we are americans first. we're patriots first. we all want what is best for this country. >> and tonight, we have a team of reporters covering all angles beginning with liam martin. >> liam joins us live outside trump tour. liam? >> reporter: lisa and david, protests here across from trump tower all day people walking by taking selfies in front of the home of the president-elect who said he will try and bring the country together after the nastiest political campaign in recent memory. >> the forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer. >> reporter: a few hours after donald trump celebrated his win, hillary clinton accepted her defeat. >> this is painful, and it will be for a long time. >> reporter: clinton delivered

supporters and campaign workers in manhattan while the secretary of state had appeared to win more vote bus lost in the electoral college to trump. >> there are democrats and respects republicans independents across the country and i say we come together and work as a people. hillary clinton has worked very hard for a very long time and we owe her a debt of gratitude for her service to our country. >> we are now all rooting for success, united and leading the country. >> reporter: trump sounded like a man eager to get started. >> while the campaign is over,

now really just beginning. >> reporter: and that work will officially begin january 20th. trump will be sworn in at noon on a friday at the capitol building with president obama in attendance. liam martin, wbz news. and emotion is running high for people of both parties. dozens gathered outside trump tower and others showed support. in boston, protesters gathered outside the statehouse. there is word they will be marching tonight, denouncing donald trump's victory. in new england and around the country, people are divided. >> some are encouraged, some discouraged. christina hager is live in billerica tonight. christina? >> reporter: even though hillary clinton won massachusetts, billerica is one

wherever residents should not wake up in a complete state of surprise. it shouldn't take us long to find the big trump sign in billerica, and the homeowner who battled to keep it up. >> okay. one of them was torn up and thrown in my neighbor's yard. >> reporter: it didn't take us long to find blue collar frustration. >> i was a manufacturing engineer and it country, went to thailand, singapore, all that good stuff. >> reporter: one of a handful of red towns in a very blue state with the large number of voters for trump in massachusetts. >> you could see republican signs everywhere. i saw no hillary signs at all. >> reporter: what a contrast to boston where there was shock

place of hope and prosperity and we will continue to move that agenda forward. >> and no secret that mayor walsh and donald trump are not friends. jon, will this be a problem in any way? >> it could be. >> really? >> absolutely. david, you recall in august of last year, walsh criticized trump for his disparaging remarks about mexican- immigrants and he was called clown in response and walsh called on trump for the ice bucket challenge, something trump did not appreciate. it wouldn't surprise me if there was an icy chill on the relationship but keep in mind that trump is a new yorker with a long history of involvement in urban affairs and might be recept to interact with mayors like walsh especially after his campaign problems about improving living conditions for

unseating kelly ayotte. beth germano has more. beth? >> reporter: it's a turn of events just within the hour. we had not heard from ayotte, thinking maybe she would call for a runoff but she has called hassan, congratulating her bringing anen to the race. it was a hastily arranged press conference and hassan said she was looking forward to working with the president-elect. >> it's time to come together. >> reporter: she wasn't waiting for the final tally from the secretary of state. midafternoon, a slim margin of 1023 votes were confirmed. turning the seat from republicans to democrats. >> it's like 1/10 of 1%.

speculation that her opponent, kelly ayotte, would call for a runoff. ayotte supporters said that a recount would have been reassuring. >> something this important, ask for the recount. >> reporter: but hassan said she will go to washington looking for ways >> if the elected officials follow the example of the people of new hampshire, we could make progress. thas regardless of political parties. >> reporter: but it seems that ayotte and campaign spent the day pouring over the numbers and could not find a path to victory. beth germano, wbz news. shocked and concerned but not afraid.

during the campaign, donald trump promised to deport millions of immigrants, build a wall on the mexican border and ban muslims. >> in his victory speech overnight he called for unity.

and wind to the north and west meaning that the cold front is moving through. the cooler air will slip down across new england overnight and it will feel chillier tomorrow morning. a few rain showers moving through, most very, very light, enough to wet the ground, and that's about it. the main area of low pressure, the curl here south of -- staten island, that will move south. if we get .1" or .2" that will be it. down to 30s and the front will cross cape cod and the islands. but the sun will be there

sunnier day, breezy and cool. the temperature at 50 at lunchtime and the breeze out of the west and turns more southwesterly in the evening and a chilly night as we fall back in the courts. the highs will be mainly in the low 50s exactly where we should be for this time of year and then changes on friday, and this front has more going for it. it doesn't have a lot of moisture, so a band of clouds, maybe a sprinkle moving through, and the biggest y and windier. we could see gusts out of the northwest at 40 miles per hour. temperatures falling, chilly on friday night and a brisk start to the weekend but the cold air will not stick around for too long. veteran's day, a quiet note and midday, the front will move across and the wind will be gusty, and if you have plans on
