forecast. not too bad this morning, bill. not too bad. we should be in the 20s in the morning and that's where we are right now. the wind is kicking in to south jersey, but it's not blowing in clouds this morning. the temperatures are falling right now. just down to 29 degrees in philadelphia. that's down 1 degree in the last hour. allentown, 26 degrees. a cold start but we'll see bright sunshine today. 26 at 7:00. by 9:00 closer to 30 degrees and the middle 30s at lunchtime and climbing. we'll go through it hour by hour with the future weather when i'm back in ten. let's get back to the breaking news now with a crash on a major roadway in philadelphia. jesse gary is live in oxford circle. jesse, where are you and what is happening there? >> reporter: chris, along the boulevard here, just minutes ago

a flatbed truck removed the most serious damage from the two-vehicle crash here on the boulevard. and now the southbound lanes have been reopened. traffic is moving again. we'll look at the video now of the crash happening about a half hour ago at bundleton avenue. the witnesses tell me that a nissan morano suv traveling southbound on the boulevard ran a red light and broadsided the driver who was in a four-door mercury heading west on bustleton. paramedics rushed the driver of the mercury to the hospital. police tell me that man was complaining of back pain. the crash is now under investigation, but the philadelphia highway patrol is making quick work to get the southbound lanes to reopen quickly. so this shouldn't be an impact for the morning commute in this area. live in oxford circle jesse gary "nbc 10 news." now to jillian mele with the rest of the traffic picture. jillian, good morning. good morning. we are not reporting any accidents on the highway across the area. so a pretty quiet start to the morning, especially with the

accident being cleaned up on the boulevard. this is a live look of 95 near girard avenue on the southbound side. this is where we see the volume in the morning at 5:45. i'll keep youup dated on the delays as they form here. it's pretty quiet on 95. 76 is looking good along with the blue route. the pennsylvania turnpike has the normal spots of construction, but nothing to slow down traffic. drive times are 22 to 23 minutes in both directions between bensalem and valley forge. and a problem you alerted us to yesterday morning. repair crews will return to the scene of the water main break of roosevelt boulevard that was shut yesterday during the morning rush. the inner lanes were reopened today. today they will focus on the outer lanes. new from overnight, the united states and britain have closed their embassies in yemen. they have evacuated embassy staffers and britain has also

coaching the football team but is still a full-time teacher there. six years later the search continues for a man who murdered a bucks county lawyer outside his office. on this day in 2009 eric burnball arrived to his office on buck road in north hamilton township. as he talked to his secretary in the parking lot, someone walked up behind him and shot him in the back of the head. the secretary was ducking for cover and didn't get a good look for the man. the investigators still don't know why he targeted the attorney. in the atlantic casino crisis now, a bankruptcy judge could decide today if revel can keep the $10 million deposit from the developer who wants to buy the disclosed property. they were going to buy the property for $95 million but yesterday the casino canceled the deal after the sale deadline passed monday night. so today they will ask for them to extend the deadline. police arrested a man accused of shooting a tv sports anchor.

he's accused of shooting kyle krasca yesterday. he was wounded in the stomach and leg but will recover. police won't see if krasca knew his attacker. and a woman is out of the hospital after being sexually assaulted in the middle of the afternoon. the 27-year-old woman was lost and stopped to ask this man for directions inside the jefferson station. the man walked with her in the track area and pulled her into a secluded area where he beat her and sexually assaulted her. women who ride septa say there needs to be more security. >> i usually try to come in a later part of the day, but when she has to go somewhere at 11:30, 1:30 5:30 it shouldn't happen ever. >> the attack happened at 1:00 p.m. and then the man took off running. if you recognize him, take a look here. police want to hear from you.

and the widow of american sniper chris kyle is expected to testify against the man accused of killing him. she will be one of the witnesses in the trial of eddie ray ralph. ralph's lawyers are pursuinging an insanity defense saying he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. and jurors in new york city yesterday watched a burlington county man videotape a confession of murdering a boy 35 years ago. the group heard taylor hernandez admit to choking 6-year-old etan patz and leaving his body in the track. his body was never found but the lawyers say this was dreamed up by a mentally-ill man. skies are clear and the

the sky. today, we're watching some snow however, that is moving through michigan and into canada. this could be here tomorrow with some scattered light snow showers. i don't think it's going to amount to much but it's on track for tomorrow. for today, what you see is temperatures climbing. we'll see them move up fairly rapidly with bright sunshine. we'll go from the 20s first thing this morning into the 30s by 10:00. and by 11:00, just below freezing in philadelphia. but that changes heading into the afternoon hours. enough sunshine and just a few scattered clouds at 3:00 this afternoon. millville is closer to 40 degrees at that hour. so the forecast for today? grab your sunglasses as you will need that and you have to bundle up this morning. but afternoon temperatures are well into the 30s with north/northeasterly winds not as strong as they were yesterday. all right, a look at the weekend forecast when i'm back in ten. all right, bill. ten minutes after 4:00 now,

jillian mele has a look at what is happening on the roads. good morning jillian. >> good morning. it's quiet on the major roadways especially out of inner city philadelphia. the vine street expressway and 76 is clear in both directions. that's a little bit of good news. a look at the major, 76 eastbound from the pennsylvania turnpike to the vine street expressway, that will take you 21 minutes. the average speed there is 53 miles per hour. 95 southbound from woodhaven road to the vine 14 minutes. and 476 to 76 is 15 minutes. taking you to delaware a quiet route 1 at route 9. things are really looking good out here. this is a different scene than yesterday with the freezing rain. we are not reporting any accidents the length of route 1. the late night shake-up continues. the host leaving his post after more than a decade and how jon stewart broke the news. and new information on a raging fire in new jersey.

