police and k-9 units spent hours searching the home -- searching the woods near her home. >> it was a good outcome for us. we had a lot of help from surrounding agencies as well as the k-9 unit who ultimately was responsible for finding her. we're very very appreciative. . >> she hadn't been seen since early wednesday morning. police are still investigating how s there will be extra patrols around schools in lawrence today following a terrifying attack. >> a 13-year old girl kidnaped and raped on her way to school. and her alleged attacker was wearing a gps monitoring ankle bracelet at the time. >> reporter: very disturbing details with this case. i can tell you that young victim was walking here in this area when she allegedly was kidnaped and taken up to a second floor

she was able to give them very detailed information and that they say is what led them so quickly to the suspect. along the streets of lawrence a that you mat dick and violent occurrence here. >> when i found out what it was i was horrified. >> a young girl just 13 years old walking to school was attacked and grabbed from behind. >> the victim reports having been forcibly dragged from the apartment. >> inside the unthinkable, police say she was raped and sexually assaulted for more than 2 hours. . >> this is unbelievable. it's just -- it's just deemployerable that someone could do that, you know, especially to a child. >> he eventually released her with the threat of not telling police. the young girl called her mother who then called authorities. >> the amount of detail that was provided by this 13 years old

in this investigation. >> it led police to a 21-year old, a neighbor took this photo of his arrest. he was wearing an ankle bracelet for a pretrial probation case but police say he was not a sex offender. >> if you look at the circumstances around it it's not random. >> authorities believe there is no longer a threat to this community and they'll see to it that those here feel safe. he is expected to be arraigned in court today. i can tell you in the will be extra patrols in this area. and they will also have a police presence at many of the schools all in an effort to make parents and students feel safe. . concerns over sexual misconduct now surfacing at another boarding school. lawrence academy is now asking students to come forward and report any cases of current or past abuse. the school won't say what prompted that

. trump's campaign may be impacting local races as well. the latest poll from new hampshire shows democrat hassan pulling away from ayotte in the race for u.s. senate. that poll hassan has with 48% of the vote compared to 39% for ayotte. it's the first time this year either candidate has shown a significant lead. the globe reports more are heading to the polls this election than in more city residents are registered to vote. welcoming up learning a new trick. >> the local dog learning sign language in hopes of finding a new home. >> and the first for a fall classic. >> and a foggy drizzle start to the day. you'll want the rain gear as you head to the bus stop. we have more rain on the way during recess and even after school. at least it will be a warm day.

and we're tracking big changes are for the weekend. heavy rain, potential for a thunder storm as a cold front moves into new england. weekend winds equals major leaf drop. as we take a look at radar this morning we have a couple of isolated showers with steadier rain maybe to the north of lowell. this all pushing to the north a front. mostly dealing with the fog and drizzle as you head out the door but a cold front is sitting to our west. this is going to push in as we get into tonight and early saturday making the weekend especially the start to it soggy. hour by hour as we start saturday morning 6 a.m. you see we're cloudy to start the day. most of the heavy rain has pushed through. this evening after 5 p.m. we'll keep the showers around. 8 a.m. saturday waking

child's illness. they say the expansion will include a new green space. >> it is a loss to all of us but the needs of the children, needs of the families, needs of the staff is first and foremost. >> my brother's ashes were scattered in that garden when he died at the age of 12, and essentially this decision in regard to the garden where they're going to essentially destroy the garden his remains are going to be desecrated. >> garden supporters rallied at the state house yesterday. an attorney says the health board's ruling will be appealed and court action is still a possibility. well, fight over charter schools is getting expensive on both sides. already groups in favor of additional charter schools in massachusetts have raised more than 20 million i don't know dollars for tv had and other campaigning. the main group opposing the measure has raised more than 12 million.

the money in support of charter schools has come from a new york based group called families for excellent schools. massachusetts laying the groundwork for self driving cars. it creates a 9 member group that will recommend possible laws. they'll consult on automated driving technology and help companies get approval to test their vehicles. the mayor to develop guidelines for testing vehicles. well prove you can teach any dog new tricks, a 2-year odd mix rescued last summer, she's also deaf but very determined. she is learning sign language. >> she's deaf and so a lot of people just aren't sure how to deal with a deaf dog but we've been teaching her hand signals, and things that you would use

big changes on the way, much cooler for both saturday and sunday. we're tracking rain and on top of it some intense wind speeds as well especially for the second half of the weekend. this morning as you head out it's warm and soupy. visibility very low reduced to a quarter mile or less from boston to worcester. and the visibility is going to be reduced for quite some time at least until we with get to the later part of the morning. warm front continues to showers being triggered that the time. the main event still to our west and tonight the rain does pick up in intensity and coverage very heavy showers expected overnight tonight from time to time. temperatures right now in the 50s and 60s. we've warmed to 61 in boston in the last hour and going to continue the warming trend through the lunch hour, 67 degrees drive home 72 with more heavy rain on the way. this weekend we'll go through the cooler temperatures and how

into an ambulance earlier this morning. she was taken to the hospital and is said to be in good health. police are still investigating how she ended up in the woods. boston police donating blood in honor of 2 wounded officers. nearly 300 police officers showed up for the blood drive for the red cross in dorchester yesterday. this was to show support for officers cintolo and morris who were shot while responding to a domestic violence call last week. officer cintolo is out of the intensive care. both officers had had multiple surgeries and needed lot of blood. boston police say they hope to organize another blood drive next month. federal investigators are now looking into the case of police chief campanello accused of inappropriate conduct with 2 women and destroying evidence on his cell phone. the district attorney has turned over its investigation to the u.s. attorney 's office and state attorney general.

january. well, sky eye over a strange sight in boston. dozens of military artillery lined up on the dock to be shipped out. we're told they're self propelled and high tech and have better shooting capability. we don't know where it's going or who it's for. we reached out to the army and they say they're not involved in the shipment. outrage continues to grow after donald trump implied he might not concede if hillary clinton on election day. this morning our jon keller takes a closer look why this may be a business move not a political one. >> good morning. donald trump says he won't promise to accept the outcome of the election until he's sure there wasn't any widespread vote fraud and from the reactions across the political spectrum you'd think the guy was threatening to confiscate all supplies of beer and milk nationwide. hillary

evening commute. could be pretty slow going as you're heading home. more heavy rain will continue to progress from south to north through 11 p.m. tonight especially right over boston and right along the coastline. that's where i think we could see our heaviest access of some rain potential. 7 a.m. saturday a brief break but again a soggy start with warm temperatures high humidity and patchy fog with additional showers. they're scattered from time to time saay can't believe it but it's that time. colder air funnels in behind this cold front higher elevations could see measurable snow fall saturday and early sunday and a few flurries potentially. for us it's the rain we're dealing with thank goodness, 1 to 3 inches potential here right along where we could see the heaviest showers. a rumble of thunder

temperatures right now 50s, 61 degrees to start off in boston though on our way to a high of 72, scattered rain will continue to increase in intensity and coverage and we stay humid. you'll wanted the rain gear today and tonight 65 with more scattered showers and then the wind really kicks in saturday afternoon. behind that cold front that wind could gust between 45 up to 50 miles per hour especially farther to the south. here in boston 30 to 40 miles per hour wind gusts from the west north to help to funnel in cooler temperatures too feeling more like the season. we had summer like temperatures the last several days, well, the changes are here once we get into saturday. falling temperatures throughout the day into the 50s later saturday evening, 43 sunday morning, sunday's high 54, windy, chilly and continue to see falling temperatures to the 40s for highs tuesday and next wednesday. live look right now at route
