received life-threatening injuries on morrissey boulevard just north of freeport start this morning. we're told the other driver involved in the crash was also injured and taken to the hospital. we'll keep you updated on the story as more information becomes available. a woman was found dead inside a mattapan apartment and three children were also found inside alive. this morning wbz's shante lands has the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: we've unexplained death at this time to a young person. boston police on the scene at this apartment complex 3:30 saturday afternoon they received a call from a neighbor of forced entry. when they arrived they found a woman in her late 20s, early 30s dead. three young children all under age four were also inside. >>it's unfortunate. the children have been taken to the hospital and we're waiting to

it's a death investigation right now. >> reporter: the victim's family forced her way inside her apartment to check on her. right now detective don't suspect foul play. >>it's a tragedy, but i'm hoping it's more of a sudden death, but we won't know that until we investigate further. >> reporter: the identity of the woman has not yet been released. outside of boston, shante lands, wbz this morning. police in braintree need 17-year-old girl. officers say ivy coolis disappeared from the hyatt hotel on friday and may need medical attention. police say she is mentally and disabled and diabetic without her medication. if you've seen her or know where she is, call braintree police. a child is in the hospital after a two-car crash in carver. the 8-year-old was airlifted to a hospital in rhode island.

saturday afternoon. a horrific hit-and-run caught on camera outside a brockton bar. a driver slams into a man tossing him into the air and speeds away. wbz's jim smith has the story. >> reporter: busy traffic on north main street in brockton obscures the road, but if you look closely, you can see some spray painted markers, a grim reminder of what happened here early friday morning. it was past closing time and with some friends. when he got to the street, everything changed. this surveillance video shows what happened. you can see a car approaching man. we are not showing what happened next because it's too graphic. but an instant later, he was hit and thrown into the air and badly injured. the car kept going and left the scene. you can see people running over to try to help. the owner of the bar gave police the video.

we were very forthright with that. i'm in constant communication with them. we hope that this guy can make it. it was a bad impact as you probably all have seen the video. >> reporter: the man was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to boston where he is in bad shape. saturday night police towed a vehicle, a vehicle they believe may have been involved. the victim is described as a brockton man around 25 who also has family living out of the country. those relatives are said to be >>this is a main street, and people don't really abide bit speed limits here. >> reporter: the owner of the bar says the traffic situation here is so treacherous his security staff will act as crossing guards with flashlights helping people across this busy street during nighttime hours of operation. at last report police tell us that the condition of this victim is extremely critical.

stories for you. police have not released the name of a woman found dead inside of an apartment where children were also found inside alive. all three of those kids in the bismarck street home are under the age of four and are getting checkth out at the hospital. police haven't said if the dead woman is the mother of those children and they haven't said either whether or not it is foul play. right now they believe she is not the victim of a crime although her dea vehicle that may have been involved in a hit-and-run in brockton. it happened early friday morning as the man was leaving the spot bar and lounge with friends. this surveillance video was given to police which shows the impact but we are not going to show it because it is very graphic. the man was thrown into the air and badly injured. witnesses say the car never stopped. one ticket has hit the

reported that newton mayor warren who has announced he's not running for mayor is fund raising for you in 2018. he's hired john walsh one of the key architects of the victory over to you in 2010. what recommends you to the voters over mayor warren? >> i'm just going to concentrate on my day job which is what i've been doing for the past two years. it's a job that i really enjoy and appreciate the fact that that really has been our focus as an administration. i hear that all of the time when i'm out and about the fact that we just really seem to want to focus on the work is something people appreciate especially given the political season that just ended and the lieutenant governor and i have talked about the fact at some point down the road we'll get into that conversation but for the time being we'll focus on our day job.

of you following at home. >> what have you learned from the pacing you took of the lifting of the ballot question. >> first of all i was pleased to support making sure that we do everything we can to make sure families here in the commonwealth of mass wherever you live have access to the kind of education that works for you and your kids and i think the big lesson i took from that is there are a lot of people in massachusetts who were worry about th issue. and that is certainly something we have to consider but by big issue is that was nine communities that reached the cap which meant that charter schools were very popular with the people in those communities and we need to continue to work on programs and opportunities to improve the quality of schools everywhere. we've been aggressive about supporting our vocational and technical schools and work with

government around leadership because up in lawrence jeff reilly has proven leadership can be a big success in urban education, locker school days and i think we need to take a look at some of the stuff like opportunity zones they are doing in springfield middle schools which seem to be pretty successful. >> we know from past experience the massachusetts teacher's association the largest teacher union, hates charter schools and wants them gone could. they've never cooperated with the concept of charter schools and have seized every opportunity they could to rid of them. are they now pushing further in your view? >> again a lot of people in massachusetts about 40,000 kids in charter schools whose families are very happy with them and this ballot question was about nine communities where the cap had been reached. >> but if the voters don't really care or don't care

back the teacher unions on this why wouldn't they back them on going any further? >> well i think it would be very difficult for people to take away something that's worked so well for so many kids in cities around the commonwealth. i mean between the graduation rates and success rates and the performance of a lot of these schools and kids that are in them on some of our standardized testing demonstrates that a lot of kids they work and i would cenl opportunities away from people and i know there are hoof people on beacon hill who would join me on that one. we need to come up with other strategies to improve the schools period especially in urban centers. >> on that note we'll take a quick break and when we

education reform movements here in massachusetts going forward? >> well i don't know that much about betsy, but if you think about john king who is a current secretary of education under barrack obama he started one of the charter schools here in boston very interested in urban education, always has been. arnie duncan who was the previous secretary of education was the superintendant of schools in the city of chicago. >> they talked a what have they delivered for us. >> they managed to create a pretty big incentive for states like ours and we did expand the cap we had at that point on charter schools in massachusetts. my guess is she will focus on urban education because that has been where most of the folks who are interested in the reform movement spend most of their time and frankly that's where the best opportunity is. if you think about massachusetts our suburban

and we have a bunch of terrific schools in our cities as well but everybody would agree the place where we need to do more is in the cities and that's where they'll come at it at the federal level as well. >> let's squeeze in questions about transportation. i understand there's progress you are going to be announcing this coming week about the- -what do you call it, the ride share-- >> transportation--t nc. >> another acre anymore r to try to remember. what's up. >> this is the uber and lyft stuff. >> right. >> when we started talking to them after the new legislation passed creating safety and insurance standard ears and market leveling standards. >> background checks on drivers, all that stuff, yup. >> and the good news is we will be signing an mou. >> memorandum of understanding for you fans. >> an agreement with the folks

checks and getting them all done so that over the course of the next few months we'll be able to process all of the drivers through that background check process and then weed out ones we need to weed out based on the standards and it is in fact in some respects the most comprehensive standard for this in the country and will happen a lot faster than it might have otherwise. >> are you go to apply the same approach merchants? >> we've had conversations with folks on the legislative side about this and they've had conversations with the yes folks and even people who supported the yes thing said the legislation had work in it that needed to be fixed and looking forward to hearing from the legislation. i'm seeing all of this push back by the union.

at a recent rally pushing back on your privacy efforts. is the legislature still behind you or do you have concerns about the politics of all of this. >> i think the legislature has seen a lot of progress. many leaders have told me they've seen more progress in the past couple of years on reforming some of what i call the out dated practices of the tees they saw at any time previous and despite all of the noise good working relationship about most of the unions there including the carommen's union and two other things for you to know. number one there are more bus drivers. >> union bus drivers. >> you never know that just follow the news and the media but we've also through mostly modernizing corporate we've saved $63 million on the
