coast it was heavy rain and the big story today -- it will be the weekend. danielle niles is here on the storm watch. >> good morning. happy friday. the good news is that the rain is shipping out in terms of the downpours and there is strong wind out there. downpours, pushing through, in southern new hampshire, newburyport, kingston, and brentwood up into acting, extending through the new hampshire seacoast into southern maine, lifting off to the northeast and we have scattered showers. traveling around -- with some downpours hugging the coastline. down near chatham and then you get a break in the action but more lingering showers through the central part of this date and the burst of snow last evening. orange, up to new hampshire, scattered, light showers for us. the wind right now is strong but it is not damaging. a couple hours ago we had guests over 50 in some spots on cape cod.

going up to 40 on nantucket, 37 miles per hour there. a wind advisory remains in effect until 10:00 a.m. we may see gusts up to 50 at the coastline that might cause isolated pockets of damage. back to the west, lingering showers, the story today. a lot of clouds and maybe some peeks of sunshine. temperatures in the low 40s from keen to worcester and 51 in boston is where we will stay, right around over 50 with leftover shower this morning. a light showers through lunchtime and some showers mainly light for the ride home. we have got a weekend to talk about the details. good morning. aside from that rain there is -- construction and closures. if you're going into the studio 93 five, exit 24, government center inside the o'neill tunnel is closed. on the pike, construction eastbound, two right lanes closed at the market street overpass and the right lane is closed at the allston brighton tollways and they will both reopen at 5:00 this morning. breaking overnight, police

a new hampshire motel after reports of shots fired. this is the hotel in hampton. the union leader reports a man was found dead in one of the motel rooms hours after he fired shots appellees. the motel was evacuated. police blocked the road and told residents to stay away. will bring you updates. a scared for my pants. >> an airplane carrying of the nominee, his staff, and reporter skids off of the runway in new york the 737 eastern airlines charter was conditions out party at the a came down hard, overshot the runway, leaving a huge gash before coming to a stop in the grass. the governor pence tweeted his gratitude to first responders saying so thankful everyone airplane a safe. donald trump reassured his supporters that mike pence was okay to >> i just spoke to our future vice president and he is okay.

the service centers will be open. they will have extended hours. julian bond check, wbz this morning. we also want to remind you that easy path customer hotline and the website will be down this weekend for a system upgrade for customer service hours and centers. you can check out the website, cbsboston.com. a developing story, police looking for a suspicious man who approached a child yesterday afternoon, offering the boy candy and possibly taking pictures. it happened around 3:45 pm at the elementary school. the boy did not stop and he made it home safely. police say that the man was in a white four door sedan, about 35 to 40 years old and somewhere between 5'9" and 60 tolbert if you have information, you should call police. boston police are releasing video of a man they believe i tried to kidnap a girl at a bus stop near blue hill avenue on tuesday morning. they say that the witnesses saw him leading the scene and -- in a newer model white nissan sentra. the girl is okay. anyone with information should call boston police. a man could face kidnapping charges after police say he dragged his girlfriend out of her workplace. police say worker at the company in londonderry called 911 he saw victor rosario dragging his girlfriend out by the arm. the police put a picture of him and his car on social media. he and his girlfriend were found by massachusetts state

at the victim was inside the vehicle and is determined to be okay. the suspect was detained and questioned and released but the investigation continues and he is facing several -- charges pending the outcome. of those potential charges include kidnapping and domestic simple assault. they have a child together but the child was not in the car at the time. a fight over a muslim cemetery might have to be decided by a court. this is the parcel of land where the islamic society of worcester is proposing the cemetery. 10 months of discussions between the society and the town of broken down. the group is suing in massachusetts land court and the aclu plans to file a suit in district court. donald trump goes to new hampshire to hold a rally at the radisson armory in manchester at 12:30 pm this

