news today." i'm chris cato. let's go to "first alert" meteorologist bill henley. bill, a chill in the air. >> yeah, wind is blowing. you're going to have to find another extra layer this morning. it's cold. look at the wind at center city. that's i live view from the loews hotel. 14-mile-per-hour winds in philadelphia. and up to 22-mile-per-hour winds in lancaster. it say breezy, brisk morning. 36 degrees, the temperature. but it doesn't feel like 36 degrees. with the wind blowing, it feels like 27 degrees. teens for the pocono mountains. it's going to be a blustery day today. nowhere near the 50s we saw yesterday. 33 to start with, 34, much warmer at 9:00. partly sunny, breezy, and 41 degrees by lunchtime. we'll go through hour by hour. right now, i check in with "first alert" traffic reporter katy zachry. >> good morning, bill. it's breezy and cold but not seeing any delays on the

roadways so that's great. for delaware drivers, there's construction to tell you 295 northbound the off ramp to route 30 it's closed. moving into pennsylvania, 202 northbound, between 401, there's construction there. take a look of the overview, pennsylvania 76 you'll find construction at 30th street. 476 is clear. and 95, it's clear southbound. gut girard, be aware of construction there. all in. there may be a deal on the table to save the trump taj mahal casino which was scheduled to close on saturday putting 3,000 people out of work. nbc10's jesse gary is live in atlantic city. jesse, does this have support of the casino union? >> reporter: chris it does. and that union unites here.

it's expected to make an announcement later today. its deal will save 3,000 jobs in a city facing the crisis of by the closure of four casinos this year. mr. carl icahn agreed to restore all work rules. he initially agreed to health benefits. he'll get $150 million from tax breaks from the state. icahn will plot $100 million in cash for full ownership. that cash infusion will keep the doors open. how was this deal brokered? just days before it was scheduled to be shut? weave live in atlantic city this morning. jesse gary, "nbc10 news." new from overnight, a pizza delivery man was carjacked around 1:30 this morning. then they also took the man's car. the victim was not hurt. no arrests at this point. also new from overnight, two

people are recovering from injuries after this crash at the roosevelt boulevard in the crescent portion of the city. police say the driver lost control and flipped over several times and crashed on adams avenue at midnight. both should be okay. this morning, the community is calling for changes to make school bus stops safer after a teenage girl was killed while getting on her bus yesterday. investigators say the bus stopped at the intersection of bensalem boulevard, when an suv went right past that bus running over the girl. family friends and classmates gathered where the 16-year-old lost her life. parents say they complained to the school district many times about students having to cross the intersection in the dark. now they say the district is looking into making changes. >> we're looking at increasing bus routes, changes locations. >> why definitely say this

should not be a bus stop. >> that friend that you just heard from there, she said several weeks ago she was almost hit by a car but monnette pulled her out of the way and saved her life. princeton university's crime log shows three sex assaults were reported over the past weekend. one victim was allegedly fondled at one of the eating clubs this past friday. another victim reported an incident at an eating club within the past month. and a third reported an assault in an earlier academic year. >> especially ivy league school like princeton, you wouldn't think that stuff like that would ever happen here. >> now, the campus is still reeling from a sex photo scandal. just last month at the tiger inn eating club students allegedly circulated a photograph in an e-mail of an undergrad performing a sex act at the club. the club removed two of its

officers and launched an investigation. officers in berker township tells us a video involves minors at roosevelt middle school. the school district is also looking into the matter. officials have confiscated several student cell phones. police have not arrested or charged anyone in this case at this point. happening today, philadelphia students will hold a die-in protest in spring garden nap will happen around 4:30 around the school meeting. in recent weeks, people have staged die-in protests here and in philadelphia demonstrating the killing of unarmed black men. police want to know how a student got a gun into his school yesterday. and somerdale went on lockdown. after a student saw a classmate with a gun. police say the 18-year-old

student who had the gun will be charged. they're not sure how he got it past the school's metal detectors. there are new questions about the death of a man that killed six people in montgomery county. the corner revealed yesterday that brad stone did not stab himself as originally reported by the district attorney. searchers found stone's body on tuesday after a manhunt. we learned there was a machete, an ax and two pill bottles near his body. a toxicology report could reveal what took list life. the results will not be back for a few days. we're following developments in the sony hack sought. investigators say the north korean government ordered the hack attack. the breach prompted the motion picture company to cancel the release of the film "the interview." nbc's tracy davidson joins you

