>> especially considering yesterday temperatures were above average. more humidity. more sunshine for us and temperatures staying below average staying in the 70s. it's going to be a nice way to end your workweek. closer look at right-now temperatures. we're going to see mostly clear skies. partly cloudy skies right now. 53 degrees in the poconos. 58 in allentown. 67 this morning in philadelphia. 66 in wilmington. temperatures in dover at 69. temperatures ranging between 74 and 77 degrees. we'll see more sun to the north and not a chance of rain for today. we'll have a chance as we head back into the weekend. i'll let you know what to expect in my seven-day forecast. for now we'll check in with jillian for a look at traffic. >> no accidents to report on the highways once again to start this day. this is a live look at construction that we're following in chester county. southbound side of route 202.

you can see the left lane is restricted that continues out to route 29. no delays to report on 202. a few spots of construction westbound near bensalem and near 476. two lanes are blocked in that area and then we're following construction on the boulevard. northbound side as you approach byberry road. we're following breaking news out of the midwest. a convicted killer who escaped from this prison in northwestern ohio has been captured. 19-year-old t.j. lane escaped from that prison last night. officials have not said how he did it. they also haven't said how he was recaptured other than saying he was apprehended without incident around 1:00 a.m. in 2012, lane shot to death three students inside this high school near cleveland. in court he said he didn't know why he did it. he was given three life sentences. he's been recaptured. happening right now, the judge in the oscar pistorius trial is still reading her

verdict after finding pistorius yesterday not guilty of murder but saying he was negligent in his girlfriend's shooting death. this is video here of pistorius arriving at that courthouse just moments ago. nbc 10's tracy davidson is live in our digital operation center watching what's happening across the world this morning. what's next for pistorius now? >> so the judge is continuing to read her conclusions and then we'll know what's in support for oscar pistorius. within the last ten minutes the judge declared him not guilty on an unrelated shooting that came up during this trial. that's the first not guilty verdict for an unrelated shooting. there are other firearm offenses against him as well. even though the judge said pistorius is not guilty of murder and that was yesterday. she did say he was negligent which means he could still be convicted for killing of his girlfriend, reeva steenkamp. yesterday the judge said pistorius used excessive force

laying groundwork for conviction of culpable murder charge similar to manslaughter in the united states. he shot and killed his girlfriend because he thought she was an intruder. he faces separate firearms and ammunition offenses. if found guilty of these offenses, a later date will be set for sentencing. we'll continue to monitor the courtroom. tracy davidson, nbc 10 news. >> we're watching a courtroom here in philadelphia where the jury will resume deliberations today after spending about five hours behind closed doors yesterday. the woman charged with kidnapping a 5-year-old girl from her school and sexually assaulting her. jesse gary, during the first day of deliberating yesterday, the jurors sent the judge a note asking a question. tell us about that. >> reporter: the panel wanted to see a statement that she gave

after her arrest but the judge ruled that evidence was not provided as direct evidence but rather through testimony. he told the panel to rely on their memory. jurors consider six charges. prosecutors say she butt on a burqa, abducted a 5-year-old girl from her west philadelphia school and sexually assaulted the little girl. tom klein represents the family in a civil lawsuit and isn't bound by a gag order in this criminal case. >> those crimes ranging from rape to endangerment of a child are all separate individual crimes with individual element that the commonwealth to prove to them beyond a reasonable doubt. >> reporter: the defense is raising doubts that she's the villain in this case. i'll explain more coming up at 4:30. stopping isis.

that's the promise secretary of state john kerry got from key arab allies during a meeting in saudi arabia yesterday. ten arab nations pledged to stop the flow of fighters and funding to the islamic state militants. they also agree to join the u.s. led military campaign and new this morning australia raised its threat level from medium to high because of the isis movement. officials point to australians having moved to fight with isis in iraq. rice told nfl commissioner roger goodell in april that he punched his girlfriend. this contradicts goodell's statement. the nfl launched an investigation into handling of its matter. the league said findings will be made public. look at this. some female football fans actually wore their support for ray rice before last night's ravens game in baltimore.

