation. seven day forecast is coming up. kerri. >> thank you so much. we begin this morning with a

we got rid of the rain and winds. temperatures in the 50s not so bad out there. a little bit of drizzle. i'll have the forecast for the entire day in the next seven coming up. campaign 2016 this morning the new york times is reporting that donald trump declared such a huge loss in his 1995 tax retu might have legally avoided paying taxes for the next 18 years. the paper received trump's returns in the mail and the documents have been verified by his former tax lawyer. brooks silva bragga has more. >> donald trump brought attention to leaked recordings of hilary clinton speaking about young voters at a

our weather late this weekend. it looked like it was going to stay off towards the east and i still think it will predominantly stay east of us but it could spoil our weekend. >> again? >> it's a week off so you never know. >> absolutely. and the whole thing could not effect us at all or it could come up and go up the bay worst case scenario but indeed it does bear watching here. still a category four storm so this is jamaica. here's haiti right here. dominican republic on the other side of the same island and there's cuba. right now the track to the east of jamaica so that's good for jamaica, clip the western portion of haiti not good for them and go right over cuba. this is going to be a problem for those areas and a lot of mountains down here. they get 10 to 15-inches of rain this causes mudslides and we've all seen the problems
5:19 am
so it is actually in terms of where it is best case scenario it goes in between jamaica and haiti and clips the western portions of cuba. that's what it's forecasted to do then sit over the bahamas and cause major problems depending on the track. then the question is what does it do after that? where does it go? does it move to towards the east and not impact the united states or does it impact the united states in some form here as we head for later in the week. the question is what happens as it comes up here. does it come up into new england, does it go out to sea? definitely a storm we are going to have to keep an eye on all week long and you'll be sick of the name matthew by the time we get to wednesday and thursday. temperatures mostly in the 50s and 40s. it's a cool morning but not as damp or windy as yesterday. a little bit of drizzle. won't be any steady rain at all
5:20 am
boston saw .84-inches. i had 1.44 at the house. very happy for all of that rain. it's a cloudy day not bright or damp. if you are headed to fenway maybe a spot or drizzle. basically that is about it so no problems getting the game in. gillette stadium mostly cloudy skies. i suppose there could be a brief two minute shower or something like that but mostly temperatures in the winds much lighter so almost members of the juriable in terms of winds across the area. no big problems at all. that game already happened yesterday and it was a much damper day. so the rain probability over the next couple of days 40% today in terms of measurable precipitation goes way down tomorrow and virtually nothing here for the rest of the week. does look like we don't have any precipitation really in the forecast. let's move through about 10:30
5:21 am
just about ready for bed mostly cloudy skies at that point no real precipitation. let's move through to the morning commute cloudy skies and roads should be dry for tomorrow it. we'll show you the seven day forecast here. 60 today mostly cloudy skies. maybe a brief shower tomorrow or later in the afternoon. then it looks pretty nice the rest of the week watching what matthew does by the time we get to saturday and sunday of next weekend. kerri? >> you'll be watching that bu you are one day closer to making it on the game show. you can try to win a spot on the wheel of fortune this week. is it your birthday today on october 2? let's see who you share it with. phil kessel is 29 years old. kelly rippa, comedian and sting is celebrating his 65th birthday. if it's your birthday happy

began saturday a half game behind. 3-3 game in the 8th and royals allowed one run to score and two more the indians win it 6- 3. so the indians move ahead of the sox in the hunt for home field by half a game. meanwhile the jays win and orioles lose that has them tied in the wild card race with one game to go. all right to football not surprisingly the pats have not announced who will start at but it will be jimmy garoppolo if he's physically able but whether or not it's him or brissett the pats know it's about more than just who is at quarterback. >> both of them have gotten wins so it's great and all but this is a new team and a new goal and it depends on everyone doing their own job not just the quarterbacks. >> elsewhere the pats adding

threatening. just a lot of clouds. let's get to the tropics the latest location as of 5:00 a.m. the national hurricane center updates every three hours. satellites and radar are constantly updated but the official update comes every three hours and the big update at 5:11 so that's how those updates work. right now it's a category four and matthew will move just probably in between and if there's a best case scenario for where this could go it woul and jamaica to keep the eye out over water and the storm from weakening but it's forecast to go just about in between all of the islands which as i said would be good. and then it slams the bahamas and far enough away from florida outer rain bands and perhaps wind but no real damage here. then the question becomes where does matthew go late this week and next weekend. some models bring it right up
5:49 am
new england. other models move it out to sea. the players in the atmosphere we don't know how they are going to interact yet to see where this will be steered so it depends on a high to the north, a trough to the west and how those all come together ultimately will determine. it's a seven day forecast so no way we are going to be able to tell you exactly what happens. just listen to forecasts and see how things go. if you are watching the past half hour i updated the map. we've got more rainfall amounts weather service. .86 at logan airport, 2.46 at the cape. 1.09 in providence. .41 for worcester. so generally we had pretty good rainfall. not going to alleviate the drought but it certainly is helpful in the areas that just have not seen that kind of rain since last spring. so 54 degrees in boston, 49 in worcester, 50 in portland and we have mostly cloudy skies
5:50 am
ready for monday prep later on this evening. 56 degrees. now if you are headed to fenway just clouds. now could there be a spot of drizzle sure but generally it's a mostly cloudy day. 59 degrees for game time. as i said they want you in your seats at 3: 00 for the celebration for the big guy and 1 1:00 p.m. this afternoon if you are going to the patriots game 63 degrees. if you are tailgating early it will be abou s difference. and here's the good news winds negligible so we are not going to have to contend with the raw wind off the water. a drizzle for the first part of the morning and temperatures 66 degrees. the seven day forecast and the trivia answer has to do with hurricane season and you can see the seven day forecast nicer weather coming up towards the end of the week temperatures in the 60s. matthew could impact that saturday or sunday forecast. i didn't bother putting it in
