president vladimir putin come face-to-face. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. president-elect trump is back in new york this morning where he'll continue working to fill top posts in his administration. over the weekend, he spoke to a number of potential cabinet officials, friends, and foe. the details. >> reporter: president-elect donald trump assessed several more contenders for those posts including chris christie, rudy giuliani, and former krk mitt romney along with retired marine corps general james mattis who is in the lead for defense secretary. president-elect donald trump capped another high profile meetings in new jersey and more cabinet appointments to come. >> we have made a couple of

soon. >> reporter: among republican job-seekers who visited mr. trump on sunday was former new jersey govern chris christie. the former new york mayor rudy giuliani was under consideration for secretary of state. the president-elect is also considering former rival mitt romney for the post. the two spoke for over an hour saturday. >> i would tell you that it was -- it was not only a cordial meeting, but also it was a very >> reporter: many democrats remain concerned about those already offered key roles in trump's administration, including attorney general nominee jeff sessions. the alabama senator has been accused of making racially insensitive remarks in the past. >> he's going to need a very thorough vetting. many of those statements are old but still troubling. >> reporter: reince priebus >> this is an honorable, decent, good human being that we are talking about.

trump who repeatedly praised putin's strengths. in a formal meeting with chinese president xi jinping, mr. obama put an optimistic spin on cooperation between the two nations. the president said leaders from across the asia pacific had ski decided to move ahead. throughout his three-nation tour this week, the president has had to assure other world leaders >> people should take a wait and see approach in how much is policy proposals once in the white house, once he is sworn in, matches up with some of the rhetoric of his campaign. >> reporter: now the president suggested mr. trump may be willing to adjust current trade deals and that the world should give the president-elect time to develop his policies.

obama's foreign policy achievements over the past eight years, could be erased. errol barnett, cbs news, lima, peru. police in san antonio, texas, are looking for a suspect in the deadly shooting of a police officer. detective benjamin marco on ni was sitting in his squad car yesterday morning outside of police headquarters. he was writing a ticket when another driver pulled over, walked up to marconi and shot him twice in the head. information regarding the murder. they are also looking for a black car in connection with the murder. police in st. louis shot and killed a suspect who ambushed one of their officers. the suspect had opened fire on police. the officer who was shot was sitting in traffic last night when a car pulled up next to him and a gunman started shooting. the officer was hit twice in the face, but is expected to survive. demonstrators protesting the dakota access pipeline clashed

400 demonstrators who tried to cross a bridge on a state highway. at least one protester was arrested. the pipeline is being built to carry oil in north dakota to illinois. opponents fear a leak could contaminate drinking water. a storm system has moved into the northeast bringing cold temperatures and heavy snow. the heaviest hit down wind from lake ontario and some in new york reported 15 inches of snow. in winter storm warnings are posted in parts of new york and vermont. in california, the issue is heavy rain. flooding is a possibility in southern california. flash flood warnings have been issued for wildfire burn areas. the storm has the potential to be the largest in the area this fall. northern california is also being hit by rain. workers at chicago's o'hare airport say they will walk off the job this thanksgiving holiday.

"wall street journal" notes that beasty boy horowitz vandalism in new york city yesterday. the park is named after horowitz late band mate adam yalk. the "chicago tribune" reports on that teenagers are accused of murdering a 15-year-old grandson. police say the 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy killed javon wilson on friday during an argument over borrowed shoes. he was the grandson of representative danny davis.