several women were spotted wearing replicas of rice's jersey. they set up an exchange program who no longer support their former running back. out of our delaware bureau, delaware would be the next state to be infected with enterovirus. it has sickened hundreds of kids across the country. >> reporter: we're getting new information about those kids who were tested. in terms of their age, they range in age from younger to 1 year old to 14 year old. of 12 tested, 10 live in new castle county. the centers for disease control is testing for enterovirus. it resembles the common cold at first but then becomes a serious

respiratory illness. infan infants, children and teens are most likely to get infected. the majority of children hospitalized with enterovirus 68 have a history of asthma or wheezing. >> there's no vaccine for enterovirus and no specific treatment. prevention is key. >> reporter: we'll hear more from dr. yeh in the next hour. you should keep your hands clean. also cleaning surfaces often touched by people and if your kids do exhibit signs of a cold sickness, keep them home from school or day care especially this time of year. reporting live, katy zachry, nbc

10 news. >> and in montgomery county, kids are being warned of a case of whooping cough at a local high school. a student is being treated for whooping cough. a warning letter went out to families yesterday. happening today also in montgomery county, the introduction of a new drug overdose task force in montgomery county. we're told the goal of this program is to prevent life threatening overdoses from prescription drugs and heroin. last year 45 people died from heroin overdose in montgomery county. the miss america preliminary competition is over and miss pennsylvania won the talent competition with her performance of wishing you were somehow here again from phantom of the opera. 53 contestants are competing for the crown. good morning. as we head into the end of your workweek, we'll see a nice day today. by nice i mean cooler temperatures, less humid. we're tracking the chances of

weekend rain and also cooling down even more as we head into the rest of your weekend. for philadelphia, 67 degrees right now. our humidity is at 66%. wind speeds out of the north at 9 miles per hour and through rest of the area we're ranging in the 50s for allentown and pottstown. low 60s in trenton. 69 in dover. and 66 in wilmington. it is a mild start when you head out the door. we won't warm up as much as we did yesterday. look at how cool the temperatures are across the nation. if we stretch back to denver, only 34 degrees right now. 33 in billings. and temperatures in the 50s here in des moines. and then closer to home we're in the 60s but as we push into the rest of today, we'll stay below average and that will be true heading into tomorrow. our satellite radar shows quiet radar right now. we're checking out a few isolated showers mainly south of our area. pushing into the rest of today, more sunshine than we saw yesterday and then clouds will

increase heading into saturday and by saturday at 1:00 we're going to be dealing with a chance of rain from the poconos down to allentown and even into reading by 4:00. some of the heaviest rainfall will be just to the north of philadelphia stretching out to trenton. clearing up as we push into the rest of your saturday night and sunday looks nice as well. so sunday is probably the better day of the two days but our temperatures are expected to drop back down. today we range between 74 and 77 degrees. cooler and less humid with more sun to the south. wind speeds out of the north 5 to 10 miles an hour. coming up, i'll have your seven-day forecast. >> now at 4:11, let's get a check on traffic. jillian mele will tell us if there's anything out there to slow us down. >> overnight construction on the blue route on the northbound side near route 30. the blue route is dark. it's quiet. that construction has wrapped up for the morning. that's definitely a bit of good news. blue route is clear. this is ben franklin bridge.

the view from philadelphia. you're not seeing too much activity out there right now. we've had some construction out there all week long on the westbound side. later in the morning i anticipate seeing that again. it's a good time to utilize any of the area bridges. we're not reporting any incidents at all. we're watching construction right now route 130 near route 173 in both directions right lane is blocked right now and that's expected to be blocked until 6:00 this morning. chris? unrest in a final resting place. the addition that appears to be headed to a local cemetery and opponents say it just doesn't belong here. and new video of a scare at the white house yesterday on 9/11. it's what the culprit was car carrying that had authorities scratching their heads.

