from ayotte but we have heard that she called to congratulate maggie hassan for victory. it was speculated all day that there might be a call for a recount. this morning, governor hassan was believing that the numbers are already adding up for her. >> we are confident that we have won this race and we, of course, want to make sure every vote is counted. >> reporter: but her rival, kelly ayotte, wasn't ready to concede, but giving supporters the same message last night. >> we are upbeat and confident and want to make sure we do this the new hampshire way because every vote matters. >> reporter: it wasn't until mid- mid-afternoon that there

presidential election. even trump supporters say there were times when he crossed the line talking about women and people with disabilities and different races and faiths. dr.mallika marshall, there may be reconciling and valuable lessons. >> i heard from children who said they were worried that their friend would be deported. there is a lot of question thas kids have, and the most important thing that parents can do is you will do you can do to protect them. in a democracy, you don't always win and you have to show respect to those who think differently than you do, and you believe in the country and respect the presidency, and depending on the child's age, you can explain how the government works with checks and balances to hopefully prevent some things they may

bill shields has details. >> reporter: he has been a salem police officer for 23 years but investigators now say officer brian butler sexually assaulted a male prisoner on halloween night. >> he performed oral sex on the victim in the broom closet. >> reporter: on halloween night, an allegedly drunk man was taken into custody and while cameras allegedly show officer butler touching the man and then taking him into a broom closet and performing a sex act. but butler's attorney said it may be consensual. >> the allegation that is made was that there was sexual behavior between an individual and my client. >> reporter: salem's police
