police are investigating a possible hate crime this morning. a resident told officers he received two threatening letters on his doorstep, one thursday and the other friday. both contained profanity and racial slurs. the first was handwritten, the second typed. the police say the behavior does not reflect their values and won't be tolerated. two people in court this morning charged in connection with a hit-and-run and killed a bicyclist 19-year-old sicily minnesotafau is -- munfau is being charged in the death. the victim was riding his bike in a crosswalk when he was hit thursday night. he died later in the hospital. a man arrested in south carolina in connection with a murder in easton. the man from florida is due in south

list of charges in massachusetts. last tuesday two boys riding their bikes found daniel smith shot in a park. both easton and state police are still looking for a red mazda license plate number 372-qqk. it is a this man tells the boston globe he remembers taking a substance with his girlfriend before blacking out. emts were called to the home thursday where they found two adults unconscious the baby was also unresponsive and later died at the hospital. albert told the globe he made a mistake. so far police and prosecutors have said little about the case. police searching for two

good morning, jill. >> reporter: good morning, chris and kate. toyota will pay up to $3.4 billion to settle a class-action lawsuit. truck and suv owners say their vehicles lack adequate rust protection. court filings showed the settlement involved 1.5 million vehicles. american apparel applied for bankruptcy protection for the second time in just over a year. the retailer is struggling to compete against other teen retailers and competition. they are also reportedly looking for a buyer, but the company insists it will continue to make its clothing in the united states. and watching video on your phone won't gobble up as much data next year if you're an att customer. the videos also won't look as good. they by default will play lower video bands

back down to springfield we've dipped into the lower 20s this morning. skies clear, and we are in for plenty of sunshine today. the next chance of wet weather comes in tomorrow. there's a developing area of low pressure off the north carolina coastline. there are some downpours starting to blossom over the last several hours. today is dry, no problems. the clouds will increase as we head into the late evening hours and tomorrow morning rain is still to our south. i think there'll be a few showers along the south coast of new england, but most of the rain fills in by mid to late morning, and it's going to rain at a pretty good clip through tomorrow afternoon and for your evening drive. there may be some downpours embedded in there too. it looks like a wet day overall. have the umbrella or a rain coat with you tomorrow. the wind is going to be coming in off the ocean.

week, temperatures in the mid 50s, more clouds for the weekend, could be some showers by sunday. we have lots of construction this morning. northbound essex street ramp inside the tunnel is closed and then further up right lanes are closed at exit 28 for sullivan square. southbound right lane is closed on the connector, exit 26. and the public can weigh in on plans to bring helipad to boston. the city council is holding a hearing wednesday. they offered to help build the pad to lure general electric to here from connecticut. the city's last two helipads shut down in 1999. plans to construct a new one in 1998 were scrapped due to strong local opposition. >>cool way to get to work,

today. this could be the most expensive school ever in the state. according to the globe, the proposed cost at least $283 million. the options are build a new high school on the current site, build one at a new hole or renovate one and connect it to an existing building could soon disappear. out of town news has been a cambridge staple for decades but according to boston.com the lease is about to change. they are set to start a renovation of the area and plan to lease the spot starting in august of next year meaning the kiosk could close at any time. the lease is set to expire in january 2019.