live from the digital operations center following this story for us. >> chris, now that the officials have officially established a link to north korea, a spokesperson says they are considering a range of options. we don't know what the options are but here's what we do know. a u.s. official told nbc news that the hacking occurred outside of the company put but new development comes on the heels of sony late yesterday afternoon cancelling the release of "the interview." the department of homeland security says there's no intelligence to indicate a plot against the theaters. now some are worried more about the thought than the threat. >> it sets a precedent for others to attack cultural items. >> the cancellation of "the interview" could cost sony pictures more than $50 million in theatrical revenue.

now, the white house has released a statement regarding the cyberattack saying the u.s. government is working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. live in the digital operations center, tracy davidson, "nbc10 news." nine minutes after 4:00. there continues to be mixed reaction to president obama's reaction that the u.s. will restore diplomatic actions with cuba. for the trade embargo to be concluded congress would have to approve that. part of it includes release of alan gross from a cuban prison since 2009. the president authorized senior advisers to begin talks on gross' release. nine secret meetings where held in canada and the balkans. >> first thing is buying a computer. everything that normal people do. >> and while gross says he supports the change in relations with cuba, some law rakers

criticized the announcement saying it rewards a government that brutal ices its people. >> the three remaining members the cuban five were released. cuban president raul castro welcomed those men yesterday. the cuban five were part of a spy network that operated in florida in the 1990s. the two others were previously released from prison. and this is people celebrating in the streets of havana after hearing the announcement of the policy change with the u.s. it could give cuba's economy a much needed boost even though tourists are still banned from going there. many travel restrictions will still be lifted. and those will now breathe those famous cuban cigarettes back to the u.s. joanne jesmarard killed a

wildwood, it's freezing, what is feels like right now. bundle up if you're going outside. radar will stay clear for our area, but you don't have to look far to see a few scattered snow showers in central pennsylvania. we won't see those move into the area, but the clouds with those few snow showers will blow through at times, not unlike what we saw yesterday. we will watch the temperatures climb. it's just not going to warm up like yesterday. 34 degrees at 9:00. hour-by-hour forecast showing by lunchtime, the temperatures will be in the low 40s. 41 degrees in philadelphia. but this afternoon, the wind will still be with us. so we will be stuck in the low 30s -- 40s at 4:00 this afternoon, with 30s north and west. a blustery day ahead. temperatures will climb into the lower 40s. partly sunny skies and winds gusting to 30 miles an hour. likely will be stronger this morning than this afternoon. just enough to make it feel like it's in the 30s today.

4:16 on your thursday morning. happening today, boston marathon bombing suspect dzhokhar tsarnaev is scheduled to be in court for the first time in nearly a year and a half. a judge will hold a final hearing before tsarnaev's trial next month. tsarnaev could face the death penalty if convicted in the bombing which killed three people and injured more than 250. pakistan's prime minister has lifted the moratorium.

gunman hilled more than 150 people, most of them children. pakistan had suspended it for years but a school official put more on the pakistani government. now facing criminal charges in connection with a meningitis outbreak. tainted steroids manufactured by that company were blamed for 54 deaths and more than 650 infections in 2012. well, voters will soon know if new jersey governor chris christie is running for fred some 2016, as many have speculated. christie said he will talk to his family over the holidays and make a decision early next year. now, this week, as we know, former governor jeb bush said he would actively explore getting into the republican race. christie will not be sued over the jersey bridge scandal. lawyers for people who were stuck in that traffic jam last fall originally filed a lawsuit

naming christie as a defendant. along with aides. now lawyers are filing a new suit to replace that one and it will not include the governor. now, this comes after an investigative panel investigating the lane closures on the george washington bridge found no evidence that christie was involved. 4:18 and from our jersey shore bureau now, an atlantic city man hosts a petition with more than 100,000 signatures on it will keep a casino agency from taking his home. he delivered that to the governor's office. last month, the judge ruled that the casino investment redevelopment authority has the right to take his home using eminent domain in the shadow of the closed revel casino hotel. he runs a piano business out of the home. new york governor mario cuomo advised a ban for fracking. the process is legal here in pennsylvania and there has been

