right now, cloudy skies. and we're tracking a few showers in the area. and spotting some green, not on the radar but row house row. after all, it's st. patrick's day. there's some rain mainly off to the northeast. a few isolated scattered showers and some spritzes in south jersey and delaware. not much more than that. 45 in philadelphia. we're running warmer than yesterday because of the clouds that are going to start things off. by 6:00 43 degrees. look at the warmup. 50 by 9:00. 60 by lunchtime. don't get used to the warmer air. there's a cold blast on the way. we'll come back in ten and show you what to expect. but first let's check in with traffic with katy zachry. good morning, katy. >> good morning. a live look at 76 in spring garden. this is the east side before you

hit the spring garden exit ramp. about 12 to 13 mintzutes in both directions. the wartlt whitman bridge is good. they're all clear this morning. tracy? >> all right. katy it's 4:02. sky 4's ten was over irving street in the city's cobb's street neighborhood around 10:00 last night. the 19 was rushed to the hospital but died. also overnight police have charged a maryland man for killing a woman. she tried to end a relationship barnes had with her 14-year-old daughter. police say he drove her car where he buried her body and

attempted to hide her car in a pond off applewood road and then returned to the woman's home. the 14-year-old, the daughter was with him at the time. barnes is also charged with statutory sexual assault involving that teenage girl. two temple university football players are free on bond after charges overnight. the arrests stem from an altercation in northern liberty back in january. temple university says it is aware of the situation and cooperating with the police. they have been suspended from the team pengd further investigation. a philadelphia community will come together today searching for solutions to gun violence. this comes after two recent shootings including murder of the police officer robert wilson. nbc's jesse gary is s?d ive. jesse, tell us more about this effort. >> reporter: tracy, there's a broad coalition of community

activist -- gun safety activists, politicians, and police. they're all coming together to attack the one of the root causes of violence. that is illegal gun violence. this comes after the recent slaying of a cop, robert wilson iii during a robbery. they believe the best way to get the guns is through the court and they're bringing help to that front. we're going to talk more about this collaboration and the efforts to accomplish this goal in a few minutes. we're live in juniata. jesse gary "nbc 10 news." we first told you about this story yesterday morning. william dean is facing a long list of charges including aggravated assault. he's billion held on $1 million bail. police found two guns in his home and they're looking to see if he used one of those to shoot his neighbor late sunday night.

the neighbor was nod seriously hurt. the federal court will hear arguments in philadelphia. they approved gambling a few years ago. currently nevada is the only state that allows betting on individual games at places like casinos and racetracks. state senator vincent hughes says the bill would automatically register pennsylvania residents to vote when they sign up for a state benefit, service, or license. before the registration is completed voters would receive a notice allowing them to opt out. the trial begins today for the philadelphia city worker accused of attacking a teenage girl on a trolley. daymond daymond works for the city.

this cell phone video captured the incident. it happened on the route 15 trolly back in january. he was upset because the girl kept bumping him with her backpack after she repeatedly asked him to stop. they say he punched her in the face and broke her nose. men are accused of robbing suspected drug dealers. a former officer is expected to testify against them. a new twist in the disappearance of a woman who is presumed dead. prosecutors are now charging the mother of the prime suspect in the case. they say joe crosby helped her son kyle conceal the body of crippen. she and kyla, the parents of the baby girl who also have a 7-year-old daughter from the previous relationship.

he vanished after police questioned him initially about crippen's disappearance and charged with the murder. crippen's family said they've had spugss from the start. they say she told them she hadn't spoken to her son in weeks but later they found text messages and phone calls at all hours of the day and night. >> i was like who does this. it was her number. >> because the investigation is ongoing, authorities are not saying exactly what kyle crosby did, but crippen's body still has not been found. today the search continues for an arsonist who sets fire to a historic school for kids with special needs. teachers students and staff say they can't manl who would want to destroy their school. >> this was an intense fire. there could have been fire

personnel, police personnel, rescue personnel that could have been injured by the seriousness of this fire. it was devastating. >> students will resume classes tomorrow at near by graetz college. philadelphia international airport officials say a fedex plane landed late last night. they searched the cargo plane. it turns out it was a false alarm. two people were on board. neither was hurt. we're watching for a few showers this morning. the radar is showing them but so far it is dry in center city. there's a good possibility it will stay dry on this tuesday morning, which is running chilly but not as cold as yesterday. 38 degrees right now in mt. pocono. 45 in trenton. clouds overhead but dry right now and dover is at 44 degrees. the clouds will be clearing out

this afternoon. we'll see a quick warmup today but then here comes the chilly air arriving this afternoon and moving in to tonight. you can see a few raindrops in bucks county right now. some of this not reaching the ground. most of the activity is farther off to the northeast. so you probably don't need to grab an umbrella this morning. but if you do make it a sturdy one because the winds will be kicking in as you go in to the afternoon. 47 degrees. look at the warmup we're in for. by noon low 60s. look at that change as we go into the afternoon. the winds kick in. by late this afternoon, 40s and low 50s. and it's going to feel cold were the wind blowing and it gets colder overnight tonight. so a dramatic turnaround. after a few showers this morning, we'll see clearing skies, but then the winds kick in right around lunchtime and after temperatures peak in the

