nbc 10 breaking news. we're following this breaking news out of camden county. a 13-year-old girl shot a couple of hours ago as a bullet went inside her home. we're live on the scene with details. tears and questions. the father of two of the four children who were killed in that horrible weekend fire wants to know if everything possible was done to save his boys. and a live look now down the shore, cape may, a quiet cape may on this post-fourth of july monday here after a spectacular weekend, the heat is on. the temperatures expect to hit the 90s today. good morning, everyone. this is nbc 10 news today on this monday, i'm chris cato. let's get to meteorologist bill henley with his first alert forecast. bill, it was a great fourth weekend, wasn't it. >> it worked out nicely, yes.

we'll see sunshine again today. temperatures in the 80s over the weekend but things will be a little warmer today. we're starting off with clouds overhead. it will take some time for them to clear but clear they will. that's a view of center city from the adventure aquarium. 75 in northeast philadelphia, 70s north and west, allentown, pottstown, millville, all at 72 degrees right now. stand by for a hot one today. clouds to start with but then the clouds thin out. we'll get more and more sunshine. look at the warmup, near 80 degrees at 9:00 and then into the upper 80s and climbing at lunch time today. hour-by-hour forecast when i come back. >> we are starting this monday morning with a problem on the northeast extension, shortly after midnight there was a serious accident that happened on the northbound side just as you approach lansdale. crews are still out there doing an investigation. stick to route 309 as your

alternate. this is a look at 95 at girard avenue southbound. clearly the long-term construction zone is not impacting traffic out there. we're not seeing a delay. average speeds across the board in the 50s and 60s if you can see on majors there. chris? let's get back to that breaking news out of camden county in what appears to be a horrible accident. a 13-year-old girl is being treated for a gunshot wound, hit by a stray bullet inside her home. jesse gary live on the scene. jesse, what's happening? >> investigators with winslow township police are processing the scene. heywood lane, let's take a look at the video. a 911 call brought medics and police to hathaway drive this morning. initial police conversations are that a teenage girl inside the

house was hit by a stray bullet. at least 11 shell casings were recovered near the intersection of hathaway lane. the prosecutors office will release details later this morning. we spoke to some neighbors. one told me she first thought it was fire crackers, fireworks from the fourth of july, then it sounded like gunshots, more of them coming closer to her window. we'll talk and hear from her coming up in the next half hour. we're live in winslow township, camden county. more breaking news in the newsroom, just getting word from overseas here, more than 60 women and grls reportedly have escaped from that nigerian terrorist group, boko haram. the girls and women were among a group of 68 abducted last month. reports say the women escaped when the militants were trying to attack a military base on

friday. boko haram is still holding more than 200 school girls abducted in april. new from overnight, one person is dead when one car crashed into a wall at juniata. he lost control of the car and slammed into a street department. the car was absolutely mangled. the driver was killed. firefighters had to cut a passenger out of the car. he's in critical but stable condition. philadelphia police are looking for a gunman in a deadly shooting that happened around midnight in dara and dire streets. at least 15 rounds were fired. the 25-year-old victim was hit several times and died at the hospital. today the philadelphia fire commissioner will return to the block where a fire killed four children on saturday to hand out smoke detectors. last night, for the first time we heard from the father of the two boys who died in that fire early saturday morning when

flames tore through eight row homes. the father of the two boys says he doesn't believe firefighters responded quickly enough. >> the fire commissioner said rs fire station which is located about one block away arrived in three minutes but by then, four homes were already on fire. investigators are trying to determine how it started but witnesses tell us they heard fire crackers go off just before the porch of one of those homes caught fire. investigators in trenton are blaming a faulty electrical cord for starting a fire there. firefighters were called out to grand street around :00 yesterday morning. the fire started on the second floor of one home and quickly spread to two more. fires had it under control in

kind of hard to believe. 19 train cars jumped the trucks, sending these fuselages into a river. no one was hurt. railroad officials say the removal process is extremely slow. the derailment is under investigation but speed does not appear to be an issue at this point. well, a fireworks store went up in flames in northern tennessee. look at this. heavy smoke prompted authorities to close a nearby highway. the store was heavily damaged but no one was hurt. no word yet on what started the fire. thor th . more than 100,000 people are expected to mark the start of ramadan. ramadan began on june 28age and ends july 28th. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. humidity is rising, clouds

hours ago. crews are doing their investigation. take route 309. it runs parallel to the northeast extension. as far as that construction goes we're following some on route 202 southbound in chester county. route 29 off ramp is closed off as a result of that long-term project out there. it's been out there for a while. 422, in the clear completely as you can see in both directions. that's the eastbound side as drivers pass route 29. the vote is in for the title of greatest man in pennsylvania's history and the results may make you chuckle. plus, a journey around the world and back for a lost cell phone. coming up, how it finally ended up back in the right hands.

disappointment part two for folks in cape may. the fireworks were canceled for a second time. there were big crowds in cape may gathered last night hoping for a show in the sky. the fireworks originally scheduled for friday night were postponed because of hurricane arthur. they were supposed to happen last night but that show was abruptly canceled. officials in cape may will only tell us it was because of weather conditions. according to a new poll, philadelphia native bill cosby is the second greatest pennsylvanian. benjamin franklin took the top spot. franklin was born in boston. cosby beat out betsy ross, daniel boone and william penn. chase utley is popular with baseball fans. he'll represent the phillies in the major league all-star game. chase utley will start at second base for the n.l. squad next week in minnesota.
