boston police commissioner william evans confirms a mission was a recovery effort to locate two bodies in the trench. >> it's quite a while because they have to firm up the whole before the firefighters and rescue go down and two bodies. >> a tough week here in boston. two police officers were shot last week. a two year old girl was shot. we have some workers here today. just shows you life crushes. . >> reporter: according to boston fire, the whole was about 12 feet deep they believe. we're told by police there were a few construction members that made it out.

investigation continues as well. we're live, wbz news. >> people were shocked to see that water filling the street and they were horrified to learn about two workers trapped. bill shields continues our team coverage tonight. >> that's a good word to use. it was a horrifying scene down in the south. two guys were stuck down in the trench. water coming out and their coworkers frantic on the servic something to do. all the while people are walking by and watching the whole scene unfold. >> i just heard screaming and loud yells from the men working in the construction site. >> grechen was walking by when it happened. >> i walked out to the hole in the ground and the water was dwushing and they were screaming that someone was down there. there was no emergency crew on site yet.

by a virtual waterfall when a high pressure water main erupted. >> that's when i realized there was trapped in there. >> the water filled the hole. >> there was so much water, in two minutes the whole street was covered in water. >> nearby business owners looked over to see the intersection flooding and workers on the street frantic for help. >> they come running around like. >> it was a horrific scene played out in midday in one of the busiest neighborhoods in the city. >> people were running around. i think they knew how many people were down there. >> one man we talked to today said when it happened one of the coworkers on the street

accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a classmate, a 13-year old girl who says she was dragged into a second floor apartment while walking to school and held for a terrifying two hours before being released. >> there's no continuing threat or concern to the community. >> she took her mother by the apartment with the distinctive red curtain and police made an arrest . >> the victim although dealing with a dramatic experience was crucial in detail and location of the incident that led to the speedy arrest of this dangerous person. >> this case prompted another woman to come forward last night pointing to mateo as the man who attempted to assault her in the neighborhood. >> she made a report but police

likely swinging through connecticut and massachusetts and into new hampshire. we could see some locally heavy rain with showers and we're drying out tomorrow evening. at the same time, snow around there getting into the green mountains so the colder air is moving in. as we time out the temperatures in the 60s tonight and 60s tomorrow morning as well. then as we head into the afternoon, those 50s will move west to east and by the evening falling back into the 40s so when you feel the chill in the air. same with dew points, muggy in the 60s. the dew points falling back and into the 30s and 40s and will get rid of the muggy feel. the story becomes the wind and its staying with us through sunday so gusts 30-50 miles per hour across the higher terrain and areas near the coast. 20-30 miles per hour elsewhere.