term in office. he cast his vote this morning after a campaign which focused on the economy rather than nuclear issues and the israeli/arab conflict could take terms. if netanyahu wins he would become the longest serving leader of israel. the owner of the boat that the boston marathon bombing suspect used to hide from police is expected to testify today. jurors were taken to take the bullet-ridden vessel yesterday. investigators say dzhokhar tsarnaev hid in the boat after he and his brother got in a violent confrontation with the police days after the bombing. say the brothers threw explosives at them. tsarnaev's brother was killed in that investigation. los angeles prosecutors have charged charged robert durst in the shooting death of his friend

susan berman. she was killed before she was able to testify about the disappearance of his wife kathleen. durst is also charged in new orleans with possessing a handgun which is illegal for a felon. durst durst, a graduate of hee high university also had a brush in our area back in 2001. he was arrested for stealing a $6 sandwich from wegman. at the time he was on the run for the murder of his elderly neighbor. >> he had thousands of dollars of cash on him and he wouldn't pay for a hoagie which resulted in his apprehension. he's a businessizarre guy. >> he's now waiting to face murder charges in los angeles. police have not found the person who stab add delivery driver on the campus university. someone attacked an ice cream

delivery driver in the dining hall bathroom monday afternoon. the driver is in stable condition. they put the campus on lockdown while the police investigated. a case against a southwest mother who is accused of hiding her mother's death eesdaughter's death to receive. she lied about the death and collected more than $26,000 in supplemental social security income payments. authorities have not said how the child died. a boston county teacher is behind bars accused of secretly taping students while they were in his class. prosecutors say adam mayer aimed a small camera at the desks of students to seabee neath their clothing. one student suspected something wrong, told their parents, and they called authorities.

police found the images on his computer last week. there could be more victims because investigators say this may have been going on for nearly two years. officers in medford bling downblington county. the cameras will feed to a secure location and only police will be able to access the information. now, medford police say you should consider several things if you're going to buy and install security cameras. first, the higher resolution the better the video. cameras should face entrance and exit points and a minimum of 30 days' storage is recommended. the man who broke his back when his kensington home collapsed on him this weekend will have surgery later today. carroll has a 50% chance of being paralyzed. just yesterday his dog a

chihuahua named bruno was found alive at the collapsed site. his two other pets were rescued. still no word on why the home collapsed. two firefighters' metal ladder hit a power line. the firefighters were treated for burns at temple hospital. scientists at boston children's hospital say low vaccination rates are responsible for the measles outbreak that began at disneyland late last year. they studied areas with the largest clusters of measles classes including parts of arizona, california illinois. they were only 50 to 80%. they say those rates are far below the 96 to 99% needed to stop the contagious virus from predding. workers are starting to reach the devastation in vanuatu after a powerful cyclone made a direct hit on the island this weekend. this is what search teams are up

against. roads are washed out. power is out. homes and bridges have been destroyed. dozens of people are missing. thousands are homeless. the true death toll may not be known for weeks. >> a western pennsylvania river is overflowing with huge chunks of ice and that ice is causing damaging to properties alon the allegheny river. crews are monitoring the situation and saying floodwaters are starting to go down. the cape may county zoo is mourning the death of a beloved snow leopard d.j. he died from complications with kidney deseenlsd embattled disease for years. they were one of the most successful pair of snow leopards in the world. they had seven cubs and helped to boost the endangered snow leopard population. d.j. was 16.

temperatures are coming down but ever so slowly as we've got clouds over boathouse row this morning. look how quiet it is. the water barely moving. look at the schuylkill. it looks like glass. that changes on this st. patrick's day. this afternoon we'll see gusty winds. right now a 3-mile-an-hour southwesterly breeze and 45 degrees right now. warmer start than yesterday and it's going be in the low 60s early this afternoon. then the wind kicks in. that's when we'll see strong gusty winds deliver colder air for later today. right now it's 45. trenton, wrightstown, wilmington. 44 in vineland right now. not a bad start temperature wise. a little warmer than normal for this time of year. a few showers but they're not looking like they're heading our way. they're pushing out of the area.

straighting their new safe turn alert system designed to automatically warn pedestrians, especially those engrossed in their ipading inging ingipads, iphones, and others. the safe turn alert system has been installed in 12 septa buses for the pilot program, which is an extension of septa's distracted commuters awareness program. philadelphia is making a new effort to help less fortunate families. next, the first of its kind facility offering assistance to those who need it most. plus, bringing one of philadelphia's so-called ghost stations back to life. the price tag to offer another stop to pack those commuters.
