the woods and into an ambulance early this morning. she was taken to the hospital and is said to be in good health. police and k-9 units spent hours searching the woods near her home. >> it was a good outcome for us. we had a lot of help from surrounding agencies as well as the k-9 unit who ultimately was responsible for finding her. we're very very appreciative. . >> she hasn't been seen since earlyne police are still investigating how she ended up in the woods. there will be extra patrols at schools in lawrence today. a 13-year old raped and kidnaped . >> reporter: lawrence police moved in quickly arresting a man they say kidnaped and raped a child. a neighbor took this photo. >> when i found out what it was i was horrified.

concerned for her safety didn't want to be identified. >> i didn't hear anything. >> reporter: shortly after 7 thursday morning students were walk to south lawrence east middle school. police say a man grabbed a girl from behind and forced her into an apartment. he sexually assaulted her for more than 2 hours. he threatened her not to tell anyone. when released she went to school called her mom who called police. the 13-year odd did not know the man. please to arrest a 21-year old. >> very courage -- in coming forward. >> reporter: he wore an ankle monitoring bracelet. police say he was not a sex offender. they would not say what charge he already faces but the mayor questions if he should have been allowed to live near a school. >> if you look at the circumstances around it it's not

boston police donating blood in honor of 2 wounded officers, nearly 300 police officers showed up for that blood drive for the red cross yesterday. it was a show of support for officers cintolo and morris who were shot while responding to a domestic violence call last

court action is still a possibility. massachusetts laid the groundwork for testing self driving cars. the governor issued that order yesterday. it creates a 9 member group that would recommend possible laws. they'll consult with experts on driving technology and help companies get approval to test their vehicles. the mayor also signed and order to help develop guidelines. the fight over charter schools in getting expensive on both sides. groups have raised more than $20 million for television ads and other campaigning while the main group opposing the measure has raised more than 12 million. most of that money has come from teachers unions. while much of the money has come from a new york based group called families for excellent schools. well, a word to the wise if you're thinking about taking a sick day. >> how far some bosses will go
