>> it was a beautiful day. that was yesterday. today you can feel the difference this morning, the humidity has already moved into the area. it's going to stay steamy during the day. yesterday, we were in the upper 80s, low humidity, so nice at the shore where the temperatures warmed into the low 80s. but it's going to be steamy all around, including cape may. it is dry, no showers, just temperatures that are running 5 to 12 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. 74 currently in philadelphia. 69 in pottstown, millville is 71 degrees. the numbers will be climbing. we'll see sunshine to start with, bright sunshine after these low clouds over the city clear. humid conditions, 72 degrees at 7:00. 76 at 9:00 and then we're into the 80s, a steamier afternoon. 84 will feel like it's 88 degrees at lunch time today. hour by hour forecast with a chance of showers. that's when i come back. first, jillian mele has traffic. >> good morning, following construction we have road work on 95, the northbound side out

near route 420. we're following some road work on 295 northbound near the 42 freeway. the left lane is blocked and is expected to be blocked until about 6:00 this morning. average speeds on the pages across the area, looking pretty good. in the mid-50s, 55 is what we're seeing on 76. right near belmont avenue. as i mention we are following that construction on 95. i'll keep you update on that. we had construction overnight on 6 eastbound near the vine street expressway. that just cleared in the last few minutes. chris? ç this morning, we're remembering a comedy legend. celebrities and fans across the world are mourning loss of joan rivers. nbc 10's christine maddela is live with more. >> joan rivers died yesterday, chris, at the age of 81 years old, one week after she went into the hospital, into a doctor's office for a routine procedure. she went into cardiac arrest. her daughter melissa said she

was surrounded by friends and family and close friends. she entertained us for 5 years as a standup comic, late-night talk show host and hollywood fashion critic. locally she sold a successful line of clothing, jewelry and accessories on the qvc shopping network based on westchester. she always kept a busy schedule. she even worked the day before her surgery. out in hollywood, there are tributes to rivers. on the hollywood walk of fame there's a wreath of flowers placed on rivers' star. the ceo of the hollywood chamber of commerce, who oversees the walk of fame called her an icon. ellen degeneres tweeted, joan rivers will always be an icon. kathy griffin, a ledge en, friend, mentor, an icon, and

wildly funny. funeral services will be held on sunned in new york city. reporting live in the digital operations center, christine madde maddela, nbc 10 news. she went to yorkville e endoscopy for a procedure on her vocal chords. she was scheduled to perform a show in north jersey the next day. for more on that investigation and a look back at joan rivers' life and legacy and a photo gallery of her career, logon to nbc10.com. new from overnight, philadelphia fire crews had to put outç an underground fire i center city. it broke out around midnight. it's not a transformer fire. crews checked lines for possible damage in the area. there were no reported power outages. now to the growing casino crisis

in atlantic city. this morning we're hearing of more possible layoffs and another casino in financial trouble, this time as the trump taj mahal. the taj says notices may be sent out to employees in the near future. the casino says if it doesn't start making more money it could be in trouble. "the new york post" is reporting the taj is head for bankruptcy court unless it can quickly reach a deal with its lenders. trump plaza says it may keep its internet gambling operation up and running. in a petition to casino regulators, officials with trump entertainment said they are weighing options when it comes to seeking permission to keep the internet gambling license. an atlantic city casino that's already closed may be going back to court. revel closed on tuesday morning. we brought you that live. the hq nightclub and the hq beach club which are both inside revel want to stay up. lawyers filed documents with the u.s. bankruptcy court seeking an injunction to keep those clubs

up and running. the owners say they are the right to continue operating the businesses. today the aunt and boyfriend of the philadelphia woman accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl are expected to take the stand to testify. prosecutors claim christina regusters boyfriend lived in the house where that young girl was held captive. in court yesterday, forensic experts say christina regusters' dna was found on the t-shirt she was wearing when she was found. regusters worked at the child care center where the girl attended. the judge warned regusters if she had another outburst in court like she did two days ago, she'll have to watch the proceedings from a video feed. more budget cut means fewer security guards for philadelphia katy zachry is with us. >> reporter: chief inspector

carl holmes has a long history with the philadelphia police department. yesterday he was not shy about admitting that this year their resources are less than last year but he says he's confident he and his police officers can keep things just as safe. now when the school year starts on monday, they will be down 40 officers from this time last year. the district is operating with an $80 million budget deficit. there's no extra money to fill those positions. he says that schools will be sharing officers and at the city's high schools, they've had to take away some officers to put them in other buildings. do parents have reason to worry about their kid's safety. >> parents always have reason to wo worry. >> is it different this year? >> our resources are less, however, we're just as vigilant about protecting those children as we were in previous years. >> chief holmes talks about a

