and that breaking news we have a deadly crash tying up the blue route just as the morning drive is getting under way. first alert traffic reporter jillian mele eis checking the impact to your drive. isis threat to your subway system. credible or not, septa is taking no chances. the rain that hung around all day yesterday is gone and we're in for what looks like a great weekend. good morning, everyone. this is nbc 10 today. i'm chris cato on this friday morning. let's start with bill henley and his first alert forecast. >> we're seeing a little bit of fog in the wake of that rain develop in some areas north and

west as temperatures cool down this morning, not seeing it in center city. a live view from the adventure awa aquarium. a visibility at a quarter mile there. blue bell seeing a little light fog developing, but nothing serious just yet. 56 right now in philadelphia and wilmington is at 54 degrees. stand by for temperatures to climb into the 60s to start with and the upper 70s this afternoon. jillian mele eis watching the traffic this morning and things are notku looking good so far. chris? as you mention, bill, that situation on the blue route could be out there for while. let's talk to jillian now on what exactly is going on and what is happening on the blue route. jillian. >> a serious accident involving an overturned truck. let me step out of the way so you can get a good look at the scene. shut down between exits 16 and

18. as you can see, we have debris all over the roadway and police out there, ambulance and fire activity out there. the blue route northbound is completely blocked off right now. all traffic is going to be sent on to 76. this is a tough one for drivers, especially if this stays out there for the later morning hours. you can expect to see the ramps between the blue route and 76 blocked off, especially from 76 to the blue route northbound and that is right where that closure point is happening. as you can see, crews are out there blocking off some of the ramps. again, 76 is not the issue, the ramps that are blocked on 76. the issue itself is the blue route and the northbound side completely shut down at 76 and throughout the morning i'll work to get you a few different alternate routes and we'll have that for you throughout the day. this morning there are new questions about an alleged plot by isis fighters in the u.s. and france to attack subway systems in both of those countries. when that threat was mentioned

by iraq's prime minister, u.s. and french authorities went on alert. yesterday, though, officials in washington and paris cast doubt on the prime minister's report saying they no evidence of such a plot by isis. monique braxton has more in light of subway security on the allege plot. what is the word from septa this morning. >> when we arrived an hour ago we checked to see if we saw any police here. so far we have not. we also have been told by employees that the trains don't run for another hour. take a look at the video we do have for you. s septa is increasing security. an imminent plan by isis militants to attack french and american subway systems. local leaders say there is no evidence our region would be a

fargt. but septa is ering on the side of caution. making sure they have additional boots on the ground. one rider told us he must ride the rails. >> it would be an easy target because there are so many subways in so many cities. >> i don't think the people in the middle east are going to impact the subway system here. >> so, if you are like the riders who depend on septa subways and you're fearful this morning, coming up in the next half hour we're working to tell you how many additional police officers are keeping an eye out to make sure you're safe. monique braxton, nbc 10 news. as we take a live look at 30th street station on this early friday morning, in a statement, amtrak is seeing there are no specific threats against its railroads or trains, but they ido have robot security measures in place and they work closely with the federal terrorism agencies. you can count on nbc 10 and

nbc10.com and bring us any new development and the local response to it. here's what else we're following new from overnight in delaware county. investigators are still looking for the cause of this house fire it happened around midnight. the call went to two alarms and no one was hurt. a bucks county man is charged with raping a young girl. steven dobson jr. killed the girl's kitten after the girl told her mom about the allege rape. a married father of two is free on bail. we have new information this morning in the trial of a man accused of killing a baby and her grandmother in montgomery county. prosecutors say he killed those two in a botched kidnap and ransom attempt in 2012 and serving as his own attorney during this trial. the parents of the baby took the stand yesterday and a lot of

emotion according to reporters in court as he cross examined that baby's mother. the trial is expected to last a week. and happening today, a man convicted of a deadly hit and run in philadelphia will be sentenced to prison. jerome brooks was found guilty of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence. in december of 2012, he ran over deanna as she was crossing 49th street. union nurses are expected back on the job this morning at closure chester medical center. those nurses went on strike sunday morning. the strike ended tuesday, but the hospital brought in temporary nurses who are guaranteed at least five days of work, which is why the union nurses won't return to work until today. the nurses and empty management will. attorney general kathleen cane has revealed the name of eight state officials who received sexual ee-mails while

