the financial fall-out from the election. good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning, chris and kate. donald trump's surprise win and uncertainty surrounding his presidency is shocking financial markets. so far tonight we've seen a global market sell-off. at one point dow futures reporting more than an 800-point loss this morning. the issue here is uncertainty. markets do not like uncertainty, and r -- and there are a lot of question marks surrounding donald trump's economic policies. he wants to revamp the tax code and u.s. immigration. there's certain the u.s. could withdraw from major trade agreements. the mexican pace owe dropped

sharply. chris and kate. >>how does this compare to the brexit vote we just saw? >> reporter: there's a lot of similarities and the mood is similar. if you remember, in the u.k. they had expected the markets at least priced in that the u.k. would decide to stay in the e.u. that vote shocked the market. there was a huge but then markets recovered. i think that's the question now. are we going to see a similar type of thing, a huge sell-off and then a recovery quickly or will this be more long term. we'll have to see, chris and kate. >>thank you, jill. we'll check in with her next hour as well. we want to check in with our forecast with danielle niles. >>not a ton of rain today, for

come ahead of showers. generally light showers for the most part. you notice kind of the coverage has been shrinking over the last hour or so, so i think as the rain comes in a lot of it's going to lose a little bit of steam and it may be a shower or two through the afternoon. the commute will be dry, midday an isolated shower, through early afternoon when we start to see a few more, and then late in the afternoon you get more of for boston back to the south shore and cape. don't expect a lot of rainfall today, i think the most substantial around a 10th of an inch. most of it will wrap up between 9:00 and 10:00. high temperatures not as warm as yesterday. norwood, taunt en, plymouth, 26 degrees.

as cold as it could be. partly cloudy skies, 30 to 36 in the suburbs and about 38 downtown. no need to worry about frost. the wind is going to stay active tonight, about 10 to 20 miles per hour, and it will be strong tomorrow. in the 50s with sun and clouds for thursday. 52 in boston, 54 in bedford, a pretty normal fall afternoon. veterans' day looks a little bit milder meaning we come up to 57 or 58, but the wind will add bite to the air gusting to 40 miles per hour on friday. saturday still windy and colder, so 44 for a high. we make a rebound sunday into the mid 50s, nice fall day. the weekend is chilly to start but looking dry, up near 60 for the start of next week and we'll still be dry through tuesday. we have an easy right from the north this morning. you can expect a smooth ride just like

married to the police chief is charged with rape. brian butler was arrested last night. no details on the allegations. police say he's being charged with one count of rape and one count of indecent assault and battery. he's being held on $25,000 bail. an inmate escaped in lawrence. police are searching for robert ready who walked away from the lawrence correctional alternative center minimum security facility that helps low-level offenders become productive members of society. you are urged to call police if you see him. police searching for three men missing who didn't return from a fishing trip yesterday afternoon. the coast guard is using both boat and air patrols in the search. at the same time there's no sign of a man knocked into the
