brittney shipp in the "first alert" forecast. >> temperature it's in mid-70s it's a cool start with conditions starting off in the 40s and 50s. 48 in pottstown. 58 in philadelphia. 53 degrees in wilmington. 50 degrees currently in atlantic city. 40 degrees in the poconos. so is a cold start, depending on where you are. make sure you grab a jacket before you head out the door. but it's still going to be a fantastic thursday. temperatures range between 73 and 76 degrees. i'm tracking down a cooldown and a last-minute summer warmup. there's a lot going on with temperatures to let you know what's coming up in the seven-day forecast forecast. let's check in with christine. >> good morning, brittney. not a lot going on on the roads and that's good news for

drivers. take a look at i-95 on the southbound side. just a heads-up between the blue route and the commodore barry bridge. that's a construction project go be on there, it's really not slowing anything down because there's not a lot of volume on the roads and not a lot of folks on the road on another part of 95. this is southbound near cottman avenue and that long-term construction project. this is one of our problem areas in the morning commute but this hour, we are problem-free. same thing for the ben franklin bridge. take a look at your drive times no major delays anywhere in our area. hopefully, it stays that way, chris. we are following developments in the beating of a gay couple in philadelphia. police have seen people in this video here, persons of interest after walking down center street after that attack happened thursday night. they gave investigators their version of what happened.

katy zachry, a bit of a different story from the alleged attackers, right? >> reporter: that's right, chris, we've been in touch with several lawyers represent something of the persons of interest and those lawyers say it actually was the victims who threw the first punch. but that's heart to believe, take a look at the video when you see the extent of the pictures of one of the victims who has a black eye and had to have his jaw wired shut. police say two gay men thursday night in center city and beat them after the couple admit they had were gay. last night, a man showed up to give police a statement. he is the fourth person to do so since the surveillance video and knew the attack has gone viral. we've also learned that some of in this group graduated from archbishop wood high school and one of the men is actually contracted as an assistant

basketball coach and has been fired, let go, rather, in light of this beating. coming up, we talked to a friend of the two victims of the two men who were brutally beaten in center city one week ago tonight. and she talks about the defense's claim that the victims threw the first punch. we'll have that coming up for you in half an hour. reporting live, katy zachry. in northeastern pennsylvania some schools will be closed again today as police continue to look for a man accused of killing a state trooper and shooting another. that trooper will be lied to rest tonight. tracy, it's been ten days now since the troopers were about bushed. >> there are no signs, police are following up on tips, people reporting seeing a man armed dressed in camouflage clothing. the schools in the pocono

mountains are closed again today, in the wallenpaupack school district, they'll be closed again today. some parents are happy that schools are being cautious. >> reporter: the search is on for 31-year-old eric matthew frein, police found his suv near lake wallenpaupack. they said a survivalist who shaved his head in a mohawk in preparation for the attack. he's accused of shooting two policemen last week. >> has a longstanding history in government. and also a military installation based in eastern pennsylvania in which participants assume the role of soldiers of eastern european countries. >> meantime, funeral services will be held today for corporal

bryon dickson of donemore. corporal dickson was a married father of two he was 38 years old. yesterday in scranton, thousands paid their respects to corporal dickson, canine officers conducted security of the area and later this morning, a procession will take dickson's body to a funeral pass in scranton. the wounded officer, state police troop alex douglass underwent surgery. investigators are hoping to talk to him to get more information about the attack. live in the digital operations center, tracy davidson, "nbc10 news." from our delaware bureau now, a delaware state trooper and another man are recovering from a an injury. trooper got into an altercation with the man and the man had injuries. they're investigating the circumstances that led the

trooper to pull her gun. stopping isis, the u.s. senate is expected today to pass a bill that would allow for the training and arming of syrian rebels against militants. president obama praised lawmakers at a congressional picnic at the white house. the said it shows bipartisan support for islamic state groups that now hold territory in iraq and syria. the enterovirus continues to spread in this region. the daily local is reporting that chester county has now confirmed its first case of that respiratory illness that has sickened hundreds of kids across the country. a spokesperson for the union dale chad school district said they will announce that later today. new jersey also has its confirmed case that child was treated in philadelphia, along with three kids from pennsylvania. parents are to watch out for fever, runny nose, mouth blisters and muscle aches.

north-northwest at 3 miles per hour. a cool start and it's going to be very comfortable as we head into the afternoon hours. 40 degrees in the pocono mountains. allentown in quakertown, 51 in swedesboro, 51 degrees in northeast philly. 49 in mount holly. 59 this morning in lewis. as we take a closer look to the beach communities, we want to point out that we do have a moderate rip current risk and that's due to hurricane edouard which is far away offshore and we could see rough surfs so be careful. the average, mid-70s. we're staying below average. we drop even more below average as we head into friday but we warm things up pushing into the weekend. closer look at the radar shot, again, high pressure in control. nice and dry and quiet. not a whole lot happening for the next couple of days.

this morning, police are looking for a person who stole nearly $4,000 of musicale elementary from a bucks county elementary school. that thief broke into the school early tuesday morning. parents got an e-mail telling them eight instruments were taken, including six vial line, a trumpet and a clarinet. >> i think it's pretty sad. especially, you know, it's in the back of the building, and, you know, it's for kids, like why are you taking things from kids. >> police say it's unclear whether surveillance cameras near the school caught the thief on video. they want to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious early tuesday morning. from the south jersey bureau, police in camden are hoping the tips from the public will help them solve the vicious

beating of a homeless woman. it happened in the stretch of ephraim avenue. >> has a broken eye socket. she has three fractured ribs. her face looks like a watermelon. she has blood on the brain and someone did this to her. >> and the victim is in critical condition. if you have any information on this case, report it anonymously. 217-216. the sign told women to flash them. it hung from the second floor balcony at the convention in wildwood last weekend. the mayor is promising disciplinary action. the fire department put out this
