>> there are more showers coming in today. we're starting this october 22nd morning pretty morning. low and middle 60s. not much wind yet but notice the difference in the air temperatures to the west. this air is coming our way. temperatures will be changing throughout the day. there is that ribbon of heavy rain that moved through central and eastern massachusetts. we don't have much rain now but there are mo it's going to be a very sharp disturbance lifting northeastward across the region today, we'll get heavier downpours once again, late this morning and the first part of the afternoon. but nothing like last evening. but more showers coming through. isolated thunderand brief downpours. it gets windier later this afternoon, 64 today. tomorrow looks like we'll start cloudy and then turn partly to mostly sunny. look at the wind, 25 to 50 miles per hour. high temperature 55. the rest of the forecast coming

clean-up is underway after heavy rain caused problems across the state last night. this was the scene in worcester. drivers stranded with water rising to the windows on some cars. the roads flooded out so quickly in worcester the city tweeted out a warning to stay inside. many people forced to just abandon their cars. we take closer look. >> water 3 feet deep for >> it was on my leg this high. >> as they left dinner on park avenue in worcester. >> they were mopping the floors and pushing the water outside. that's when everyone started to peek out the window and so we look out the window and the water is literally thigh high, wheels covered. door covered. no way to get in. we see the car wobbling. >> reporter: they took videos. firefighters even showed up to help them across the street. without a car davis and company called a friend for a ride who

>> all of a sudden i was up to my knees, thighs in water. his car is air tight and was literally almost floating. then the firemen said we'll take care of that. >> reporter: paul who lived in the area all his life admits friday's flash flooding was unique. >> i've never seen a flash flood quite like that. >> reporter: davis was ready to spend the night back at home. >> chaos, there was cars stuck in the road. people trying to walk around but they walk on the street because of the manholes. the fire department had just left and there were cars getting into accidents, looking like they were floating away. it was crazy. >> reporter: this is southbridge street in worcester. it's one of many major roadways here in the city that is simply impassable. as of friday night. also 290 eastbound and westbound also closed. in worcester, katie brace, wbz

torrential downpours flooding streets in cambridge as well turning roads into rushing waters. this video from lowell shows how fast the water was rushing down the road, even coming up from storm drains. this was the scene in boston. even drivers were warned to stay off the streets last night. as the heavy rain moved into the city. two construction workers killed in the south end after getting trapped in a flooded trench. a pipe burst yesterday sending water rushing into the dirt on their hands and knees to reach the victims. nick giovanni has the latest. >> reporter: the ominous hum of a vacuum echoed down dartmouth street well into friday evening in boston's south end. emergency crews spending hours removing dense piles of mud and gravel. that stood in the way of recovering the bodies of two construction workers. >> there were workers in this

>> reporter: boston fire, police and water and sewer commission raced to the scene just before 1:00 p.m. responding to reports of a watermain break. >> we had a trench collapse here. there's water in the trench. >> reporter: neighbors said the water rushing down dartmouth street toward tremont made the intersection look like a river. stuck under it, members of a private construction crew. >> it looks like somehow a pipe must have broke and they unfortunately were not able to get out >> reporter: the boston commissioner william evans estimated the hole was roughly 12 feet deep. the mission to find the workers quickly became a recovery effort. >> i think it's going to be a while because they have to firm up the hole before firefighters and rescue can go down and bring up the two bodies. >> reporter: seven hours later the recovery operation complete. >> a tough week in boston. two police officers were shot last week.

just shows you life is precious. >> reporter: that statement followed up with another written statement later in the evening. saying his thoughts and prayers are now with the victims' families. clean-up efforts and the investigation into what happened friday continues. reporting in the south end, nick giovanni, wbz this morning. federal workplace safety investigators will be on scene today to try to figure out what went wrong and how to prevent similar future. we learned the company involved, atlantic drain service company out of roslyndale has been cited for safety violations in the past four years. federal records show it was fined tens of thousands of dollars in 2012 for multiple violations including not having sufficient rescue teams in case of emergency. roads in the south end could be closed for days. streets impacted stretch from dartmouth to tremont and war

are many. warren. stay with wings on air and on- line. wbz. troubling new information about the man accused of shooting two boston police officers, our i-team obtained this application to become a constable. in it kirk figueroa writes -- my goal is to be active in community active policing. the application also asks if had ever been arrested. figueroa responded "not applicable." we learned he faced an arson charge and his ex-wife took out a restraining order against him. police killed figueroa after saying he killed two officers. they were responding to a domestic violence call, officers pantollo was released from the hospital wednesday.

company den dns is is headquartered in manchester, new hampshire. it links people to other sites. the hack disrupted their system for hours. fortunately the hack didn't target passwords. den dns says things have returned to normal and investigators are looking the hack. 2016 campaign -- donald trump says his closing arguments will be in a major speech in gettysburg, pennsylvania. he will outline his priorities during the first 100 days in office and again lay out the difference was hillary clinton. trump is trailing clinton nationally and in key battleground states with less than three weeks to go in the election. his runningmate on the campaign trail in new hampshire yesterday, mike pence made

worcester since september 6, 2008 when 4.79 inches fell. second wettest october day on record in the city of worcester. that is just amazing. you know what happened there. it caused a lot of flooding. a lot of really bad flooding. a lot of water receded but that was something else. not just worcester but other locations around worcester, in the county itself. the weekend will be remembered for the weekend. even though there isn't much wind now the winds will gust to 15 to 20 miles per hour late today. overnight tonight you hear it howling and the wind is going to be howling tomorrow. some wind damage likely, and some limbs down, maybe even some scattered trees down, scattered power outages with major leaf drop coming up. that is for sure. when will we have the strongest wind? there's not much wind now but the wind will start ramping up this afternoon. and overnight tonight and

