square. they're busing passengers in that area now. and they are also asking people who need to get downtown to use the green line. i want to send it out to the phone now with the very latest from the back bay station. what can you tell us? >> julie is at back bay station. we're going to try to reach her in just a second have the connection, i'm going to toss it back. this is from someone else who was in the hallway there as people were kicking out those windows getting off the train. you'll notice while there is some sense of urgency, there is no real panic here. the passengers seem to be helping one another get out and also get back off the ground once they fell out of those windows now. julie is with us now at the back bay station. what can you tell us?

now on dartmouth street just outside of the back bay station, and i just talked to one of the passengers who actually kicked out the window on the car in question. she tells me she felt a jerk and saw a few sparks and then immediately the car filled with smoke. the first responder, her first instinct seeing the smoke around her was to break the window with the assistance of someone else. the someone else be transit officer, according to boston fire, who happened to be on that car as well. she assisted several people getting them off. she says there was a little bit of panic. subsequently obviously boston fire responded and the fire chief tells me there was actually a small motor fire on that car, and then they also found one on the track. the two small fires that led to

treated for smoke inhalation, but they will be fine. and right now, however, the real story is the commuter nightmare that has ensued a number of people here kind of waiting for the next train trying to figure out what they're going to do. >> and thank you so much for the people who are sharing their video, particularly in the video where you see people moving up the stairs there on a closer shot. you see how dark it was and how bright thing it must have -- frightening it must have been. we understaney restored pow tore the train which means they will -- power to the train which means they will be able to move it out of the back way station. they are busing passengers between jackson and haymarket square. we go to this newly released surveillance video showing a man who tried to kidnap a young girl in roxbury. they are hoping that video will help catch the kidnapper. >> the 13-year-old was able to

what was happening. beth? >> reporter: it was early yesterday morning here that something caught the attention of that witness and right near this alleyway and just in the nick of time. and now surveillance video show what is appears to be someone stopping the car deliberately to follow the girl. it is dark as the 13-year-old makes her way to the bus stop and beside her a car is backing up. surveillance cameras at nearby coen a man getting out and begin to follow her on to blue hill avenue. maria lacy heard what happened next. >> i just heard screaming. and i could tell it sounded like a younger person. it made me jump up out of my bed. >> reporter: the man had apparently i can't bed and pulled the -- grabbed and pulled the girl into the alleyway. >> when i tushed around, i see

i could hear her screaming and hollering. >> reporter: she hoped to attract some attention. >> i didn't know what to do, so i just started screaming, too. i told the little girl to run and the guy jumped over the fence and got away. >> reporter: she hasn't seen him in the neighborhood before and the police hope the surveillance image is recoginzable. the fact that someone stalked and attempted to abduct the girl has aarmed -- alarmed the neighborhood. >> it is scary because there are a lot of children that come out in the alley morning. >> reporter: valerie pierson believe it is fortunate she was talking same time they were. >> i thank god i was there to help and i hope the family is okay. >> reporter: and her family says the girl also tried to kick this man to defend herself, but in the end it seems all of the screaming was enough to scare him away. reporting live from roxbury, i'm beth germano, wbz news. thank you. donald trump took some time

few blocks from the white house. on the other side of the country, a protest of trump. someone smashed his star on the hollywood walk of fame. it was caught on camera. and meanwhile, the democrat hillary clinton is celebrating her 69th birthday in florida. one of about 10 states that will likely decide this election. another one just north of us in new hampshire. wbz political analyst jon keller is here, and a new poll shows both candidates are struggling to gain an advantage in the granitat southwestern numbers on what -- and the internal numbers really tells a tale. check out these ratings. president obama, senator and her challenge, the governor, all more or less breaking even. but clinton is 23 points under water with only 38% viewing her favorably and trump is even in worse shape. only 2/3 of new hampshire voters take a dim view of him. and these numbers really

and that's got to be discouraging for trump. he has poured a lot of effort into new hampshire. 34 trips since the campaign began. >> i have to imagine there are a lot of undecideds left. is there anything that tip this is race? >> reporter: it is hard to say concretely, but if you believe the debates were the last big chance to sway a large number of voters, as i do, then these numbers showing voters thought clinton performed better in the debates by a more one margin, that has to be good news for her, especially since our polls show the campaign's biggest news stories, the wikileaks dumps of clinton's e- mails and the infamous trump groping audiotape have been pretty much to be a wash with new hampshire voters. about half of them say the stories made no difference to them. get this, we asked the voters how well they thought the candidates would do representing the interest of women and clinton absolutely

trump is dramatically under performing. the republican party as a whole. if that means the republican or conservative independent women are rejecting trump, well, that could be a decisive factor on november 8. >> we might get more answers on that. what comes out in the poll results tomorrow? >> well, i can't tell you exactly or else i'd have to do something horrible to you, but we're going to learn where the presidential candidates stand within their party, with women, and, of course, with all voters and i'll bring of our word clouds. i love these. what one word do you attach to the candidate when you hear their name? the results are eyebrow raising. >> nationally all eyes are on new hampshire. jon keller, thank you very much. >> thank you. and has first class become passe? one airline is rolling out a new luxury. and a church theft caught on camera. it is what the pastor did next that has so many people talking.

