>> reporter: authorities are still on the scene processing it. police us this couple was crossing the street here attempting to catch a bus in front of city hall when they were hit by a 6-ton truck. >> this appears to be a tragic accident. >> reporter: the driver remained on-scene following the accident. at times visibly upset. po 71-year-old man visiting from boston right in front of city hall at 7:00. >> they were attempting to get across from city hall. so they were crossing in the crosswalk at this time. >> reporter: the victims were rushed to legacy hospital with life-threatening injuries where they remain this evening.

police have recovered the car stolen in a violent home invasion in sterling. and tonight there is an all-out search for three masked men who tied up a woman and ransacked her home. ken mccloud is live in sterling tonight. >> reporter: i'm at cul-de-sac of million dollar homes, named after the daughter of the he lives right there. and it was his house targeted by home invaders this morning. >> reporter: night fall brought some peace to this big house after a day that stunned the neighborhood. >> very unnerving. >> reporter: police say it was about 9:30 this morning when a frio of intruders slip -- trio of intruders slipped into the home, apparently through an unlocked door. >> three males, masked up, gloved up, all wearing black