less tomorrow afternoon. and less than that on monday but still pretty breezy on monday as well. so these are the current temperatures. they are in the 60s so we're still in the warm sector. sort of in no man's land here. not much going on, just a light northwest breeze, most of the rain has gone to the north. note how warm it is in the summit of mount washington but it's going to be snowing there at this time tomorrow morning as many of the higher peaks in the white mountains, maybe even in mountains to going to have snow from there. the cold air from the west and you see how much the temperatures fall. 40s, then 30s. when more -- one more disturbance to give us showers. the highs are happening now, the highs this morning, rights now. this afternoon going to be falling into the 50s and western sections falling into the 40s, as far east as parts

there's one more disturbance going to pin wheel through here. late this morning and first part of the afternoon a batch of showers come through. local downpours, won't last long but come down fast and furious with thunder and lightning. then other additional showers may pin wheel through here tonight. notice through the night it turns into blue. that means snow across the higher elevations of the green mountains extending to the berkshires and the white mountains. maybe some mountains, but a few inches in some of the higher peaks likely. sunday we start with clouds, a lot of clouds disappear. we have a lot of sunshine but we have a lot of wind all day tomorrow. the clouds continue with snow showers in the northern mountains. my 7-day forecast, looking at temperatures going up to about 58. that will be 58 this squash. 64 this morning. that is the bottom number. then tomorrow and monday mid- 50s. looks like most sunshine tomorrow will be in the

most of the clouds tomorrow in the morning, then sunnier as the day goes along. the rest of the accuweather forecast coming up. time now 5:32. checking our top stories -- clean-up is underway following serious flooding across the state. this was the scene in worcester last night where many drivers were left stranded forced to abandoned their cars. the city at one point tweeted out a warning urging people to stay inside. several roads were shut down. including parts of 290. two construction workers killed in the getting trapped in a flooded trench. a pipe burst yesterday sending water rushing into that trench. where the men were working. firefighters had to dig through the dirt on their hands and knees to reach that victim. both victims. it took them seven hours to recover the bodies. the victims haven't been identified. boston police, osha and suffolk county district attorney's office are all investigating. hackers hit a new hampshire

disruptions. den dns links people to many different sites. the hack yesterday morning overwhelmed their systems and disruptions lasted for hours. fortunately experts say the hack did not target passwords. a lawrence man already facing rape and kidnapping charges in an attack on a 13- year-old girl now facing new allegations. a woman came forward claiming he also sexually assaulted her. the suspect, 21-year-old an yesterday. he claims he met that 13-year- old through social media and thought she was 18. police say the second victim says mateo tried to rape her in the same neighborhood earlier this year. the man accused of firing a shot that hit a teen in his bedroom pleaded not guilty. christian garcia hid his face in court yesterday. the 13-year-old boy was shot on wednesday but returned to his home in chelsea thursday night.

his shoulder. no umass -- umass dartmouth police releasing new footage of a shooting on campus. they say the man in this surveillance picture somehow was involved in the incident last sunday. where shots were fired at the the cedardale dorm and later struck three cars. no one was hurt. police are asking anyone with information on the case to contact them. a bold bank robbery on camera and police say this is not the suspect's rs up. security cameras show this man walking up to a teller at the co-op bank flashing a gun and demanding money. you can see him grabbing a fistful of cash before taking off in a royal blue car. investigators believe the same man was involved in an armed robbery at wendy's in drakeut and walgreen's in lowell. if you recognize him call me thune police. new jersey governor chris christie responding to new

over across middlesex county and into essex county, southeastern new hampshire. ryan had 3.4 inches. erica 3.19. we have a mix of wbz whrf watchers and other sky warn spotters. 4.10 inches of rain is the most rain in one day 6, 2008 when 4.79 inches fell. the second wettest october day on record for worcester. so the emphasis now shifting from the rain to the wind. the wind gusts late this afternoon, especially tonight and much of tomorrow, 25 to 50 miles per hour. that is going to cause wind damage, trees may come down, certainly limbs down and twigs. showers of falling leaves and more acorns. they seem to be unending this year. they are all over the place.

possible. and the greatest wind is not happening this morning. we're sort of in a lull now. waiting for the front to go by. when the storm intensifies to the north of us late today and pressure gradient really tightens the wind is going to really pick up late this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow. then there will still be wind monday but not as much wind as we'll have late today through tomorrow. these are the current temperatures as we see, still in the 60s. so the weather front is basically across western new hampshire, down across portions maybe the connecticut river valley. we see 60s here going all the way south. so this is the warmest part of the day happening right now. do you know how muggy it was yesterday? it's still muggy now. the dew points will be dropping, humidity is not going to be as humid this afternoon but we have another batch of showers coming in. so look about 9:00, down to 61, upper 50s in metro west. then we watch this band of showers coming up. this is what we call a negatively tilted system so

lots of people take their four-legged friends to pumpkin patches but not every dog can strike that perfect pose. a california woman snapping pictures of a little dog running from pumpkin to pumpkin jumping on them and smiling for the camera. the dog cocoa puff is a mix of a dachshund and chihuahua. the owner says they take "cocoa puff" to the patch every year