46 in boston. 40 in worcester. we have had the breeze today. the wind chill in the 30s. you can see a thermal gradient. this line here, nice and warm to the south of it. it is cold to the north of it, which includes where they're playing the world series, cleveland. it is a raw day there. more rain will develop and head there. so it is going to be a difficult night to get that game in. this is the storm that we're watching. tonight, partly cloudy skies. it is quite cold with only 20s back into the 30 still a bit of a north- northwesterly breeze. and there are frost advisories out for the coastline. remember last night, we didn't have these for the immediate coast and now they're in effect. freeze warnings for communities that might not have had a freeze just yet. so very chilly stuff. tomorrow morning it is a cold start. even a chance for a couple of rain showers to move in off the ocean. we will be switching around to the east. rain will develop as we head toward the mid afternoon. even though this one model isn't showing any snow here, i

the snow as it moves in, especially for the higher elevations. i'll show you that in a minute. the rain will be moving across. it is a cold rain. an ugly night a chance for heavier downpours, and tho will be towards the -- and those will be during the middle of the night. that will be wrapping up early on friday emergency as the heavy stuff moves -- friday morning as the heavy stuff moves up. and wet stuff across central and southwesternw over to rain. little to no accumulation. anyone east of 495, it should be just all rain for this one. in terms of winds, more easterly in the morning. tomorrow night, that's when we start to really pick up the wind. the middle of the night, some people might be waking up. gutses -- gusts ahoo high as 50 -- gusts as high as 50 to 55.

in the drier air. one to two inches of rain that is a good thing for the drought. and also a chance for a few morning showers on friday. and then on saturday, a slight chance for a shower. it looks like the majority of this weekend is going to be dry. it will just be blustery ahead of our next front. here is your accuweather seven- day forecast. so mild along with the wind. as we look towards sunday, we'll be in the middle 50s and mainly dry. excellent. we'll be cool but quiet and dry there for the holiday. >> lisa, over to you. >> thank you. training parents to communicate more effectively with kids with autism. and dr. marshall is here tonight. this affects so many people. >> it does. as you know, kids can really benefit from intensive therapy, but what if parents were given therapy? it turns out that is actually benefit their kids as well. it is a new study that when

effectively communicate with their own kids, the kids showed improved communication skills and the reduction in the severity of their autism symptoms. the kids in the study were young. they were between 2 and 5. so it is not clear if older kids would respond in the same way. the experts say the results are encouraging and even a modest improvement in communication can make a really big difference for families. i just think that is wonderful that they can sort of tap into parents as resources >> and especially if you're feeling helpless, to be empowered in this way with some training, i would imagine that goes a long way in communicating better with your children. >> right. and being able to pick up on special cues. always good information, doctor. thank you. thank you. there is something new in the seaport. yo sushi just opened its stand alone in the u.s. it goes around a conveyor belt and the

community service. the people in getter boston stepping up to help a girl. oliva is she lives with a neurological disorder. she could really benefit from a service dog, but the dog costs $25,000. and as kate merrill shows us what happened when our friends at mix 104.1 took to oh the airwaves and generous listeners took the calls. >> reporter: she is only 9, but oliva loves everything megan treanor, and while she helped pig which songs the play on mix

radio show were helping her. >> oliva is 9 years old and she is dealing with a rhett syndrome. >> reporter: it is a neurological condition and oliva has seizures. they devoted part of her morning show to help her get the service dog she needs but cannot afford. they have raised they are still $5,000 short. >> and so she is able to sleep in her own bedroom so that i don't have to worry about seizures. >> what a difference it could be for her. it could be a game changer for her. >> reporter: so the hosts, carson, kennedy and their producer, took it to the listeners for help. >> here is a young girl who is so close to getting this help. it is only $4,000. if we can't knock this out in a couple of hours on the radio. what are we doing here? >> reporter: the real problem

money by december 31, then oliva loses out on the dog. >> and the dog goes on to the next family that needs the dog and you have to go back in and start over the 18-month process. >> reporter: but their listeners weren't about to let that happen. and just 20 minutes later -- >> you're in tears over there. what is going on? are you okay? >> we have $25,100. stories tonight, dramatic video inside back bay station. you can see people jumping out of the t. desperate to get to safety as that station fills with smoke. also breaking news on beacon hill. a car slam ing into a building. there are reports of injury. and an elderly woman missing for three days is found alive. we have a lot of breaking stories. we want to start with this dramatic video from back bay station. you can see the panic as people were jumping out of the windows of an orange line train running down the platform to safety. >> and you can see the smoke filling the station. part of the reason for the panic. we're live at back bay station with the breaking details. julie? >> reporter: and lisa, david, we can tell you that we now know it was a small motor fire.

it sparked. it created this smoke. firefighters responded and they also found a small trash fire as well. but let's take you right to that video because when this car filled with smoke, several people actually -- several people -- guys, we're going to send it back to you right now. >> thank you. we'll talk over the video for you and describe it. obviously she is having some kind of a problem outside of the station there. this video sent by kicking out the windows and jumping out. we have spoken to witness whose have been tweeting to us saying at first the people are saying there was some type of an explosion. we know that wasn't the case now. it was an overhead motor take was on fire, but it speaks to the panic at the moment. >> let's hear what some of those witnesses saw and heard. >> my car filled up with smoke. and i saw fire.
