devastating. it's heading north with the east coast in its sights. this storm could be catastrophic for the already struggling island nation. >> hurricane matthew is blamed for nine deaths through there are reports in haiti that dozens have been killed and millions are in the path. let's head to eric fisher. >> if you look back at the big hurricanes from the if you look at the death toll in haiti compared to other storms. a lot of mud slides and a lot of heavy rain. the storm looks quite impressive with a circulation that's going to cross the far eastern tip of cuba and head to the bahamas for the next couple of days. hurricane warnings -- heads

the eastern coast. this will take a sharp left turn. here's the big question mark. there's great model agreement about what happens across the bahamas and the southeast coast. this will move from florida through savannah and charleston and up through north carolina. where things get more uncertain is what happens around north carolina as we move to the weekend. we start to squeak out i don't think we'll be looking at any direct hit. or will it stay stalled out across the southeast coast. certainly, the highest risk is here. and i think we'll miss any direct hit. we'll be monitoring throughout the course of the week. stay on top of the storm's track by downloading the weather app and look for

we want to take you back to the breaking news from roslindale. there's a manhunt and a huge police presence after shots were fired earlier today during an operation involving massachusetts state police. >> this is in the newburg street area. one person is in custody and they are searching for the other suspect. and as you can see, there are numerous units that have reported to the scene. we have crews gathering information on the ground. but the other part of this of note as we are -- the needham commuter trail line is stopped right now because of all of the police activity. and we'll continue to follow

close brush with florida. at the very least, it's expected to move right up the coast from just north of miami, along the florida coastline, along the georgia coastline, passing savannah and hilton head. and then heading to north carolina. the big question is what happens after that. >> model guidance -- the track takes it close to us. i do right now. i'm thinking it stays off to our south. and we'll have to evaluate it as we get closer. the time frame to watch is late saturday to sunday. i think we'll have much more clarity on this as we head into tomorrow and certainly by thursday morning. in the meantime, great weather.

roslindale. they've shut down belgrade a block before newburg. and i'm seeing all kinds of law enforcement. plenty of boston police. plenty of emts. they are actually wearing bulletproof vests. i can see up paid of me some plainclothes detectives. and there seems to be caution twisting around the corner onto newburg. and definitely a very active scene at this point. people are peering around the corners, trying to figure out what exactly is going on here. as you said, what we do know at this point that police say shots for fired during a
