morning. 37 degrees here at nbc10 and the wind is blowing above building level. the wind has really come down at the surface. it's going to be dry too. that may be changing by tomorrow morning. for today, we're at 34 and falling in philadelphia. it's 35 in trent. wilmington down to 33. but the numbers will be coming up. we'll get some sunshine at 9:00. few clouds, 39 degrees. but dry and 48 and climbing. we'll go through hour by hour with the future weather, show you how high the temperatures will go in your neighborhood. going, katy. >> good morning. it's going to be a nice day. it's nice on the roads right now, although i am following some overnight construction. it is on the northeast extension. it's affecting traffic in both

directions. and the exit for i-78. 76 at montgomery drive looking free and clear of any problems there. 76 eastbound between blue root and the vine about 12 minutes. 95 southbound will take you about 13. chris? all right. new from overnight, police are trying to figure out how bad blood between two neighbors led to an ambush-style shooting. we're live where that shooting happened. what's going on there now? >> reporter: a police crime scene unit has pulled on scene and detectives are inside. you can see one out by the steps with a flashlight. they are searching for the gun that was used in this shooting. the two next door neighbors had

been at odds for some time. police say the suspect fired five shots. one of them hit the victim in the shoulder. the shooter then barricaded himts himself inside the victim's house. medics rushed the victim to presbyterian hospital. as for the shooter, police tried to talk him out, but failed. that's when officers called in swat. i'll tell you what swat had to do to get him out coming up in 30 minutes. nbc10 news. also new, two people including a philadelphia firefighter were injured in a house fire in northeast philadelphia. the fire started at the home on brookview road around 2:30 this morning. we're working now to find out the condition of that firefighter. we're also told a man in his 20s is being treated. >> students and teachers won't

be going to class today after fire over the weekend kbuted the 40-year-old school for children with special needs. it went up in flames early saturday morning destroying decades of artwork, photos and memories. one ninth grader said it wasn't just her school it was her savior. >> it hit me pretty hard. it was an amazing school for me. i was not the best student at my public school. since attending here i've been honor roll student for two times now. >> classes will resume wednesday at a nearby college. no word yet on what caused the fire. a delaware county man and his infant daughter are lucky to be alive this morning after a pickup truck plowed through their house. it happened early yesterday morning on hidden valley road. police say a drunk driver ran a

stop sign and then into the kitchen of that home. the homeowner had just walked out of the kitchen. they were not injured. happening today lawmakers and first responders will make a push to better prepare emergency workers for a train derailment like this one here. they will talk about what they hope to do later this morning. and the rebel saga rolls on this morning. the sale of the closed casino hit yet another snag. they did not approve the sale. the third time a deal has fallen through. they were expected to ask the judge to reconsider today. if you drive on city avenue, you're probably tired of trying to dodge potholes but relief is

we're watching clouds moving in during the afternoon and evening hours. it's going to take some time for them to come into the area. we'll get a nice warmup before they take over tonight. 39 in trenton and 39 in wilmington at that hour. into the afternoon the temperatures continue to go up. certainly warmer than what we experienced yesterday. 57 degrees at 3:00 this afternoon. partly sunny skies. afternoon temperatures close to 60 degrees with winds much lighter than yesterday. out of the west to 12 mile per hour. there's a chance of showers in the near future. extended future weather when i'm back. see you then. eight minutes after 4:00 now. let's get another check of the roads this morning. katy is watching everything. katy a lot of green moving on the map there.

12 minutes after 4:00. the wealthy real estate heir is heading to court today following his arrest on murder charges. police arrested robert durst yesterday. then in last night's finale of the hbo documentary, durst wore his microphone into a bathroom and said you're caught. he's accused of killing his long-time friend. he's also suspected in the 1982 disappearance of his wife kathleen. he was charged with the murder of his neighbor in galveston, texas. he was arrested for shoplifting

a $6 sandwich. he was vermgly acquitted in the texas murder. >> in illinois an amtrak train slammed into a pickup truck killing the man inside the truck. it happened yesterday morning. none of the passengers were hurt. witnesses told officials they saw the driver of the truck go around the warning gates and through the krotscrossing. last monday a philadelphia bound train slammed into a truck and derailed in north carolina. and this morning, philadelphia police are still looking for suspects in two weekend shootings. in north philadelphia last night, someone shot a man. police say the man took himself to the hospital and is stable condition. saturday night, police say they found a man that had been shot 11 times lying on 23rd street. right now, he is stable at the

hospital. well, gun rights groups rallies at a popular park yesterday to protest a firearms policy. with their handguns holstered to their hips, they called for the repeal of the local ordinance. the law says that no person except police can bring guns into a local part. but they argue it goes above state law and is illegal. they say they should be allowed to carry weapons even onto the playground. >> just in case. the firearm, that's your insurance policy. people want to do bad things to you, it keeps them away. >> i think the message they're sending is, we're bullies and we're coming to your town. >> gun rights advocates say they plan to sue the township if they don't repeal the ordinance. the township says they're within their right to do this.

they're investigating the death of a man whose body washed ashore on a beach in new castle county. someone spotted the body yesterday afternoon. an autopsy will determine the man's identity. they believe a natural gas leak is to blame for a house explosion. it happened yesterday morning. a 26-year-old woman is recovering from injuries. authorities say maintenance work was being done at the house at the time of the explosion. this is the third explosion in ocean county related to natural gas in just a matter of weeks. demolition work is now underway at the boyd theater in philadelphia despite a protest. on saturday, crews tore down huge sections of the theater. it opened in 1928. last year they reach add deal to protect certain parts of the

building. there are plenty of public spaces in philadelphia right now that people enjoy every day. but for some of the city's less popular parks, there's an effort underway now to make those parks more appealing. we're live to explain. >> reporter: chris, fair mount park is massive. we're right by the police museum but the idea here is to get people just visiting those areas to come out here. there are two big groups that are handling this right now. spending about $11 million or so over the next year for what they've called the reimagining the civic commons initiative. the idea is to transform the park place and how so? well by making remembernovations. >> it's about connecting the dots and promoting greater

insurance under the affordable care act. and edible medical marijuana could soon be available in new jersey. why some say this is long overdue. diagnosing autism. new research that could help doctors identify the disease earlier.

enrollment. staff members will be there today from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. new jersey's three dispensaries could soon start making and selling edible forms of medical marijuana. they put the first standards in place last week. medical marijuana advocates have been pushing governor christie to do more to ease access for children who suffer from illnesses who could be helped by this. researchers have developed a new test to help identify autism as early as 1-year-old. boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed with autism so these findings are encouraging for parents. it means children could get the help they need earlier than the average age autism is discovered. >> there could be a medical breakthrough for millions of americans with high cholesterol. research shows an experimental