working in the office. an environmental for protection secretary and documents that were made available by the ags office. the ag couldn't say whether the men actually opened the e-mails in question. two former philadelphia school principals are now charged in a cheating scandal. barbara mccreery and melton were charged tampering and forgery. melton was the principal and mccreery was charged at communication technology high school. both were accused of changing answers on a state standardized tests so schools would make yearly progress. started investigating unlikely results and suspicion

deletions in philadelphia schools. more than 130 staffers have since been implicated and seven of those were charged with crimes. a lehigh valley man has filed a federal lawsuit against allentown police claiming excessive use of force and we have the video that backs up his story. the alleged incident happened back in may during a traffic stop in allentown. now nbc 10 tracked down the witness who recorded that video. in the cell phone video you'll see here you'll see one officer take down kristen ramirez. in the lawsuit ramirez claims one of the officers kneed him in the head while the other held him down. >> it's not right. he wasn't doing anything to be treated like that. >> now, ramirez's lawyer tells us when he's handcuffed he

doesn't pose a threat to him or the police officer. they have not yet be served with a lawsuit. the manhunt for eric frein continues this morning in northeastern pennsylvania. frein is accused of killing that officer. police are still covering a wooded area of three to five miles. on now to some new developments in the ray rice scandal. a law enforcement official says he sent that elevator video to nfl security chief miller back in april and miller says he never received it. the league insists no one saw the tape until earlier this month. rice was suspended indefinitely after that video was released which shows him punching his fiancee unconscious at revel casino hotel in atlantic city.

skies are clear right now and the temperatures have cooled down, so we're watching for some areas of fog and seeing it north and west. right now not happening now, the wind is blowing but a much lighter breeze than what we had yesterday. during the day the fog will disappear in just a few spots this morning. plenty of sunshine all day long and that will lead to a nice warm up this weekend. looks like temperatures for the first autumn weekend are going to be in the 80s. right now, it's a mix of 40s and 50s. 49 degrees in chester springs. northeast philadelphia is 56 degrees and farther north and west, 48 now in coatsville while it's 50 in quakertown and 54 right now in vineland. we'll see ethe fog disappear as the temperatures climb and dense fog for reading and not an issue for the rest of the area.

potstown, quakertown no sign of that fog and no sign of the rain that we had yesterday that is already moved out to the northeast. we're done with that rain that drenched us with close to three inches in parts of delaware and south jersey. so, forecast for today is calling for sunshine to do away with the fog and warm our temperatures into the middle to upper 70s this afternoon. when i come back, hour-by-hour and neighborhood by noirbd and show you exactly what to expect on this friday. we already have a developing traffic situation on the roads. first alert traffic reporter jillian mele is bringing us up to date on 476. jillian. >> a fatal accident. one person has died as a result of that injuries. and this is what's happening right now. a very active scene. the blue route is blocked off, which is in plymouth meeting exits 16 and 18. only affecting the northbound

lanes, but as you can see, a lot of activity out there. a lot of debris on the highway. a two-vehicle accident, a car and a van on its side out there. very serious accident that the authorities will have to do an investigation out there. cleanup happening out there, as well. the blue route northbound is still blocked off at 76. as a result of this, the ramp from 76 to the blue route northbound are also blocked off, as you can see, crews out there completely blocking those ramps. i'll take you to the maps and show you exactly where this accident happened. blue route northbound right at 76 and that is the location of the accident and the northeast extension and the pennsylvania turn pike area. if you need to get around that this morning, this is very difficult for some drivers out there. again, this is the location of the accident and this entire stretch of the blue route is going to be closed off. that's where it's closed off right at 76. if you can get off of the blue route off to 76 westbound and the entrance for the

pennsylvania turnpike and make your way on the turnpike eastbound and that will put you on the turnpike if that's where you need to go or from there you can access the northeast extension. developing throughout the morning and something we will continue to follow and bringing you details. chris? also looking at a traffic accident that has a delaware family looking for a new place to stay. a car smash under to their house destroying it. look at that damage. still ahead what the driver did next that they still find hard to believe. here in new jersey, new concerns today aboute enterovirs 68. i'll have more details coming up.

