39 in manchester, skies mainly clear just a couple of clouds stretching through central new hampshire and back down to the sea coast and that's about it. we're in for plenty of sunshine today and a few building clouds at times. we'll drop a few more degrees between now and the next couple of hours. sunrise at 7:09. the wind today is going to gust occasionally between 20 and 35 miles per hour and high temperatures will only top out in the mid to upper 40 this is afternoon. for the ride home. sunset at 5:46 and temperature at 45 degrees. a construction has wrapped up inside the oneil tunnel. there's really nothing that's going to show you down. also no issues further back on 128 or route 3 getting up to the braintree split. our north roads are wide open, there's one

down there's road work on the ramp there. a tentative deal has been reached to answered 3-week strike at harvard. the university and its dining hall workers have reached a tentative agreement. they just did it after 1:00 this morning. dozens of students walked out of class marching support of the cafeteria workers. the employees were demanding better wages and no changes to their health care benefits. dining workers are expected to vote on the deal tomorrow and could be back to thursday. also breaking overnight a 16-year old on massachusetts most wanted list has been arrested on murder charges. smith was arrested just before midnight. he'll be arraigned this morning incomes to a july shooting death in fall river. and 4 people killed overseas at a popular theme park. officials say 2 men and 2 women were riding the ride when one of the victims was thrown from the raft.

police are working to figure out exactly what went wrong. 4 college friends killed in a fiery crash caused by a wrong-way driver. >> they were on their way back to school when they were hit. 2 of the victims were identified as 20-year old digs and fisher. . >> reporter: another victim in that car was also one of their cousins, friends and family members say all 4 well-known, well-liked and had bright futures ahead of them rodney fisher says his son was a good kid who loved life. >> he was a loveable kid, well liked by all the kids, you know. very popular. he was the best son. that i could ask for. >> reporter: he attended becker

sunday a 31-year old woman from fall river driving the wrong way on 495 smashed into the vehicle carrying him and 3 others. it burst into flames all 5 people involved in the crash died. digs says his son was a blessing. >> he made me happy. he was working to excel for himself. he was trying to be the best he could be and that's all i could ever ask. >> reporter: friends gathered at a vigil they were cousins who grew up on cape cod and the 4 young man was from new york. >> really good kids with bright futures. >> reporter: his father says people can help by saying a prayer and holding your own loved ones close. >> when you see your kid give them a hug and let them know that you love them because i hug my kid ever time i got a chance and told him i loved him all the time.

grief counselors at anna maria college today where 2 of the victims were students. the cause of the crash is still under investigation. our eye team took a closer look at what can be down to prevent wrong way crashes. 4 years ago officials recommending lowering wrong way and do not enter signs to make them easier to see at night. in rhode island a sensors on the roads immediately notifies police of any wrong way driver. massachusetts decided not to buy at that system because it was too expensive. . now, to a developing story where police are investigating a roll over crash that sent 3 people to the hospital. you can see the vehicle on its roof. state police say it looks like a 17-year old driver lost control on route 145 near hillside avenue last night. no word on whether any charges will be filed.

been filed in the deadly crash at sweet tomatoes restaurant. the case was brought by the husband of 57-year old meel yes. an out of control car slammed into the restaurant in march. the driver faces 2 counts of vehicular homicide. he has multiple sclerosis but prosecutors say that did not cause the crash. he insists his brake pedal was stuck. a sc there will be extra security at that school. we're live in fall river with the details. . >> reporter: that stepped it security will be a welcomed sight for those who were fearful yesterday. fortunately no one was hurt during this incident but no one appreciated the scare. it all started with this, a snapchat photo of a hand

high school captioned life at durfey. it september students to administrators and forced the school in lock down. a search for the student who might have posted the photo came up empty on campus. they believed he had gone home which is where fall river police found the 15 years old with a bb gun. >> our kids go to school for knowledge and education and scared to come to school. >> reporter: as staff and parents waited for answers concerns were mounting. >> they need to get more security guards here that know what tre >> reporter: that is expected to happen today, increased security of metal detectors, wands and a single entrance and exit. they released a statement reading in part as a school community we're so much better than the unsafe behavior demonstrated by some students we look forward to a safe routine for -- return to our re teen tomorrow.

