a woman hit by a car as she crossed street and police tell us she was rushed to the hospital. >> the crash happened during the morning rush. we're live on the en . >> reporter: police say a woman and her dog were crossing commonwealth avenue here when a car hit them both. police block off a section of commonwealth avenue after they say a man wifing this white suv hit a woman and her dog as they were crossing the street. police say the crash happened around 8:30 during the busy morning commute. she was rushed

the driver stayed on scene and talked with police. you can see damage to the the front left side of his vehicle. investigators also drove the vehicle up and down the road to test its brakes before eventually towing it away. it's not clear where the woman was coming from, but there is a veterinary hospital and a popular dog walking trail just up the road. police have not been able to provides dog are doing. the cause of the crash is under investigation. an 18-year old is in critical but stable condition after being hit by a car in dorchester last night. the driver did stop appeared police say it does not appear he was drinking or using his phone at the time.
