old kirk figueroa's. we've learned months ago he was sworn in as the constable for the city of boston. we have a team of reporters covering the story. let's begin live at the scene in east boston. . >> reporter: we just confirmed with a source that the shooting happened in the basement and at this hour police are waiting for a search warrant. evidence markers surround this gladstone street home thursday where 2 boston police officers were shot and critically injured. >> shots fired officer down. >> reporter: the suspect was identified as 33-year old kirk figueroa. he was killed. >> all the officers exhibited extreme courage and bravery in a situation that we all too often never know what to expect, and that's a domestic call here.

night of a dispute between 2 male roommates police were told one of them had a gun. >> they were able to neutrallize the suspect. >> reporter: the neighborhood could hear the gunfire. the police ordered them to shelter in place. >> i was in fear of my life and i don't ever want to experience that again. >> we just saw all the police. i did seem . >> reporter: hours later police choose police -- according to his website he served in the u.s. military in the army reserve for # years. resident john hall came over after he heard about the shooting. >> this neighborhood i grew up here all my life, and it's one of the best places around, you know.

responding to a domestic dispute in east boston. evans says they received multiple blood transfusions and underwent surgery early this morning. evans also commended the officers who rushed into a very dangerous situation to save the wounded officers. he says they dragged the injured men out of the line of fire. he says one tried to stop the bleeding with a tourniquet.an hands on the officerer's wounds. . >> this job is a tough job and oftentimes people adopt look at the other side of what happens with police officers, and you know, we're hoping that they make a full recovery, as we know now critical condition in the hospital here, and the other officers that were -- are also being treated who were at the scene we had a chance to go and meet and talk to all the officers, most of the officers that were involved tonight.

sure that they were able to do what they had to do as police officers in the city of boston. >> reporter: evans says a group of about 50 gathered here early this morning to pray for the officers. boston police tweeted they are grateful for the public's certain and support during this difficult time. all 9 officers have been treated and released. . >> and boston's city clerk's office confirms the shooting suspect kirk figueroa was a constable for the city. >> we have more on his role working with the city. >> figueroa hasn't been a constable very long. yesterday marked 3 months exactly he was sworn in on july 12th of this year. if you're not entirely familiar with what constables do they're peace officers with limited policing authority. they handle conviction notices suspects and serve papers for civil lawsuits.

this morning. they are now in critical condition. the suspect was shot and killed by police, and we've learned his name is kirk figueroa. he is 33 years old and just 3 months ago he was sworn in as a constable for the city of boston. according to his website he served in the u.s. military in the army reserve for 8 years. figueroa's car has been toed away from that east boston scene as part of the investigation. >> police are expected to give an update on the shooting news conference as soon as it happens live on air and online at wbz.com. the local deputy hailed a her low for stopping the taunton mall stabbing rampage now sharing his story for the first time only with wbz. deputy james creed was off duty and having dinner at the silver city galleria last may when 28-year old derosa we haven't on a killing spree.

earlier today is just fascinating to us. so hopefully improving conditions as we get into the later part of today for our trends there in bermuda. hurricane nicole still a category 3, max winds 120-mile per hour moving northeast. around 11:27 this morning the eye centered right over the island where we saw a report of about a 13-mile per hour wind gust and it was calm. saw some reports on twitter with about that. now, things will continue center of the eye. you have the one area of the wall and then the other area. so that secondary wall your honoring through. the forward speed will increase just a bit later today. it moves off the island the effects still all the way through friday morning though there as the wind and the waves will be quite high friday, saturday and this becomes an extra tropical low and will move out to sea. for us we're experiencing drought conditions

extreme drought conditions have just decreased ever so slightly. we've taken out southeastern massachusetts well at least the u.s. drought monitor did and that was because of all the rain we did get. but boston still under extreme drought conditions and extreme drought conditions expand farther to the north along the coast there in new hampshire and maine. satellite and radar shows some rain moving our way. we have a burst of sun here and there but the clouds continuing to increase ahead of of cold front bringing us showers. now, we don't expect a wash-out or anything this evening but we'll take what we can get. this afternoon as we pass the lunch hour here notice the evening commute some spot showers here and there. maybe a heavy downpour briefly in an isolate spot that's about it. the cold front moves through then the wind direction changes and drier conditions will expand upon us as we wrap up the work week. temperatures in the 60s, very warm afternoon pleasant