a drilling boon since 2008. now, health alerts for anyone living in delaware. medical experts want everyone there to get flu shots because the number of people with that sickness in delaware continues to climb. there are more than 250 confirmed cases of the flu so far this season in delaware. and two people have died. well, powdered alcohol, it hasn't even arrived in stores yet but some states, including some in this area have banned it. the powder is call palcohol, you just add water. it's not expected to be in stores until spring of next year. but there are already plenty of concerns. >> delivery system that we don't know anything about. and we fear that it will be made available to people who should not be consuming alcohol. >> now, the fda says it doesn't have the legal basis to block the sale of the product. but eight states have already banned it including new jersey and delaware. well, you'll soon see

like 27, in philadelphia, the wind is steady at 14 miles an hour. and we're seeing breezes up to 30 miles an hour so far this morning. they're back in the pocono mountains, this is a view from camelback this morning. we'll see temperatures climb a little above freezing. but staying in the 30s later today. right now, it feels like the teens in the mountains. 36 degrees in northeast philadelphia, philadelphia international and wilmington. but there are some colder readings around, if you go inland, you can see farther north and west, doylestown, 33 degrees. 32 for quakertown. and a colder morning down by 10 degrees for most of the area this morning. there's still a few clouds on the satellite imagery, but they're not going to produce any wet weather for us. all the wet weather stays to the south. it's to the south that the attention will turn for the weekend. we're getting clouds in the area not during the day or in the evening thursday. there's high clouds moving through parts of delaware and south jersey.

but completely dry thursday. look like it's going to be dry friday. but we've been watching a storm system come together so far this week. it looks like rain for the next couple days. you can see it's going to be on the move, moving into the carolinas. western north carolina by 3:00 saturday afternoon. but notice how far it stays away so much. even into early sunday morning. we'll be getting clouds but the wet weather stay to the south. so looks like we're going to get a reprieve from wet weather this weekend. today, a reprieve from the cold. the wind will be steady and make it feel like the 30s. the full seven-day forecast coming up in the next half hour. and in the next ten seconds a full look at the roads as we get ready to start your thursday morning. katy, you had an accident out there earlier, still out there? >> yeah, an accident on the roosevelt boulevard. southbound philadelphia drivers. but i want to start with another

issue for philadelphia drivers. this is north philadelphia. ridge avenue and 26th street. but if that's part of your commute this early hour be a wear of that, you'll definitely want to slow in that area. and then route 1 southbound at f street, the two inner lanes are blocked because of that accident on roosevelt boulevard. southbound, now, for delaware drivers, 295 northbound, the construction at this early hour. the off-ramp is closed to route 13 and route 40. chris. the police department is keeping a watchful eye from the sky. next, we'll tell you which city has become the first in the state to use a drone for law enforcement and how it has helped to solve a murder case. plus, a family's camcorder ended up in a lost and found box in the jersey shore in the '90s. we'll tell you how it will soon make its way back to its owner.

4:26 now. wilmington police have a new set of eyes to watch crimes from above. wow, that was the wilmington police department's drone. it's the first in delaware to use a drone. on monday, officers flew the drone over a protest to make sure no violence broke out. police say the device can help them solve and prevent crimes. they say it's already been used to convict a man on murder charges. >> we look for weapons that have been confiscated. we can follow the path. the aircraft is so small. >> it costs $1600, and in operating it, the police have to follow the same faa rules as

everyone else. long before drones there were camcorders, one lost at the jersey shore will soon be back with its owner. >> these two little girls were featured in a bag of videos in a lost and found box in jenkins beach back in 1998. workers discovered the videos and an old camcorder in jenkinsson's attic, they tracked down the owner in northeastern pennsylvania. >> i was totally surprised but very thankful and appreciative. we thought the camera and the movies in it for gone for. >> and mark christie said he and his wife lost the bag 16 years ago. the family intends to pick up their precious videos soon after christmas. >> announcer: now your nbc10 "first alert" weather. >> a cold and breezy morning. it's a live view from center city where the winds are steady this morning, making it feel like it's in 20s.
