they were on their way home and the bus driver hit a fire hydrant, snapped a telephone pole in box. hit an suv and smashed into the side of a home. >> there was like a lot of dust in the air. and i saw some rocks flying. >> it was going really fast and bumpy and we heard something crash and then it started el practiced an emergency bus evacuation yesterday so all the students knew exactly what to do. >> they were saying how to get off the bus and how the bus was flipped and stuff. we would get out from the latch. >> a total of five students were taken to south shore medical hospital. the bus driver was taken to quincy medical center. police are investigating what

father. investigators say the younger man called police and confessed to the brutal attack. police tell us the man went in his father's bedroom with a nice and a hammer. >> reporter: the details of this case are absolutely gruesome. there's a cleanup crew still at the home. the man accused showed know motion as he appeared in court. >> in the commonwealth versus alexander anderson -- >> he's accused of killing his own father and police say it was a brutal crime. a violent murder happening 2 a.m. inside the dedham home they shared. alex anderson attacked his father paul while the victim was in bed, allegedly telling police he was aggravated with his father. >> he admitted to punching his

left the room and went downstairs and retrieved a hammer from the kitchen drawer and used the hammer to strike his father a number of times. and then he threw his father down the stairs. >> reporter: his father took out a restraining order years ago. in the neighborhood, the father and son seemed to get along. >> they both seemed like great u to be relatives comforted one another outside the house. and neighbors try to make sense of what happened. >> there's no petty crime, no -- it's a very quiet neighborhood. >> reporter: so you're shocked about this. >> yeah, i'm shocked. i came from work and i passed by the house with so many policemen. >> reporter: the motive in this tragic case remains a mystery

and tonight anderson is being held without bail. he's due back in court next month. jim smith, wbz news. one of massachusetts' most wanted is in custody. jaden smith faced a judge in fall river on murder charges. in july, smith shot and killed 29-year-old jared cohen outside his apartment. smith pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. nashua, police confirm that the body found over the weekend was jacob goulette, the teen who fell in a storm drain. tamperproof bolts and locks will be added and aluminum covers will be replaced with stainless steel. on friday night he was walking home from a friend's house when the heavy rain swept him into the open storm drain.

trump around ayotte's neck. with the polls showing 19% are less likely to back her because of her on again, off again support of trump. 64% say the trump connection makes no difference. that was a little bit of surprise. >> we take trump out of it, what's driving the race? >> both candidates are well known in new hampshire and well the women's vote 45% each. but ayotte holds a 7% lead among men. and we got a clue to why when we asked the voters, what one word comes to mind when you think of each candidate. for ayotte, the results are positive. when the most common word

flurries are flying. a few flakes in central massachusetts this evening. 14degrees on top of mount washington. and the cooler air is directed to us in the northeast. and in this part of the country, it's going to start warming up over the next couple of days. you can see the snow showers moving across northern new england and this is our next developing storm system in the middle of the country. and that's th we head into the day on thursday. tonight's story just about the cold. temperatures in the 20s to low 30s and it's going to be a really chilly night and that breeze is not going away. believe it or not. worcester has not hit the freezing mark so far this year. on average it happens on october 15th. we're a little late but nowhere near the latest.

warnings from essex county. cape cod and the islands to see sub freezing temperatures this evening. tomorrow a cold start with puffy coat weather. a little less wind and a brisk breeze and with it being out of the north, northwest. some ocean effect clouds. that will be the grayest part of the area. and tomorrow night it starts to get cold quickly. to chilliest of the stretch. as for high temperatures tomorrow. just like what we had today. mainly mid- and upper 40s. we start to change our attention to the storm on thursday. the morning is cold and then the clouds move in. and it's going to be a raw, chilly day, feeling like mid- november. and in the afternoon, the storm system approaches. and there's just a enough cold air in place where some locations could start with sleet pellets or snowflakes.

and maybe thunder and lightning is expected. and the rain will stay with us until friday morning until we start to dry out. the best chance of seeing a little bit of snow would be in central massachusetts and southwestern new hampshire and changing over to rain. and all rain is likely for eastern new england. we might get 1 to 3 inches towards the berkshires. in terms of rain, many of us close to an inch and a few town of rain. october has been a beneficial month when it comes to the drought. and here's the accuweather 7- day forecast. some big question marks. i wouldn't go making solid plans based on weather for saturday and sunday. we have a front right across the regional and it's hard to tell if we'll end up on the cooler or warmer side. >> we'll be checking back.