we're following breaking news out of south africa. in the past few minutes a judge found oscar pistorius guilty of negligently shooting a gun in a restaurant. a live picture of the courtroom here. this guilty plea is unrelated to the shooting death of his girlfriend. earlier he was found not guilty of an unrelated shooting charge. he's been found guilty of shooting a gun in a restaurant unrelated to killing of his girlfriend. we still don't know what type of prison sentence, if any, that particular charge would carry and we're waiting to hear the official verdict from the shooting death of reeva steenkamp. jed yesterday a judge said he couldn't be found guilty of murder in her death. happening today, a man who beat up and robbed a temple university professor on campus is scheduled to be sentenced. darryl moon pleaded guilty

earlier this month. police say moon roughed up the man and held a knife to his throat and took his wallet. from our delaware bureau this morning, plans are moving forward to build a cell phone tower on a cemetery in wilmington. dozens of residents turned out last night for land use meeting. the 140-foot cell tower will be disguised as a bell tower. some people not very happy about this. they said the tower will just not fit in with the surrounding community. >> i think our biggest concern is the proximitiy of it tower. it will be 14 stories tall. >> there's a picture of what this cell tower will look like. officials voted in favor of the tower which the cellular company said will fill a gap in service in that area. from our south jersey bureau, a man is accused of sexual assaulting children at a

day care run by his wife. dennis alston is accused of assaulting two children. police were called after children told their parents that alston forced them to perform sex acts. at a day care center in north jersey, children are okay after drinking from a pitcher filled with cleaning fluid. a substitute teacher aid served the kids from that pitcher that contained water and bleach. the children were check ee eed t a nearby hospital and are okay. three infants were found inside a fill y filthy house. the woman is facing charges. autopsies are being performed to figure out how and when those babies died. fire crews say they could be on the scene of this massive factory fire in connecticut for

days putting out hot spots. the multialarm fire hit a recycled perfume plant which led to several explosions. hundreds of people were evacuated. 1,500 lost power. the secret service arrested a man after he jumped over the fence at the white house and the man was holding a pokeyman doll at the time. a lava flow on the big island of hawaii is now inching closer to homes this morning. the flow from the volcano could reach a subdivision within a week and a fear that it could cover the island's main highway so crews are preparing some alternate routes just in case. and look at this. heavy flooding led to this scene on camera near memphis, tennessee. a man barely escaping from his rapidly sinking car. he was pulled to safety just seconds to spare before his car

was submerged. residents have been evacuated from at that area of tennessee. look at this wild weather. snow on the ground already in parts of south dakota up to two inches fell in rapid city. this is the earlier measurable snowfall there since records began being kept in 1888. hopefully the snow will melt with temperatures hitting into the 60s over the weekend. good morning. as we end your workweek, temperatures today staying in the 70s below average of 80 degrees. it will be a cool, mild friday. we're tracking weekend rain and temperatures drop down even more into the weekend. we have a taste of fall. feels like it is here. for philadelphia, we're at 67 degrees. mostly clear skies. humidity at 66% and then also our wind speeds out of the north at 9 miles per hour. throughout the rest of the area, temperatures this morning in the poconos at 53 degrees.

58 in allentown. we're at 67 in atlantic city. same thing in philadelphia. 66 in wilmington. a closer look at cooler temperatures across the nation here. i just want to point out denver one of the coldest spots on the map at 34 degrees. billings at 33. the cool air is starting to invade parts of our country. a closer look at our radar shot, we are seeing quiet conditions but clouds are starting to clear. the only thing we have to show you in terms of rainfall is to the south of our area. we'll fly you back toward denver and you can see on the back end of the system we're seeing a little bit of snowfall even so it's pretty early for the season to see all that snow. our future weather shows that as we head into the rest of today, we'll see plenty of sunshine but then if you look at saturday, clouds will continue to increase and chance of rain by 2:00 p.m. for poconos, allentown and reading. that's where it will be the heaviest. light rain near philadelphia. we'll continue to see rain coming down closer to 5:00.
