real deal. they evacuated the building, shutdown area only to find it was a hoax.>> students warned to stay way from the library at boston university. as heavily armed teams the police responded to what they thought was an active shooter. >> the call came from a male individual stating that he was barricaded inside room for 20 on the fourth floor. he mentioned the room a short time later the was another call that he had just shot a hostage inside that room.>> police a dispatcher engaged what they described as a male with an accent for 10 minutes. heightening the alarm.>> the last year or two we've had robo calls but this one was so genuine. >> this is the fourth floor of the library stacks of brooks --

police methodically searched through sixth floors before the all clear something they constantly . >> what we practice last month in a drill, the same exact building. it worked perfectly for us. the boston police, state police in brooklyn police>> it's a hoax that disrupted the campus. frustrating please as they try to identify the person behind the call.>> i always hate will we get these because you worry about a copycat. if we find out who did will prosecute them. >> police said the call was blocked so it's unclear if it was a local or even international call that it was unnerving for police and the campus.>> reporting live from bu. boston mayor joined us on set as the situation unfolded. he told us please have to be on guard in treat every threat seriously. >> women history of seeing

take it very seriously. we want to make sure the students are safe.>> the emergency certainly rattling students.>> reaction from students who watched all of this unfold.>> a very nerve- racking morning for students who had to evacuate the building. they also received emergency text alerts and some have classes canceled. we talked to students outside the building to describe what it was like anxiously waiting for answers and their reaction that this was all a hoax.>> it's nerve-racking especially with what's been going on with our country. it's been scary that there were dogs and ambulances. it's so crazy to think that how many people actually showed up to the scene with all the

or okay i think it's disturbing and it caused so much disruption to the city of boston.>> bu officials say the buildings are open and operating normally. many students that we talked to say they are grateful for the way police responded. boston university officials kept students updated on social media. they will continue to provide updates as they learn more about the hoax. breaking news in chelsea police are looking for this white minivan. they say and hit a 72-year-old woman on broadway and took off. victim had a cut to her for head and was taken to mgh. she is expected to be okay. the search is on for this band. if you have information you're asked to call chelsea police. a norton man will be arraigned this afternoon after firing at police. authorities say he barricaded

even fired shots at officers outside. he told authorities he had more than 500 rounds of ammunition. when he surrendered officers found several guns, ammunition and military style knives he's facing several charges including assault with attempt to murder. a cape cod team is being held accused of attacking a 14-year-old girl. smith -->> based on a vehicle description a sweatshirt described by witnesses and inconsistencies with the suspect and a reason for being in the area, they believe john allen is the person responsible for this alleged attack. he appeared in court moments ago. we will take you to video there. he is taken into custody and this is after a second call the judge ordered and his actual arraignment was in lockup. you will see him here.

stemming from a situation last thursday morning where bourne police say allen attacked a 14- year-old girl as she was on her way to school. according to witnesses a metallic blue infiniti g 35 was seen in the area days prior to the attack and the day of. alle prosecutors say a hooded sweatshirt described by witnesses was also found in his car. they also say that he made several inconsistent statements about his whereabouts and why he was in the area at that time. his defense attorney says the inconsistencies actually come from the witnesses who described a light blue car, a man who -- a man in his 30s with gray stubble on his face. they also say the alleged 14- year-old victim was unable to pick allen out from a photo array the judge did order and held -- allen held without bail pending the hearing. on the

more than 1100 people who bought tickets to the canceled boston grand prix race are getting refunds. the attorney general's office say that the money was returned and more payments are coming. they have set up a hotline for customers that buy tickets and have not gotten their money back yet.>> one grandmothers trouble with technology is bringing some new life into the family thanksgiving. >> it all started with the text that was old in arizona. the message asked him to dinner but he did not recognize the number so he responded by asking who is this like the sender replied your grandma. he was not sure so he asked the woman to send a picture and they realized they had the wrong people. he asked if he could come anyway.>> i went with my gut and i said sure. grandma's feed everybody.

contrast. you think with everything moving eastward that we might be up to 71 or 72 like it is in cleveland. we might have that tomorrow. it will not do that we will be in the 50s. we will have the cold air start rushing here. it will be 24 degrees in the middle part of the day in boston for the first part of next week. there will be some modification. it's really snowing hard on the coast appearing portions of minnesota. we see the big ocean storm and a slice of sunshine in the middle and we've got the clouds flirting with the the cape. the low clouds may be up problem on the coast. while inland it will be nice and sunday -- sunny. as that comes along it's got a pretty good shot of energy so it will kick off a batch of showers, rain showers on sunday morning and the colder air

western and northern new england as this thing winds up and gets a lot of energy from the atmosphere. closer inspection shows that the clouds may be breaking up somewhat on cape cod this afternoon and they will come right been -- right back in tonight. i would say on the i-95 corridor, west of that and farther north and west you are of the i-95 corridor the better chance you will see sunshine that if you are on southeastern massachusetts you will not see that. missed coming in tomorrow night but not much in the way of real rain until sunday morning we will get a batch of showers rolling through. the heavier store -- snow is going on in western new england a few inches and parts of western new england as we see it now. and parts of northern vermont in northern new hampshire may get more stood the snow. temperatures going up to 61 this afternoon but in the 50s tomorrow. the coastal clouds. we get showers sunday morning
