the latest on officers and emts that were sent to the hospital. a double shooting in dorchester: how to innocent bystanders that injured in the accident. tearing down tolls: what to expect for traffic ahead on this week neshek to meet. we start with ricky news this morning: bus he shoot and kill a man they say attacked officers thank you for being with us this morning. police tell us and around 12:dirty this morning a man's mother called saying he was suffering from paranoia and schizophrenia. at first officers tried to let the medical personnel talk to the man and calm him down, but the 31-year-old struggled and injured 2 of them. police tried to disarm him. he continued to struggle until he

>> these are always tough calls to deal with. i think we try to deal with a medical emergency people first. you turned on them and attacked them , and then we tried to disarm him but unfortunately we couldn't get the knife away and it left us no choice. >> the officers and 2 emts were sent to the hospital. the commissioner says the district attorney's office will take over the investigation. the dead suspect's name has not been released. also, 6.1 magnitude earth rocked central and southern italy just days after a shock hit the nation earlier this week . there have been no immediate reports of injury and death but plenty of damage has been done. many buildings were damaged from an office earthquake that left thousands of people homeless. it is 6:02, time to check in with very -- barry for a look at our sunday temperature.

innocent bystander dead and the teenager wounded. it is possible the woman was caught in crossfire. we are not at work, we are not in iraq or afghanistan. we're here in the community of roxbury dorchester.>> reporter: on the street in dorchester, 2 people shot, a teenage boy wounded and a woman around dirty was hit in the chest and she was ki it is possible the teenager was the one being targeted. >> it is said, you look at how many young kids there are. it kills you to see the young kids. you can see the fear on their face. they shouldn't have to be witnesses to this. the only way it will stop is if the public steps up. >> reporter: another murder in broad daylight and the community has had enough. >> we should be able to walk down the street and not have to worry about ducking for bullets and running for cover. this is our community. if you know something, help the

got to stop here expect most young people think if you have a right to settle it with a gun . someone has to die for you to feel better about yourself. we have to change that mentality through education. >> people say anyone of them could've been the victim. >> i was coming over here to do some lottery tickets. i asked my daughter if she would come but she was playing her little nintendo stuff. she is 11 years old. a coulve daughter. >> police and detectives are working very hard on this case. as of late saturday night, still no arrest. there were also reviewing surveillance video that they were able to get from area businesses. a teenager suffered serious head injuries at a fight. an 18-year-old is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. the 15-year-old victim remains in hospital.

several vehicles. 5 others hurt in the crash is under investigation. paramedics rushed the father and his 6 your old daughter to the hospital after a crash or both are recovering. the driver crashed into a tractor-trailer on route 6 last night. police are investigating the accident. this morning police are looking for shawn chandler. he is wanted in connection with the deadly shooting of donald nancy after a fight last night. police consider him armed and officials are now saying an american airlines jetliner experienced a rare in serious engine failure on friday forcing the pilot to abort a takeoff. flames and heavy black smoke poured from the side of the boeing 757. the massive engine failure caused parts to break off and spew out onto the tarmac. 21 people were hurt on the miami bound plane. a full investigation is underway.

a knife. the police helped and were forced to fifer. the commissioner says the officer really had no choice. >> he swung repeatedly at the officers with the knife. unfortunately, the ampses had no choice, they fired, and, um, they killed the individual. again, you know, it's tough. were sent to the hospital where the emts had head and back injuries. the district attorney's office with take over the situation. the dead suspect's name has not been released. a shooting left an apparent innocent bystander and a teenager dead. it's likely the woman was caught in the cross fire.

we've got three women holding statewide office now, the auditor, the attorney, but we still rank only in the middle of the pack. >> 24th. >> why is that and how is that going to change? >> well, i think why that is is because there are so many male incumbents at the state, but we are right now at, women make up over massachusetts. we are at 25% elected female in the state house. the massachusetts state caucus has nominated 6 candidates and when they win, we are going to move that needle to 32% at the state house. they are small gains, but they become compounded. our mission is to get more
