they couldn't watch him that long. he had to come home so i could vote. >> our emphasis has been to keep the voting going no matter what. >> this as hundreds of thousands help decide the next president of the united states. >> we should really be ensuring that all american citizens, everyone that's eligible, has the ability to cast their vote today. >> the lawyers committee for civil rights and economic justice in has 500 volunteers in 11 cities across the state. they sent a volunteer to look at the long lines and the group has notified the office of the secretary of state. >> the crown jewel of american liberties, and we're ensuring that everybody has equal access to the ballot box. >> and if you have any issues

hampshire and this race is one where i've been going out earning the support of the people. >> ayotte wrote in mike pence, distancing herself from the republican nominee, especially following the remarks about women. it cost her with this voter. >> it took her song to -- i don't want to say denounce trump but to change her mind. >> she's a well liked senator facing maggie hassan. making it a tough choice. but it's a straight republican ticket for some. >> i own a small business and it's very important to me. with the cost of healthcare and everything else. >> reporter: her supporters hope her lukewarm embrace of trump won't cost her votes. >> an unfortunate consequence

ayotte a slight edge but it depends on who turns out. i'm beth germano, wbz news. >> and it's not just the race for senate and president. >> massachusetts voters will decide on four ballot questions, two of them hotly contested. and ryan kath is live with more on question four. >> supporters will be gathering for question four when the polls close in a couple hours. that's the measure to legalize recreational marijuana. and here's what that would mean. people 21 years or older would be able to use or possess up to an ounce of marijuana. and households could grow up to a dozen plants. dispensaries wouldn't open until january of 2018. supporters argue it would create jobs, take pot out of the black market.

about how to enforce things like drunk driving and the sale of edibles which can be a danger to young kids. if the measure emerges victorious. it would be despite opposition from the attorney general and the mayor just to name a few. and louisa moller in the south end. supporters will be amassing soon. both sides spent hours at the polls today, trying to talk to voters to the very last second. a yes on question two would allow up to 12 new charter schools in massachusetts each year or an increase in enrollment in existing charter schools. governor charlie baker says it

thousands on waiting lists already. and opponents like mayor marty walsh -- and charters schools underserve students with the highest needs. a recent poll put the yes vote and the no vote at a virtual tie. and the most recent vote showed points. right off the bat -- we missed about the polling hours. most of the polls close at 7:00 and many stay open to 7:30 or 8:00. check with your local clerk. don't miss the opportunity to vote after hours here. >> the importance of this vote on what happens going forward? >> it could have a huge impact. it could shape the climate for

question two allows more charter schools. this is a test of teacher union political clout. it's exposed rifts. and the state party formally opposing. and big named democrats supporting it. a win for a yes vote to expand charter schools would boost governor baker's standing. and a win for the no marijuana legalization is also a big one. key medical, political, and religious leaders have opposed it. but what seems like a rising tied of support is here and in oh states. we always wondered if the baby boomers would scrap marijuana laws. we may get our answer tonight. and while it would be a huge shock if trump were to win

we'll get back to the 30s. and every town should stay above freezing. and then we track changes in the weather. lows in the mid-30s to low 40s. i think boston will stay around 44 degrees for a low temp. and clouds will be increasing, especially after midnight. and by tomorrow morning, rain showers will be starting to move in across the interior. and those showers will push across as we head into the evening across cape cod and the islands. i don't think anyone is going to manage a quarter inch of rain. everything would be less than that. not the drought relief we would like to see. mild ahead of the front. 50s tomorrow afternoon. and a few towns in southeastern mass will likely hit 60 indonesia. once the front moves offshore. we're in the low 50s for highs and lots of sun.

change. in the 50s in the morning and a strong front will be arriving in the afternoon. and with that front, a band of clouds and a slight chance of a shower on friday which is veterans day. for any of the observations. the biggest focus will be on the wind and the falling temperatures. the wind turning to the northwest. and a blustery cold friday night. saturday, a chilly day. breezy out of the northwest. and the cold is not going to stick around for all that the winds turning more westerly and we'll be back above 50 degrees on sunday afternoon. clear and chilly for sunday night football for the patriots. back through the 40s after a day of highs in the middle 50s around gillette. we have a super moon next week. it's the closest full moon of this year. not just this year but since january of 1948.
