a missing mother's car is found and a husband is in custody after a chase with police. we are live as her family awaits the next step in solving the mystery. camden's comeback. the city is trying to make a new name for itself. this morning we're checking on what has been accomplished. and the cold is making a return. today the temperatures are dropping as we begin and the winds are starting to pick back up. good morning, this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. let's begin with meteorologist bill henley with his first alert forecast. bill? tracy, the rain is out of here with the clouds overhead but the wind is key. look at the northerly wind atop the aramark building.

that's cold air coming into the area. but not cold yet. 35 in philadelphia. there goes the rain and temperatures drop. what is on the ground could be refreezing as you could see icy spots. the temperatures are brought down with the winds at 14 miles per hour in the pocanos. philadelphia down a degree as now in the teens in the pocano mountains. that's the cold air that's going to be moving into the area. so it's warmer now than it's going to be all day. 28 degrees at 7:00. 26 with the wind blowing at 9:00, then struggling to get to 30 degrees as we head into the afternoon. we'll go through hour by hour with the future weather when i'm back in ten. but right now let's go to jillian mele. good morning jillian. good morning. we are starting off with a problem in new jersey with an accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer on i-295

northbound near route 73. the far lane is getting by right now but not causing any delays out there. it is too early in the morning for that. we also have a lane restriction on the northbound side of 295 as it results. so heavy activity on 295. this is something we'll keep watching throughout the morning. elsewhere, we are dealing with an accident on pennsylvania turnpike eastbound abroaching the valley forge interchange. 4:02 right now. new overnight in delaware investigators are looking for the gunman who killed two people at a newark apartment complex. it happened at the vine apartments just after 7:00. one man died at the scene and the other died at the hospital. heavy smoke and flames poured out of this home overnight. firefighters were called to the scene at north third and d streets. no word on the cause. the husband of a missing burlington county woman is in police custody questioned right

now. kyle crosby was arrested near route 130 after police spotted his wife's car. jesse gary is live outside the mount laurel police station. jesse, bring us up to speed. >> reporter: crosby is being questioned here but police won't say if he's being questioned or charged or will be charged in the future. right now they say all further information has to come from the burlington county prosecutor's office. he was cuffed and put in the police car overnight as he tried to run following police questioning him on his wife's disappearance. erika crosby was last seen at this cherry hill restaurant. his family members say something is terribly wrong. you'll hear their comments coming up in the next 30 minutes. live in mount laurel jesse gary "nbc 10 news." as new jersey governor chris christie weighs a potential

presidential run in 2016 today his focus is on the state of new jersey. the governor will deliver his state of the state address following a year of controversy and economic shortfalls. new jersey's unemployment rate fell to 6.6% in november. higher than the national average. nbc 10's katy zachry is live in camden with a look at how things have changed there in the past year. >> reporter: hi, tracy. over the last few days i have talked to people who live and work in camden and people agree things are improving. new real estate is coming into the area and also crime numbers are down. now, we were on the rutgers camden campus where we saw them building many more facilities, condo homes are being sold. in fact, the same development team is breaking ground on a large rental property later this year because their condo sales near university hospital have been so successful. and the 76ers are moving their operation to the camden waterfront along with several other companies to bring

involved in a crash at lincoln and fourth avenue and prospect park and left the scene. he has taken a leave of absence from the football team. and the bucks school board willed decide whether to fire a high school guidance counselor over a message posted on facebook. administrators suspended mary blankenberg who said she would shoot protesters from stopping her kids from getting to the eagles' game. the mother of a 10-year-old gloucester county boy who was killed by a police car says she may file a lawsuit. his mother is upset over statements made by the prosecutor's office. they say the boy ran out in front of the police car but that

the officer would not face charges. his mother says i am genuinely upset that the prosecutor's office was making a concerted effort to place blame on my child who was trying to play in his neighborhood. and 22-year-old audrey dancelward was a member of the school's a cappella group. officials do not know how she died but don't believe it was suspicious. and we have new information on penn state and the ncaa in troords regards to the ncaa jerry sandusky abuse trial. the trial is scheduled for next month. police in france say as many as six members of a terror istist