yesterday. i'm still thinking about sand stuck in chris's nails. 43 in boston right now. 40 in lawrence, 49 in manchesten worcester and a bit of a breeze. the wind chill is 36 at the airport and only 29 at the worcester airport. keep in mind that's a thousand feet in elevation but nonetheless it is a chilly start. skies are mainly clear. we do have snow showers dottings england. more snow too coming across eastern canada. we don't have to worry about it today but there will be coatings as much as an inch or 2 in the high terrain. and high pressure nosing its way out of central canada will be in control of our weather the next couple of days providing us with that northwest wind and that cooler air coming out of the north and west. so highs today will only be in the upper 40 to say low 50s and at times 5 to 10 degrees cooler

in. clear and cold tonight. you think this morning is cold l tomorrow morning 29 to 33 in the suburbs. the winds will still be active but not quite as strong as it will be during the day today. freeze warnings are up and growing season still ongoing but any sensitive vegetation will be killed tonight with those temperatures at or below 32 degrees. look similar, same map tomorrow, upper 40s, low 50s with sunshine building clouds the next couple of days. next chance of wet weather doesn't arrive until thursday, watch what happens thursday morning 8 a.m. we start with sun and clouds, and there is going to be precipitation nearby and i see precipitation not rain because look at the blue on the map snow pressing through new york and pennsylvania.

speaking before that leading edge comes in so it will just be a touch of a wintry mix. potentially some of the higher terrain of worcester county depending on the timing. a lighter but steady rain fills in during the evening. it looks like it's going to pour at times thursday night into friday morning. we'll keep you posted on that. friday after any early morning rain ends the sun breaks out we'll be in the mid-50s this weekend no wash-outs but a couple of showers around. if you're heading out soon watch out for an accident on the expressway in milton at exit 11 blocking the left lane. you can see that it's not creating any but still pretty early out there and there's not too many people on the roads. we'll keep our eye on this and let you know when it clears or if it becomes a problems.

most significant demographic in modern politics, the gender gap. the difference between men and women see the issues and the candidates. since 1980, women have been on average 8% more likely to back the democratic candidate than men have. and a case can be made that this was one of the most important factors in the victories of bill clinton and barack obama. and you might automatically assume that this year will be larger than ever after all hillary clinton is the first female nominee of a major u.s. political party while donald trump has at times made achiee bunker seem like a feminist. the afternoon gender gap in polling this month is 10 points but substantial but right if line with past elections and nowhere near the margins that

it was still close to peak if not peak colors south of town. still in splashes here and there. 36 in worcester right now, 43 in boston doesn't seem so bad, right? seasonably cool october morning but the wind is making it feel colder so the wind chill in worcester is 29 degrees, 36 in boston. it's 34 in lawrence so a chilly start. you certainly do want to be bundled up. skies mainly clear and inor of sunshine. our friends in northern new england dealing with snow showers along the canadian border. highs only in the mid to upper 40s that's it, 48 in nashua, 43 in worcester, low to mid-40s, to keene it will be around 50 in plymouth. again sunshine and building clouds and tonight it's going to be cold. so you'll be complaining tomorrow morning too

in the suburbs, freeze warnings are up for parts of metro west essex county and sensitive vegetation will be killed overnight tonight with temperatures at or below freezing. tomorrow a very similar day overall. there will be a few evening clouds that come into the mix. it's really the active wind the next couple of days gusting occasionally today between 25 and 35 miles per hour. now, by nurse things bit. we start with a little bit of sunshine then the clouds increase pretty quickly. a gusty southeast wind taking over. our temperatures will slowly rise and it's really a question of how quickly we can warm up into the 40s which is still cool, and how fast this precipitation comes in, because i do think we'll get a brief wintry mix. perhaps the high terrain of worcester county thursday afternoon before a change-over it looks like a
