nicole jacobs is live in manchester with reaction from both candidates. nicole, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, kate. not all the votes have been counted. roughly 93% of precincts reporting at this time and many see kelly ayotte and maggie hassan in a dead heat this morning. senator kelly ayotte is trying to hold onto her seat but it has not been easy for her. headquarters very early this morning feeling confident. >>we're very upbeat about where the race is, but we will not know tonight, we believe, what the outcome is. and i believe strongly in the fact that we want to have every vote in in this race before we come out and really talk to you about a victory here.

in boston. we've got 30s from southern new hampshire stretching back into metro west, 32 in concord, 34 in nashua, 35 in norwood. and some 30s on the cape and islands as well including the vineyards. fal muth at 39, 37 in hyannis. chatham hitting in the mid 40s. there will be a that give way to a little bit of sunshine this morning, but the clouds will rule today, and they come out ahead of showers that are kind of falling apart a little bit as they come into eastern new york. so i'm not anticipating a ton of rainfall today. little if any substantial rain for all of us. in fact, most of the morning to midday is dry. here the map at about 1:00. a few showers north of boston, maybe one or two south of the city. not a lot of green showing up on the map.

surround a trump presidency is shocking the financial markets. overseas we're seeing global markets selling off, asian and european markets tumbled at one point today here in the u.s. dow futures reporting an 800 point drop at the open. they have since recovered a great deal especially after hillary clinton conceded. markets do not like uncertainty. there are a lot of question marks surrounding donald trump's economic positions. he said he wants to revamp tax code, u.s. he's been critical of the fed. there's been certain the u.s. could withdraw from some trade agreements. there are fears that a trump presidency would mean less trade with mexico. we'll have flor trump's victory speech. and new hampshire has elected a new governor, the race called overnight. and we're following other news this morning, harvard taking action over new

breaking news, overnight police investigating a murder where a 30-year-old man was shot on savannah avenue just before 11 last night. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. no information has been released on a suspect or motive. anyone with information should call boston police. a salem police officer who was married to the police chief is charged with rape and due in court today. brian butler was arrested last night. no details on the allegations, but police say he's being charged with one t indecent assault and battery. he's on paid administrative leave being held on $25,000 bail. an inmate escaped in lawrence and this morning police are searching for 24-year-old robert reedy. officials say he walked away from the lawrence correctional alternative center yesterday, a minimum security facility that helps low-level oftenners become product of members of society. he is wanted on drug-possession charges. call police if you see

cod bay. their boat did not return from a fishing trip yesterday and their truck and trailer are still parked at the marina. the coast guard is using boats and air patrols in the search. at the same time still no sign of a man knocked into the water by a wave. he and another man were fishing in gloucester yesterday when the wave hit. the other man called 911. the missing span in his 30s from the boston area -- the man is in his 30s from the boston area. the tufts daily is reporting 40 to 45 women dropped out of a sorority after the former president who also quit says she was told by the national organization that she should not extend a bid to a trans gender re-cruelty. a report about the harvard men's cross country team that rated the appearance of women on the cross country team will be

athletic director says he's asking the school's lawyers to look into the document. harvard recently cancelled the men's soccer season after finding out they created a document with sexually explicit comments about the women's soccer team. this morning the faa is investigating be a you will -- an ult light plane crash. the 5-year-old -- the 55-year-old man was taking off and crashed, the pilot made to shore but needed help life, anybody moving around the airplane at all, so we put on the cold-water rescue suit and i just went in and started to swim towards the airplane to see if there was something we could do. >>we loaded him up into the canoe, and made him as comfortable as possible and got him back to the shore. >>the pilot is recovering this morning, and he is expected to survive. why the plane crashed is still under investigation. lots more in our next half hour. we're following the

over the last three or four decades, particularly the emphasis on identity politics where you take groups who define themselves by racial, ethnic, or sexual identity, hone in on their issues and excite them to support you and oppose the other party. well donald trump just proved two can play at that game and the extent of the white vote that came out, there's no other way to describe it, was really the deciding factor in this race, although it should be african-american and latino voters than mitt romney did fours years ago. after everything was settled, the insults, all the episodes, that is something i think political pundits are going to be taking a close look at. >>massachusetts voters also had 4 ballot questions, two of which were very contentious. >>the mass. teachers association

exploiting that aggressively and won an overwhelming victory to continue to cap the number of charter schools in our inner cities. the problems that prompted the pressure to lift the cap remain, so in a sense, the onus is now back on them to make more progress on raising test scores and at least equaling some of the achievements that charter schools have racked up over the question h the marijuana legal asian -- legalization, we were one of a number of states that went that route. it didn't surprise me because of the nature of massachusetts. it's a baby boomer dominated political culture and marijuana is sort of a common thing within the baby boom generation. all of the colleges are here and so forth. so we'll see what happens. we

a 30-year-old man was shot last night. the victim was shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. no information has been released on a suspect or motive. anyone with information should call boston police. a salem police officer who's married to the police chief is charged with rape. brian butler was arrested just last night after 5:00. no details on the allegations, but police say he's being charged with one count of rape and one count of indecent assault and battery. he's on now and is being held on $25,000 bail. the coast guard is searching for three missing men in cape cod bay. their truck and trailer are still parked at the marina. the coast guard is using boat and air patrols in this search. at the same time there's no sign of a man knocked into the water by a wave. he and another man were fishing when the wave hit.