quakertown down to 64 degrees currently. 72 in middletown, delaware, vineland is 70 degrees. mount holly, clayton, swedesboro in the upper 60s right now. we'll be watching the satellite imagery. you can see the low clouds in the area to start with. we'll see sunshine to warm us up quickly. we may also see, thanks to the high humidity, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. the humidity will keep pumping into ñ area today and again tomorrow. could lead to some storms during the afternoon hours. this morning, though, we'll watch the clouds thin out and the temperatures take off. by 11:00 this morning, low 80s for northeast philadelphia. philadelphia international and wilmington and then as we go into the afternoon hours, you can see the threat of showers at 1:00 this afternoon, scattered light showers for doylestown and into pottstown. during the later afternoon hours, showers and possibly thunderstorms with heavy downpours at 5:00. that drops the temperatures north and west and will drop the

this morning, police are looking for this man. they say he could be in this area with his son after a quadruple murder in florida. he's a person of interest in the killing of two women and two men in the tampa area. police found their bodies yesterday. that's when they discovered the 4-year-old boy missing. investigators say this mercer county woman tried to get away after crashing into two vehicles and assaulting an officer in bucks county. police took 19-year-old sara culhane into custody yesterday. she refused to stop after hitting a vehicle in bensalem. according to officers, she then

hit another car. she jumped out of the car and ran away. they eventually caught her. gloucester township police say two kids were playing outside on monroe drive yesterday when the vehicle stopped, the driver motioned for the kids to come over. the kids did the right thing and ran into a house to tell a parent. the vehicle isç described as a white suv with gray trim an a den the in the door. caln township officers were responding to a burglary at the sneaker den in thorndale wednesday. they found their suspect behind the store, chased him on to nearby tracks. one of the officers and the suspect got into a fight as a train was coming.

they were pulled off the tracks just before the train sped by. healthcare.gov website was hacked. the official says the server did not contain any personal information and no data was transmitted outside the agency. this morning, the third american infected with the ebola virus in africa is expected to arrive at a facility in nebraska for treatment. 51-year-old dr. rick sacra has been in isolation. he's heading to the nebraska medical center in omaha where he'll receive treatment in a specialized isolation unit. >> i just had a call from the doctor who put rick on a plane to come to the united states. and he said that rick is clearly sick but that he was in very good spirits. >> more than 3600 people have been infected with ebola in west

africa during this outbreak. more than 1,500 have died. in delaware, health officials confirmed a second case of chicken gunnia virus. the cdc says a woman from new castle county contracted that virus last month. she was treated at a hospital an real estate leased. officials say that woman and a man who got sick in july both caught the virus while traveling to the caribbean. a new report shows pennsylvania and delaware have some of the worst obesity rates in america. delaware has the 13th highest rate, pennsylvania comes in at 19. on the other hand, new jersey rates in the country at 39. the rates have gone up in all three states over the past few years. in case you're wondering, mississippi and west virginia tied for the highest rates. colorado has the lowest. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> bright sunshine, yesterday in the 80s and the humidity was so low through the day. but this morning, the humidity

is back. no wind right now. we are seeing a few clouds overhead but we'll see the clouds thin out. a little bit of a breeze will develop out of the south. that's going to bring the temperatures up. it's already started at philadelphia international, southeasterly wind at 6 miles an hour, humidity at 93%. that's a lot higher than it was yesterday. temperatures are going to stay warmer during the day. we got 60s for pottstown and doylestown, trenton is 71 right now. while it's 73 at philadelphia international. gloucester county, we reach into the low 70s for swedesboro along raccoon creek. 68 degrees and 69 in washington township. while clayton is also 69 degrees. the clouds will thin out. you can see, if you look close, you can see some of the thin cloudiness. sunshine will warm us up. we'll be watching for showers as we go into the afternoon. storms erupting over northern michigan. that's a possibility late this afternoon, even more likely as

the ceremony will take place during evening mass at the basilica of st. peter and paul. a father and son are charged with selling fake sports jerseys out of bucks county. detectives say neil robinson and his son shawn operated that counterfeit ring from bensalem. they're accused of importing thousands of phony jerseys from china and selling those online. investigators say this started in 2007 and they got a break in the case when neil robinson sold three corporate fit jerseys to an undercover officer. the ncaa slapped the university of connecticut with a secondary violation of recruiting rules.

davis said on camera she wanted to play basketball for uconn someday. the coach called her up to congratulate here during a two-minute phone call. a secondary violation usually doesn't include any official penalties but the ncaa will make a decision on that later. jackie robinson, little league in chicago getting big bucks now. dick's sporting goods will donate more than $164,000 to the league. that money is profit from jackie robinson west t-shirt sales. jackie robinson beat the philadelphia team during the little league world series in williamsport. the governor's office in delaware is apologizing for accidentally tweeting a racy photo to their followers. the picture shows a woman in a suggestive pose wearing what appears to be bondage gear. it was attached to a tweet from governor markell from one of his staffers as the governor announced a new $5 million plan
