he stepped down say ago he hopes his resignation brings calm to ferguson. >> craig good morning. darren wilson avoided prosecution last week when a grand jury decided not to charge him in brown's death. his resignation comes with another high profile grand jury case expected here in new york shortly. >> darren wilson no longer a member of the ferguson police department this morning. in a resignation letter released last night, wilson wrote, i have been told my continued employment may put the residents and police officers of the city of ferguson at risk which is a circumstance i cannot allow. it was my hope to continue to police work, but the safety of other police officers and community are of pair mount importance to me. it's my hope my resignation allows the community to heal. the attorney representing the family of michael brown, the teen shot to death by wilson,

led to a kidnapping four years ago. in the home over my shoulder, they found an area with a false wall. behind that wall, a 13-year-old boy. >> it was an emotional reunion filled with tears and grateful prayers. a mother tightly hugging her son, a 13-year-old she has not seen in four years. police say they were called to this house in jones burrow, jorng george late friday night for a welfare check on a child. when officers arrived, several denied knowing anything but gave them permission to search. >> they didn't locate a child and left the premises. >> around 2:00 in the morning, police got another call, this time while still at the house. the boy called his mother to say he was kept behind a false wall. >> from all indications, it appears the child was being hidden. the neighbor says her son was

signal basically him saying you know what, we are not going to continue to go down this road. we are not going to undermine the grand jury process that took place in ferguson. >> this has sparked a lot of debate in the country about race relations where things stand under the president say of president obama. i know this is something you're tackling today on meet the press. >> we are. we have a panel diversed on this idea because it's amazing six years into the historic presidency like president obama, first african-american president, elected to presidency that both whites and african-americans don't believe race relations are better now than they were ten years ago. the question is why is that? there's certainly some supporters of the president that believe on issues of race at this point in his presidency, he gets stuck between a rock and hard place. no matter what he does. if he speaks out he gets criticized bipolarizing. if he doesn't, he gets

back on a sunday joined by edward norton on the couch. he's joining us to talk about something he's passionate about. as as the founder of the website, you've put a lot out to the "today" show. edward is here to tell us about that. nice to have you with us. in reaction to the craziness of the thanksgiving night and black friday and cyber monday, you are continuing what has been started over the last couple of years, giving tuesday. what is giving tuesday? >> giving tuesday was a brilliant response to the whole idea of kind of the commercial shopping frenzy. it basically said the holiday season in addition to being the shopping season is also sort of the giving season. it's when a lot of people

reflect on causes they want to support, a lot of best organizations many the world using the end of the year and holidays as their big end of the year drive. what clever people with 92y and foundation did was come up with giving tuesday after thanksgiving as a rallying point for organizations to say let's kick off the charitable season. it was very successful. they came to us at crowd rise because we focus on kind of creative leverage for people and activism and organizations. what we all came up with together for this giving tuesday was the idea of giving tower which was -- we felt people liked the idea of seeing in a fun way what the impact of their giving is. we worked with this reality company to make it so that any person that donates on giving tuesday can see their donation as a brick in the giving tower.