attack may still be on the run. officials believe hayat b bomeddiene is still hiding out. meantime, a white house spokesperson says the u.s. should have sent representatives to the anti-terrorist march in paris. and the issue of "charlie hebdo" is now circulating online. i am charlie is appearing in french and the words "i am forgiven" are as well. cyber vandals hack eded twitter yesterday sending out pro-slang

propaganda. officials say the information was not classified or compromised. some believe the cyber vandalism is just for publicity. >> this is what we call hacking. the marriage of hacking and activism here. in this case the terrorist, they are looking for publicity. >> the accounts were taken down for most of the day but restored late last night. temperatures are above freezing right now but that's changing quickly. it's turning colder as we speak, so watch out for icy spots. not everything has dried up since the rain last night. it will be a windy day blowing clouds through the area but dry this weekend. once we get through today and tomorrow morning, which is going to be colder then we'll look at warmer temperatures toward the weekend, especially when we'll see high temperatures in the 40s. right now, 31 degrees in doylestown. philadelphia, 35.

still clouds over cape may, 36 degrees. there's cape may. you can see it's a bit damp. likely to stay above freezing. and it will dry off beach avenue. but there are already icy spots north and west. so be on the lookout for those. the rain is completely out of the picture areas north and west especially susceptible to ice this morning. look at the wind. this is where the cold air is coming from. these are northerly and northwesterly winds with cold air in the pocanos bringing in the teens. right at 30 degrees with winds of 28 miles an hour in allentown. the cold air is going to make it march down the i-95 corridor. expect a cold and windy day. in fact, look at the temperatures. this is 5:00 this morning. 31 in philadelphia. by 7:00 it turns colder 28 degrees. and the numbers even come down even at 9:00 we'll be in the middle. so a cold and windy day. we'll go through the future weather with the wind when i

come back in ten. the potential for icy spots is there again for sure. jillian mele is continuing to follow a problem on i-295. >> yes, we still have cleanup going on as a result. this is what it looks like right now on 295. the activity is on the southbound side past route 73. so most of the lanes on 295 southbound are blocked. only the far right lane of traffic is getting by. then over here we have the left lane blocked on the northbound side of 295. so a good thing is that we don't have much traffic out there, but i'll continue to watch this area. no issues on the vine street expressway, 95 is also quiet. 76 on the highway itself is clear but at the south street on/off-ramps, the traffic lights are on flash. so use caution headed out that way. tracy? 11 minutes past 4:00. setting up for a big move the new sign this morning that could mean a presidential run for

4:15 right now. today the second black box from the airasia plane was pulled from the bottom of the java sea. the black box will now head to jakarta where the first flight box is. so far only 48 of the bodies have been recovered. two more families are filing

a lawsuit in connection with a deadly rampage at sandy hook elementary school. the family said the school failed to provide proper security. 20 children and 6 educators died when adam lanza opened fire inside in december 2012. nine families are suing the manufacturer and distributor of the rifle used by lanza. there's a new witness to testify against the purlington county man in the disappearance of etan patz. pedro hernandez is charged with murdering the 6-year-old boy nearly 40 years ago. it is still unclear who the witness is or the information the person has. hernandez confessed to the 1979 murder of the boy but now he denies it. jury selection is underway for his murder trial. from our jersey shore bureau police are looking for two inmates in cumberland county. jacob brown walked away from the halfway house this weekend. and timothy rutecki never

returned from the halfway house from work. if you see either one, call police. police in new jersey are asking for the help to identify a man's body that washed ashore a year ago. the man is believed to be in his 20s and his body was found at the gateway marina in highlands, monmouth county back in 2014. if you recognize him, give the police a call. a mourning period is now over for philadelphia fallen firefighter joyce craig. ♪ i am super woman ♪ >> songs, stories and tears filled the mayor's reception hall yesterday during a memorial service for the 11-year veteran of the philadelphia fire department and the mother of two children. she died fighting a house fire on december 9th. she got trapped in the basement. her brother focused on how she lived and not how she died. >> everybody who knows joyce

