sneakers and hats strewn about tell the story of the tragedy here. >> we located one on the ground at the scene who was pronounced deceased. the other had minor injuries. he was transported to an area hospital. >> a 65-year-old man from watertown, one we're told worked in the park management for the past three decades. james knew both men and knows the area well. >> i try crossing every day when i go home. i take the about us. every afternoon, trying to cross the street in the afternoon, it's a mess. >> reporter: it clings to a bus top. police so far had determined both men had just gotten off the bus when this 65-year-old driver hit them. >> we definitely know they were this the crosswalk. we have to do an investigation to determine the lighting. >> reporter: alcohol is not said to be a factor, but all others remain under investigation as the tragedy

police say the woman eventually came out and did have a handgun. we'll continue to monitor this story and bring you updates as soon as we get them. as for a developing story, police are searching for the person who stole a car with a baby inside. officials tell us the woman parked her car at a roxbury gas station and went in to pay for the gas. she left her 9-month-old in the car. the car was recovered about a block away, and the baby was not hurt. police want to you surveillance pictures. this could be key in finding a man who shot a 2-year-old in roxbury. the man was riding a scooter bike near winslow street. investigators say he was aiming for the little girl's father. the father is a known gang member who is not cooperating with police, something mayor walsh says needs to change. >> at some point, fear is always a factor, i guess, in worrying about retribution. in this case, it is his daughter. he needs to try to be -- not try, be more cooperative with

us. >> the bullet went through the toddler's hand and leg. she is now recovering. a long time new hampshire teacher is retiring amid allegations that he sent nude pictures of himself to a student. robert wylie was an english and fill lossty teacher in marry ma'am high school. police say he sent nude pictures and videos of himself to a female student and requested pictures and video from her. her parents then discovered the over the columbus day weekend and reported that there had been inappropriate e-mailing going on. >> reporter: wylie is facing charges of sending pornographic images to a child. he is due in court in december. campaign 2016, new fallout from the donald trump tapes. nbc's billy bush has been fired for his role in the conversation as trump's wife melania calls out bush for

few. the ceiling at this bertucci's restaurant comes crashing down on people inside. firefighters say a heavy 12 foot decorative section fell on two men and a server at the vaunt in nashua -- restaurant in nashua and all three were taken to the hospital with injuries aboutp accusations of being overzealous in a response to a 911 call. they raided a home people who live at 22 francis street showed us the damage inside of the home. they say police left holes in the doors, broke windows and tore through the ceiling. it all started when residents say a neighbor made a bogus 911 call. they feel they were targeted because they are muslim. >> there are shots being fired in my building at 22 francis ave. i still have a kid in there.

>> police say it is a rooming house and they used special operations forces because people inside did not come out. demanding safer streets for cyclists, hundreds came out at a rally in cambridge last night. in the past four months, two cyclists have been hit and killed. more enforcement of existing laws are coming. new this morning, michael bloom is bloomberg is making a gift to the museum of science. he took classes there as a child and now he is giving $p 50 million to the museum. it is the largest donation ever. the proposed expansion of boston children's hospital is getting a big boost. governor charlie baker tells "the globe" he supports the $1 billion project. critics said the expansion would spike health care costs.

early this morning. now where is the warm air? we've been stuck, 50s and 60s for most of us right now. 72 and just shy of 80 in hartford, connecticut. 76 in springfield. so it's coming. making slow northward progress here. it's going to take most of the day today and many of us will fall show of what we were originally thinking in terms of 80s. there were plenty map. much cooler air across the northern plains and back across the northwest now. we'll get into the cooler air especially for the upcoming weekend. once that wind shifts around, you burn it off and the sun comes out. we push 70-plus this afternoon.

warm front lifts north. there is a cold front coming through. tomorrow it will be a warm one with clearing and less humid air coming in late in the day. once that front comes through, dew points jump into the 60s. thursday morning, scattered showers arrive la on thursday. it looks like friday he gets moisture. the area of low pressure could become to the owe over the next several days. we may get tropical moisture that passes to our east on friday.
