on him and they promised it would be a dramatic conclusion. the 71-year-old is back behind bars this morning arrested in new orleans over the weekend in connection to the murder of long time friend susan berman. he is the suspect of the documentary, the jinx. >> i tell the whole truth. nobody tells the whole truth. >> he examines three crimes. 1982 disappearance of his wife and a 2001 murder in texas for which he stood trial and was acquitted. >> not guilty. >> and the murder he was arrested for late saturday. the show's finale aired hours after news of his arrest came public. in it he was confronted with a dom damning evidence that tied his

handwriting to the presumed killer. he goes into the bathroom with his microphone still on. he begins talking to himself. >> what the hell did i do? killed them all of course. >> former prosecutor janine investigated him in 2000 during the time of berman's murder. >> susan berman was killed because she knew too much about the case i was investigating and he knew she knew. i believe he murdered her to prevent her from talking to us. >> kathleen's friends feel a step closer to justice. >> i will take what i can get. if there is more forensic evidence there, why not. you can only put him away once. >> while his estranged brother expressed thanks. we are relieved and grateful to everyone who assisted in the

arrest of robert durst and hope he will be held accountable for all he has done. the lapd would not confirm a connection between the evidence they say they have and the documentary. he said i et cetera anded more. he will plead not guilty in los angeles. >> today's legal analyst and thoughts on the case. good morning. let's talk about the confession or what appears to be a confession. i think there is a threshold legal question and whether it would be admitted into court. they would argue it shouldn't be heard by jurors. >> here's what the argument would be. they were communicating with law enforcement over a period of two years and acting as agency of the state. he had a reasonable expectation

spelled the word beverly in beverly hills wrong. they came up with a letter known to be sent from him to the victim in this case. it looks like similar handwriting and same misspelling. is that a smoking gun? >> that is the most compelling evidence. he has a hard time explaining it. the handwriting analyst said it is a match. when you look at the letter n, it is a dead ringer. he has a hard time explaining that. >> i know you watched this first trial closely, the in texas. what do you make of the fact that robert durst's own words appear to be his own undoing. >> he sat for the interviews at great length over the advice of his attorneys. people want to confess. they want to talk to someone. that's what happened here and if he is brought down it's by his

after month of snow. here's a look at the new totals. 108.6 inches more than nine feet of snow that breaks the old record in the mid 90s by a full inch. yesterday the mayor sent out i tweet saying we celebrate with parades. world series stanley cups and nba championships. he made it clear there will be no parade for the snowfall record. yesterday there was a parade on st. patrick's day. they had to alter the route because of the snow on the side streets. when you hear them say we are over the snow they mean it. >> we will be celebrating when it melts. >> dylan is there for the regular season and the championship game ron mott grabs it. that's crazy. >> turn to other news a man is in custody in the shootings of the two police officers out in ferguson missouri. that incident caught on camera

set off an intense manhunt. good morning to you. >> good morning, matt. the shatooting came from that direction about 100 yards away from a vehicle hitting a line of police officers. the police and protesters milling about at the time. this morning is unclear whether they were targeting police or someone else. the shots rang out just after midnight early tuesday morning. >> shots fired. >> one officer shot through the shoulder and the other hit in the face. they charged jeffrey williams with assault, armed criminal acts and firing from a vehicle. punishable with life in prison. >> was he involved in the protests? >> yeah. >> many there demonstrating said

an outside agitator was responsible and not them. police called it an ambush. they claimed the gunfire was a result of a dispute. >> i hate to be too narrow about this but we are not 100% sure. >> the reaction at police headquarters was intense. critics and supporters of police face-to-face. they are still struggling to find common ground. prosecutors say the serious charges will be the same regardless of whether the gunman was targeting the police. both are still at home and expected to recover and the suspect is expected to be in court for his first appearance later today. matt? >> ron, thank you very much.

>> helping the very small nation devastated by a terrible storm. we have that. >> unbelievable images. the death toll is expected to rise after a cyclone that pounded the small island country. we are there with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the airport as part of the other infrastructure had been crippled by the storm. there has been a complete roof collapse. this is where the military is bringing aid in and out of the country. they expect to see more of this shattered. the direct hit from the cyclone is catastrophic. the entire community is blown away and ripped apart. the hospitals, schools and homes are gone. so much that they can spread damage and the death toll is unclear.

when the category five cyclone slammed ashore it sounded like a frayed train. behind the camera, they rode out the storm some called hell on earth. >> this is going to be a horrific humanitarian disaster. >> the monster storm packed 185 mile an hour winds and the trail of destruction stretches the length of this small island nation. 90% of housing where infrastructure is strongest is damaged. unicef said 54,000 children are affected by the storm. >> they were really scary. i just have to be strong for them. >> with wind knocking out power and nearly all communication, the 26-foot sea surge flooded many community this is this low-lying nation. one described the now homeless as hopeless.

oregon. the wind tore scaffolding off the skyscraper and sent debris plummeting. the on lookers described it as surreal. the car sustained heavy damage. no one was hurt. a toilet paper job that will be impossible to top. a prankster and the victim of "america's got talent" star and friends brought in a truck packed full of toilet paper and got to work on his california home. man telehad been out of town. here's what happened when he got home from the airport. >> why do you want to take a picture? it's not funny. why are you laughing? how do you clean this up? >> his wife was in on the prank and once he realized his friend and neighbor was behind it all, he had a good laugh.

pocono mountains. nothing falling from the clouds. radar shows it is completely dry today. there's a chance though we'll see rain showers tomorrow morning. wildwood is up in 39 and 36 in pottstown, so still in the 30s but not for much longer. clouds and sunshine 50s this afternoon. upper darby police are trying to figure out how bad blood between two neighbors led to an ambush-style shooting. it happened inside the victim's home on hardwood avenue late last night. police say the shooter knocked on the neighbor's door fired five shots and hit the victim once in the arm. the gunman then barricaded himself inside the house. a s.w.a.t. team moved in and made the arrest. this morning the tells nbc 10 that the shooter accused him of robbing him. police are still investigating. sky force 10 over an apartment fire near lasalle university. we're told the fire broke out on the sixth floor. it is now under control. everyone inside was evacuated. no reports of any injuries and no word yet on the cause.
