live from the channel 4 studios in boston this is wbz news at noon. >> police just entered the apartment of the man who shot two officers in east boston. they're going through evidence right now. this as we learn both of those additional surgery. we have team coverage of this breaking news this nu noontime. and we start live at mass general. what's the latest on the officer's conditions. >> reporter: they're still in critical but stable condition. but one is awaiting surgery. the other is currently in surgery. based on the information we've been given so far this would be

officers. officer richard cintolo is a 27-year veteran of the force and matthew boris is a 12-year veteran of the force. they were met with gunfire after responding to a domestic dispute in east boston. commissioner evans has spoken candidly about fellow officers efforts to save he specifically named another officer crediting him with saving his life. i want to get to a statement from commissioner evans released a short time ago. he wanted to thank all of the hospital staff who have helped so much in saving these officers lives. he says i want to thank everyone to their continued prayers. i hope st. michael continues to

we're learning this noon is one officer is currently in surgery. the other officer is awaiting surgery this after that deadly shootout a couple of nights ago in east boston. but we're told both officers are in critical but stable condition. that's the very latest here in boston. >> and investigators are inside that east boston apartment right now where that shooting took place looking into the suspect's past. >> reporter: and chris there is a very active investigation underway here on gladstone street. there is a crime response vehicle. and police officers are searching this house hoping to learn more about the man who shot two officers with an unlicensed assault rifle. investigators put on booties and gloves before continuing their search of kirk figueroa's home friday morning.

33-year-old shot two officers responding to a domestic dispute on wednesday. >> i don't know what was going through his mind. all i can tell you is he was a dangerous individual. and our officers went in there unsuspecting of what took place. >> his facebook page includes videos about police shootings and other incidents involving african american suspects. but they don't believe he was planning an ambush on officers. >> i don't think it was clearly a disturbance. his roommate met the officers out and clearly said that he was being attacked. >> on the website for a security company he founded he called himself a bountyy hunter and claims he served eight years as an army police soldier. he did enlist in the u.s. army reserve in 2003 but he never attended basic training.

own car on fire to collect insurance money. last year his ex-wife asked for a restraining order writing he gave me black eyes, choked me, pulled out my hair, verbally humiliated me and abused me on several different occasions. he was sworn in as a constable for the city of boston in july. >> i know locally he had no criminal record. i think there were several felonies not in this impersonating a police officer. there was also one charge for arson. but nothing here. nothing that would prohibit us from issuing him a constable license here. >> police sources tell us one theory they're looking into is whether these roommates were fighting over the thermostat. reporting live from east boston, wbz news. >> police commissioner william evans says the quick thinking by

right now. they're facing murder charges among others. they were captured saturday at a walmart in virginia. they broke into the orange home last week, killed a 95-year-old and injured his wife. the driver accused of killing five teenagers in a wrong way crash in vermont will be arraigned from his hospital bed today. he's facing five counts of second-degree murder. he drove wrong way on interstate 89 hitting car then stole a police cruiser before crashing into several other vehicles. the man has been captured wanted for a sexual assault in roxbury. they released pictures and video of that suspect. he's accused of push ago woman to the ground and trying to sexually assault her before taking off in mission hill. and vice presidential candidate mike pence says donald

gun violence. her stop in boston is part of a 14 state tour to support her gun violence prevention. the sun is out and we're shaping up for a pretty nice weekend. pretty typical for fall. here's a first look at our accu weather forecast. >> good afternoon everybody. it feels like fall today for sure. unlike yesterday when it was up around 72. we're going up a little higher as the afternoon progresses. but not the skies essentially clear here. the highs should be around 58 this afternoon, maybe 59 in a couple of spots. the only place there's some clouds is the wind coming out of the north producing some banks of low clouds down over parts of the capes. but the big story will be the blast of cold tonight. the wind will become calm, and frost advisory is up by the national weather service. a freeze warning going on.

this morning bringing down some of those pine needles. that's for sure. they were all over the roads when i came to work. these were the forecasted highs for the afternoon, 58, 59. this is across the middle part of the nation. we could this as soon as sunday. 61 or 62. and wait until you see the forecast. not until later in the weekend, it will be chilly tonight this high comes r racing away. this comes right on top of us. perfect conditions for cooling. tonight is the last sunset at 6:03. the last weekend we'll have sunsets after 6:00. on monday is our first sunset before 6:00. just hate to see this but november 6th not too far away from that when we go back to standard time and turn the clocks back an hour.

25 to 30 in the usual cold spots in the valley. about 31 logan airport. there won't be a frost but just inland from the coast a bit there will be frost and freezing conditions. going to be killing a lot of these plants if you don't protect them tonight for sure. lower 60s tomorrow. upper 50s at the coast. a little bit of a sea breeze keeping it cooler. but very cold to start off. on sunday in the upper 60s to lower on the south coast it's mostly lower to a p few middle 60s down there. but the wind gets gusty in the afternoon. so during the game it'll be around 72 degrees, a gusty breeze is going to be just very nice indeed as we look to the weekend and that high moves off to the east. this front approaches and may give us a couple of showers late sunday but not until we get into darkness of sunday night. maybe a brief shower monday morning. then i think we have a shot at