knows she smiled a lot. she loved to enjoy life. >> mayor michael nutter presented craig's family with a flag from the city after she died. darrell clark says he'll run for re-election. former state senator abraham, trujillo williams and doug oliver plans to announce his candidacy next month. the mayoral primary is in may. chris christie is sending mixed signals about a presidential run. the top fund-raiser announced he is stepping down this week. and it's believed he would be

christie' finance chief for a 2016 presidential campaign. someone not running for president was paul ryan. there was speculation about his ambitions for 2016 but ryan says he wants to focus on his work in congress. ryan was republican candidate for vice president in 2012. president obama's leader for school said he wants to get rid of the no child left behind act. education secretary arne duncan said the current bill created ways for students and schools to fail. he said no child left behind needs to be fixed but there's disagreement on how to fix it. >> let's work together to come up with a law to improve excellence and support education. >> he says his new plan includes better access to high-quality preschools and better support for low-income schools. happening today, the national transportation safety board will release its most wanted list for safety

improvements in 2015. for the first time the board will prioritize safety in mass transit by computer rails, subways and light rails. last year they focused on substantive care for accidents. the ftc has a new online consumer health center to allow people to file complaints and get quicker responses. the site will provide consumers with a tracking number to check on the status of their complaint. the ftc will also be able to send the complaint directly to service providers who would have to respond in 30 days. pope francis is in sri lanka for the first leg of a trip to asia. the pope plans to bring a message of peace and respect for all people regardless of faith or ethnicity. his arrival comes on the heels of new international tensions over the paris attacks. in a message to vatican officials, he said religious

fundament fundamentalism was because they used god as a pretext to perpetuate mass killing. watch out for icy spots this morning. the temperatures are falling and that is why. the wind is blowing, colder air into the area. the numbers have started to come down in philadelphia. 35 degrees. but much of the area is already seeing the ground freeze up with the north/northwesterly winds at 10 miles an hour and some higher gusts. in the pocano mountains, they are back to making snow in the teens in the mountains. that's the cold air moving in to the rest of the area. look at the arrows lining up. the northerly winds at 14 18 13-mile-an-hour winds. steady for everyone seeing the winds. actually, they will be increasing this morning. then this afternoon they start to taper off with winds of 9 miles an hour. by that time the cold air will will be be in place.

doylestown areas north and west, this is where we could see the icing this morning. the areas that didn't completely dry. langhorne, 35 degrees. the surface, the ground always cools faster than the area so you can still have icy spots with temperatures a little above freezing. doylestown is just below freezing at 31 degrees. quakertown kinterville, temperatures are 34 and falling. a warm up for the weekend with the seven-day coming up next half hour. see you in a few minutes. 4:21 as you get ready to leave the house this morning, we'll check on the roads and look for trouble spots with jillian mele. >> good morning, tracy. the big problem spot is 295 in mount laurel. this is a life look at 295 out near route 73 with activity in

both directions lane restrictions northbound and southbound as a result of the overnight accident with an overturned tractor-trailer. still not causing big delays but depending how long it stays out there, we could see heavy volume. i'll keep an eye on that for you. the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound approaching the valley forge interchange, we have an accident there on the shoulder not blocking anything. crews could soon start working on bad bridges in pennsylvania. penndot announced yesterday it's completed the final terms for an $899 million rapid bridge replacement project. the project is a public and private initiative. nearly 600 bridges will be replaced. pennsylvania has nearly 4500 structurally deficient bridges. and the drawbridge connecting the city and avalon is closed to traffic for the second phase of the construction project there to strengthen the aging zlurk. it won't reopen until early april but the bridge remains raised so boats can pass

it is 4:25. health officials say there are seven more cases of measles at disney. they are working with public health authorities on the issue. safety concerns are making new jersey lawmakers take a closer look at regulating vehicle kill switches. according to our partners at news works, some politicians say

they are concerned that the device can be activated while moving. you can remotely disable the vehicle while they are missing a payment. and the city of philadelphia is looking to hire the peace corps alumni. mayor nutter is the first in the country to award points on an exam for prospective employees of the national service programs. he also encouraged other businesses to do the same. comcast, nbc universal and septa are answering the call. >> these american members have a passion for making a positive impact in their communities. and we believe that they will bring that same dedication and commitment as our employees. >> philadelphia works, csx and teach for america have also signed on as employees of national service.