4:15 now. from our delaware bureau a driver is facing charges after smashing into a home and then trying to walk away from the crash. that driver came speeding down old darly road. the car hit the house with such force it tore a portion of the house. luckily her 6 and 9 year olds were staying with a friend at the time. >> their bunk bed are in the front lawn. >> the house is on the ground. >> the home is now condemned. the driver 35-year-old was captured a few blocks away. he just walked away from the scene there. he's charged with driving under the influence of drugs and leaving the scene of a crime. within the past week, hospitals in south jersey have seen a significant increase in the number of young people coming in with the suspected

enterovirus 68. the virus has been reported in pennsylvania. it's also believed to be in delaware, too. and, of course, all this comes as medical professionals are preparing for flu season. katy zachary is live for us this morning at cooper university hospital in camden. katy, to show us how that hospital are doing to deal with the flu, too. >> chris, new concern this morning about enterovirus 68. cooper university hospital behind me reports that they are seeing nearly double the number of pediatric patients that they normally see this time of year. so, today a new visitor policy goes into effect. no one under 16 years of age is allowed to visit the pediatric intensive care unit or the pediatric floor. enterovirus begins as the common cold but for some patients becomes much worse much quickly.

leading to hospitalization for some. runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever. for some kids who have underlying breathing problems, it could affect that. children with asthma are most at risk. as you said, flu season is just around the corner. at 5:15 we're working on a story eand we talked to one doctor about what her hospital is doing differently coming on the heels of enterovirus and how they're preparing for that. happening this weekend, tomorrow is national prescription drug take back day. a big day where you can make an effort to help curb the addiction of prescription drugs that is sweeping across this country. you get rid of your expired prescription medications with no questions asked. dropoff locations in cape may county. that's tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. lower township residents can turn over their medication at a drive through

drop off. and you can also turn in medicines in pennsylvania at any state police barracks. in new jersey at the moorestown police department or mercer administration. a lot of local police departments taking part in this dropoff day and we have posted a comprehensive list of those at our website. president obama is now looking to fill the top spot at the justice department after eric holder announced his resignation yesterday. the president said holder has done a superb job in driving down crime. he will stay in office until his replacement is confirmed. that could be a problem. they are giving signs that they plan to fight president obama's next nominee, whomever that is.

going to be a nice, sunny day today, but, this morning, temperatures are cooling down and that's leading to a bit of fog after all that rain we had yesterday. right now we're loogiking at clr skies in the city and for much of the rest of the city. 56 degrees right now in philadelphia. wind out of the north, just at five miles an hour and no where near the winds that were gusting to 30 miles per hour yesterday. running six degrees cooler than yesterday, but the humidity still high. we're watching for some areas of fog and finding them north and west where the wind is calmest. right now in reading reporting quarter mile. mixing in the atmosphere and keeping the fog from developing, at least for now. satellite shows the clouds completely out of here. stand by for a nice, sunny and warmer day today. yesterday we were in the 60s through the day. today, we will see the numbers climb into the upper 60s and go even warmer this weekend. got the seven-day, when i come

back in the next half hour. let's get an update on traffic and an update on the situation on 76. jillian mele has that. jillian? >> good morning, chris. we still have a closure on the blue route right now. northbound side blocked off for quite some time this morning. completely blocked off at interstate 76. this is only impacting the northbound side of the blue route, but closed between exit 16 and 18 a which is 76 and conshohocken. this is all that activity still out there. two-vehicle accident and one person has died as a result of their injuries. the blue route is totally shut down. the exits and on ramps are also shut down this morning and they are going to be closed through the extent of this cleanup and investigation that has to go on. on the map right now, this is where the closure point is happening on the blue route northbound literally right at 76. the accident it self happened between these two point on the

the rascal flats concert set for tonight in allentown was canceled tonight. building issues is the reason for the cancellation, but wouldn't elaborate. ticket holders will be reimbursed. last week cher postponed because of illness. she has rescheduled her show for december. now, the new ppl center in allentown is a state of the art arena, just been open for two weeks now. the venue seats more than 10,000 people. the lehigh valley phantoms also play hockey there. this morning, someone out there is holding a ticket for wednesday night's power ball