fire complex that ended up sparking a fire. and an elderly woman drove into the path of an oncoming vehicle and hit a minivan. she died at the scene. a pregnant woman and her two children were inside that van. they were hurt but they are expected to be okay. and rescue crews pulled a couple and their dog from a burning home in philadelphia that started around 9:30 last night in kensington. investigators believe an electric heater that was too close to a mattress started the fire. and we're learning more now about the local connection to a weekend murder at a college in lancaster county at university. police says gregorio orrostieta strangled karli hall from delaware county. the two had dated for about a year. orrostieta's neighbors say he played lacrosse at chester county. >> he was a nice kid around

here. he used to be just playing soccer with the rest of the kids. i would never imagine him doing that. >> and nbc 10 went to orrostieta's home yesterday but no one answered the knock at the door. we also asked kenneth high school investigators to comment but they declined. and bobbi kristina still remains in a coma. they say a neighbor reported a fight at her townhome but the guard didn't offer descriptions or say who was fighting. now, three years ago today whitney houston died after being found in the bathtub of her home or her hotel room in beverly hills. a coroner ruled it an accidental drowning listing cocaine and heart disease as contributing factors.

and nbc news announced they have suspended nightly news anchor brian williams for six months without pay. this comes a week after williams apologized on air for inaccurately saying nefs a helicopter hit by a rocket-profelled grenade covering the iraq war in 2003. lester holt will continue to fill in for williams. another tv host announces he'll be leaving the late-night comedy show. jon stewart broke that news to his audience saying he's stepping down from "the daily show" on comedy central after more than 15 years. he'll leave some time this year. a replacement has not yet been named and his departure comes after stephen colbert's departure late last year. a pennsylvania representative has introduced two new bills to give rights to transgender people. one requires health care coverage for people who are transitioning through hormone therapy or surgery. and another measure would require college campuses to allow students to live according to their gender identity even

if it doesn't match the sex on their student records. that would apply to policies and locker rooms, restrooms and sports. and bryn mawr college says they will start accepting transgender in admissions. the college recognizes that conceptions of gender are changing. they will ask for additional documentation if an applicant's gender is not clearly reflected on their application. and a new obstacle this morning to the plan to demolish hundreds of buildings in camden. the contractor that won that job last month has pulled out over liability concerns and the cost of asbestos removal. a city spokesperson says camden is now working to find the next qualified bidder. phase one of the demolition project will bring down 62 abandoned and unsafe buildings in the whitman park and cramer hill neighborhoods of camden. the city will tear down another 531 buildings during phase two

and the city is looking to stabilize more than 1,000 other abandoned homes. camden also requires owners to register their property and pay fees when those buildings are left vacant. well, boston and most of massachusetts is going through a snow overload. so much snow has piled up in boston that crews have resorted to dumping it into area waterways. a heavy blanket of snow was too much for the roof of this piano store here. and records indicate that boston got almost 6 feet of snow over the past 18 days. 6 feet in 18 daysle. and the city is now bracing for even more. we are bracing for colder weather heading into the weekend. we are in the teens for the pocano mountains. the rest of the area clear. no sign of any snow. none being made in the philadelphia area with the skies going to see lots of sunshine today. right now 29 degrees in

philadelphia. with a little bit of a breeze at 13 miles an hour we have a windchill of 19 degrees right now. and sunshine from the city to the slopes during the day. the temperatures will climb into the 20s this afternoon. a cold day for the mountains, but we'll all enjoy sunshine nice clear skies will persist during the day today. but come tomorrow some clouds will be moving in. and behind these clouds we have light snowfall that is a possibility for tomorrow. scattered snow showers and then behind it is much colder air. we'll be looking at the 20s for friday and into the weekend for highs. that's the first chance of snow. it doesn't look very serious. half an inch in the areas to see scattered snow showers and not everybody will see it. then another chance for snow friday evening at 8:00. you can see the light snow moving through the ohio valley. so there's a possibility for us on valentine's day, but it's a

robinson went on to defeat the team from las vegas to become the u.s. champs but now u.s. officials are questioning whether the team used players who lived outside the local area. if so, that would be a violation. espn reports the investigation is already complete. no word yet on what the penalty might be. in the past coaches and officials associated with the chicago team have denied any wrongdoing. the fight for ebola enters a new phase today. the announcement the president is expected to make about the troops fighting the disease. plus, now hiring. the store looking to add hundreds of employees and the special groups of people in are encouraged to apply.

4:45. today president obama will announce the withdrawal of troops in west africa. the president will outline the next steps the u.s. will take to fight that epidemic. u.s. troops have filled 15 ebola treatment units and trained more than 1500 workers in west africa. only 100 troops will remain there after april 30th. happening today, new jersey governor chris christie will meet with china's ambassador to the u.s. that meeting will be held at the governor's office in trenton at 3:00 this afternoon. christie returned last week from a trade trip to the united kingdom. while he hasn't formally declared any 2016 presidential plans, the governor appears to be taking opportunities to bolster his foreign policy credentials. and if you are looking for work, you may be looking depot. they are hiring with 1,50 jobs in 33 stores.
