thought about anything past yesterday's game and added that the team has made a lot of progress. . checking in the national leaguing this morning extra innings for the giants. walk off double giants win 6 to 5 and avoid the sweep. chicago still wins the series tonight. this morning 2 home invasion suspects are on the run, a third suspect is in custody and headed to court. >> reporter: this all happened in the early morning hours monday around 1:30. police say 3 men tried to force their way inside a home in lowell and according to police these men were relentless even as the residents inside the home were holding the door shut.

door still trying to get in. when they heard police responding to the area we're told they all ran off but a k-9 was able to catch up with one man hiding in the woods and found this loaded gun along with a crowbar and sweat shirt and other items they believe the suspects left behind. they were able to arrest one man, a 21-year old who is expected to be arraigned here in lowell district court today. . a man charged with assaulting students with special needs is due in court today, scott is accused of hitting and shoving 3 young men while helping them get ready at their home. scott is an employee at the judge rotenberg center was fired after the incident. he failed to show up on friday and was arrested in rhode island on saturday. . boston police arrest a man

airport and assaulting a police officer. they also say he's responsible for causing several scares across boston yesterday including leaving a suspicious device outside a building near the state house. it turns out though that was just a copy of the kurran. police say the 22-year old also caused a disturbance at a jewelry store and local shelter. he will be arraigned before returning to washington d.c. a man who drove the way on the mass pike for miles could face charges. police say he drove about 3 miles heading west in the eastbound lanes yesterday afternoon. 3 drivers crashed as they swerved to avoid him. he eventually crashed into a barrier. state police are still investigating. a man and woman accused in a deadly home invasion will not face extradition to massachusetts until tomorrow. 27-year old smith and her

charged with murder and attempted murder. they were caught in a parking lot of a virginia wal-mart over the weekend. police say they are the home invaders who stabbed 95-year old tom hardy to death in his home and critically wounded his 77-year old wife. his family is hoping for swift justice. >> i hope they don't string it along. i think they should -- if they're guilty they should be punished right away. >> the motive is still unclear but family this might not have been a random crime. we may have to wait until the suspects are back in massachusetts though to learn more. now, to campaign 2016 hillary clinton and donald trump fighting for voters in florida to. it comes as as a new poll shows clinton leading trump by 11 points. hena daniels has the latest. >> donald trump spent the day in the crucial state of pennsylvania warning supporters of a potentially rigged

there will be areas of clouds and then peaks of sunshine come out during the afternoon. 5 p.m. scattered showers from western new hampshire and the greatest risk of a few of the showers will be north and west of boston. not a big deal massing maybe a passing shower or 2. 64 in bedford, not nearly as cold tonight. a few passing clouds, we'll dip into coolest suburbs, highs tomorrow low 60s at the coast are coast mid to upper 60s, don't think we'll get to 70, come close though. bermuda is now in a hurricane watch because this storm is going to come very close. the track takes it just west of bermuda and sails out to sea. we don't have to worry about nicole but bermuda

the week looks great so does the weekend. a little warm up. keeping our eye on the expressway this morning traffic is still tame. this a live look at the northbound lanes by columbia road. further south you'll see no issues getting to 128, the split is still moving right along. enjoy that while you can. probably won't last. if you take the bus to work or school you no he that getting particular but in one boston neighborhood there is close to 100 people waiting at one stop. this is the stop at broadway in south boston and everyone is waiting for the number 7 bus. we went to the stop ourselves and counted more than 50 people waiting for the bus at 8:30 in the morning. the number 7 that arrived was already pretty

didn't get on. state rep collins says they want the city to create a new depot. >> people can come and get on the bus and look at a shuttle service so you get more trips. >> the mbta has apparently been studying this problem for the past year. collins tells us they would hold public hearings later this month. . seat belt usage is at but 1 in 5 drivers still is not buckling up. a study found about 7% of drivers and front seat passengers were properly wearing their seat belt. that's up from 74% a year ago. the national average is 88 and a half % last year we ranked 48th in the country though for seat belt use. and today the public will get to weigh in on the goose poop problem in boston.

indians by a score of 4-3 last night and david ortiz's career has come to an end all at once. sox never led last night. they got within a run. big papi, well he's fired up, he was taken out for a pinch runner to a huge ovation but that was how the game ended 4-3 final the sox are remarkable careers is over. even as the indians celebrated on the field the chance were chaptering big papi and when the indians had left the field david ortiz returned for one final curtain call. he said it finally hit him that this was it, and he couldn't contain his emotions any more. after his final good-bye he said he wished

taking another look at the big picture here though we still don't have any slow-downs getting into the city. we'll let you know when that changes. >> all right thank you. checking our top stories. after an armed home invasion in lowell police say they recovered a handgun and crowbar when they responded to the scene. they say 3 men tried to break into a folks inside. a k-9 helped police track down one suspect. he'll be arraigned this morning. and a man charged with assaulting students with special needs is due in court today. scott is accused of hitting and shoving three young men while helping them get ready in their home. scott was an employees at the judge rotenberg center was fired after the incident in august. he failed to show up in court on friday and was arrested

one man can thank a blood hound helping find him after he got lost in the winds. a woman called police to say here 23-year old son was lost. after going to a party he left her a voicemail saying his phone was dying. crews finally found him around noontime 3 miles in the woods. he was taken to the hospital and treated. a mother and daughter reunited after the 7-year odd got lost while hiking. officials say the mother, her daughter and 2 f hiking gap mountain on saturday when the child ran ahead. they ended up not being able to find her. once they reached the summit they called for help. she was found several hundred yards off the trial. police are asking for help this morning as they investigate a string of car fires. a home and 10 vehicles were damaged in a fire saturday morning. this is video of one of the fires. no word yet on the cause. anyone with information however, is asked to call police.

. hundreds gathered to remember 5 teen-agers killed in a weekend crash in vermont. a candle light vigil was held last night at the high school are where 4 of them were students and students are returning to class for the first time since that accident. police say a driver going the wrong way on i-89 hit their car and it burst into flames that driver is in the hospital and expected to be charged later on this week. $120li funding could be heading to haiti after being hit hard by hurricane matthew. the united nation has made an appeal for funding. that storm killed more than 500 people in haiti. here in the united states 26 deaths have been blamed on hurricane matthew. 12 of them in north carolina. a mandatory evacuation was ordered along the