>> details, details. >> i mean, it is super festive for halloween. >> it absolutely is. it is spooky out this morning. a lot of rain out there, but it is moving out? >> that is the good news. off of the coastline in the next 30 minutes or so for most of it -- that is the good news. we will be trying out throughout the course of the morning with some left over showers so that the rain that we had overnight and some of the snow mid central and western massachusetts -- it is now gone and we haven't downpours from hampton up to new hampshire, portsmouth in the next 30 minutes and light rain from newberry port, plum island, back down to beverly and one little downpour -- pushing offshore in the next 20 minutes and they are downpours over

all the way from the vineyard -- the east side to the mid and outer cape, pouring when you get to chatham and a couple of showers left over in the central part of the state. i think that it is a little bit overdone but you get the idea. there will be lingering showers in northern massachusetts from mid to late morning but otherwise we will see mainly cloudy skies. late in the day we make it an additional shower or two. it should be light, not a big issue but there will be light showers around throughout the afternoon and evening. what about the weekend? it has been whipping in the past couple of hours. i think the strongest -- we may see gusts of 40 but we did gust a couple of hours ago 258 -- 51 in fair having, gusting up to 50 and nantucket, 44 and plymouth, 42 miles per hour so there may be some branches down in a few spots. the wind advisory last until 10:00 a.m. and it gets a little bit earlier in eastern massachusetts. we may see 40 until 45 miles per hour that may cause isolated damage. the hour by hour wind forecast, you notice what happens, inland, gust, 2230 this

cause damage. it will be gusty wind out of the northwest by later on, a few gusts between 30 and perhaps 40 miles per hour for the second half of the day. the high temperatures, upper 40s, low 50s, 51 in boston, so we do not rebound all that much. we come up by a few degrees this afternoon, tonight, partly cloudy, about 41 in downtown boston and the weekend is looking pretty good. here's what happens. tomorrow we start with sunshine. i think the clouds increase. there may be an isolated, isolated shower. i think most of the day tomorrow is fine. it will be breezy with the wind out of the southwest. sunday we start with sunshine. there are a couple of showers that may try to sneak in later on sunday but overall i think that the weekend is mainly dry and most of us will be 55 to 60

his health is failing. in a court file obtained by the globe, the lawyer for the u.s. bureau of prisons says that he needs extra time to be because of complications from cancer. the bureau of prisons as recommended that he be released early from pr w corruption. there will be a hearing on tuesday. good news for the pregnant waitress stabbed in a deadly rampage. she just gave birth to her baby. she posted the news on the facebook page yesterday. she did not reveal the gender or the name. 9.7 pounds put a big baby. 22 inches. stabbed several times when arthur darosa are burst into the silver city galleria. the customer was killed trying to save her. yesterday his -- his wife and the off-duty sheriff's deputy reflected on the terrible day. >> i think that george is the hero. george -- intervened within seconds without knowing what

they think that accident caused him to lose control of the suv. most of the drivers infractions are minor for things like speeding but the license was suspended several times. he and his passengers suffered minor injuries. voters in summerville will decide if the green light, the most expensive school building project in the state history. the high school is expected to cost $257 million with more than half of that cost being picked up by city taxpayers. starting in 2018, it would increase taxes until the debt is paid off, around 2054 according to the estimates but supporters say that it is cheaper than bringing the old building up to code. look out below. >> lookout about. pumpkins will be flying off of their boston roof today.

pumpkins will be falling from the sky in boston today sort of and it is all part of an annual tradition of boston university. the pumpkin drop is -- takes place at 12:30 pm so if you are in the area, watch your heads. to make them later. >> somebody -- the boston children's museum is getting into the spirit. >> they are hosting a celebration that begins tonight with a monster mash dance party from 6:30 pm until 8:00 p.m. for the activities continue through monday with face painting, maskmaking, decorating, trick-or-treating and you are invited to come in costume. there is candy free trick-or- treating and different exhibits. >> that is my favorite halloween song.
